Great experience for a long weekend
Pros:

Great check in experience with Stephanie and David. Very nice patio for having a drink poolside. Also a very good gym with good free weights, machines, treadmills/cycles, space, etc

Costly non-service for hospital cancer patients
Pros:

This hotel is a HUGE disappointment!!! As a cancer patient at MD Anderson, I have been paying $189/night over the past few weeks when I come to Houston for treatment. This week, the "hotel is full" and I am being charged more than double my medical rate. On top of that, my room wasn't ready by three pm, current guests are staying until 4 pm, so I can't get into my room until 4:45!! What is wrong with this scenario? I am now waiting in the lobby in a wheelchair for someone to tell me I can go upstairs. Although this hotel is conveniently located near the hospital, I need to find another place to stay. What an incredibly immoral/unkind way to treat your special needs guests.

Great
Pros:

We had a most enjoyable Saturday evening at the outdoor 54 Terrace as a result of Stephanie's kind hospitality. Her professionalism as a reception representative is truly an asset to the Westin family of hotels.

Cant wait to return!
Pros:

Amazing stay. Was in Houston for business and extremely tired after a long day. Stephanie checked me in and I think she immediately picked up on my fatigue, and gifted me a bottle of wine and gave me a quiet room! Definitely brightened my day!!! Aside from that, the hotel was immaculate and inviting, my room was clean. I asked for a wine glass to be brought up and it was delivered by 2 smiling faces. Restaurant had great views and food. Everyone was pleasant from the Valet on. I'd love to stay again next time Im in Htown.

Stephanie is a star!
Pros:

Stephanie at the front desk was excellent! So energetic, friendly, and helpful. It was really great after the long car ride to Houston that we always dread.

She gave us the low down on all the amenities and gave us extra water.

Hopefully she is appreciated by management for her outstanding customer service, friendliness, and great attitude.

Westin hotel check-in experience
Pros:

Stephanie at the Westin front desk was wonderful—she knew all about the hotel’s fifth-floor amenities and local spots nearby. The information she shared was really helpful!

Disparate Treatment During Private Birthday Event
Pros:

I recently hosted a private birthday celebration at The Westin Houston Medical Center/Museum District and unfortunately the experience did not meet the level of professionalism expected from the Westin brand.

Throughout the evening, my event was repeatedly interrupted regarding noise concerns. Each time, I complied and lowered the music as requested. Despite this, warnings continued and the tone became increasingly escalatory. A manager identified as Miguel approached my hired DJ in an aggressive manner and repeatedly threatened to shut down the event, even after adjustments had already been made.

When outside alcohol and smoking were brought to my attention, I immediately instructed security to remove the individuals involved. I actively worked to bring the event into compliance. Despite these efforts, the interruptions continued, which created tension and caused several guests to leave early.

I do want to acknowledge Alex from security, who remained professional and made a genuine effort to de-escalate the situation. His approach was calm and respectful and stood in contrast to the tone used elsewhere.

Following the event, my concerns were escalated to the Sales Director, Veronica Buezo. Unfortunately, the response felt dismissive and focused solely on policy enforcement rather than acknowledging the disruption to the guest experience and the manner in which the situation was handled.

My concern is not with enforcement of policies, but with how it was handled. The repeated interruptions, aggressive communication, and lack of collaborative coordination significantly impacted what was meant to be a celebratory milestone event.

While the venue itself is beautiful, the handling of this event fell short and negatively affected the overall experience.

Westin Let Me Down
Pros:

More often than not I am pleased with visits to Westin properties however this one did not turn out that way. Up on arrival no upgrades rooms are small I should have known being in the hospital district there would be sirens and helicopters constantly. Tried to use the pool the first day the deck was filthy with food debris dirty towels and trash bags look like there'd been a wild party at the pool and nobody seemed to want to clean it up. Tried the on-site restaurant that was a mistake the food came out lukewarm portions are small ordered them pappardelle Bolognese he comes with nothing on the side and the service was incredibly slow to get the meal out. Let the front desk know of the disappointment and they said they would let upper management know that was the last I heard of anything. The entry is kind of quirky it's on the 5th floor since the pool doesn't open until 7:00 I thought I'd walk around on the deck area outside can't do that all the doors are locked on all the ends of the building on the 5th floor leading out to Terraces yet their signs that say these door shall remain unlocked at all times. I will know better next time and find another property to use if I'm in this area.

Park in the garage at 6624 Fannin St
Pros:

The bed was ultra comfy. Pool deck is a lovely place to sit. Location is right by the light rail or a short drive from all the museums. Some OK take away places downstairs.

Cons:

The View from any room is of an adjacent building. The west facing side of the building which would look out over a park and low buildings has now windows. Not an architectural marvel...

The hotel was short staffed during rodeo time and getting anything on the terrace required going trough a sometimes locked gate inside to the bar. That includes towels...

But my big beef is the price of the parking garage. $43 for the first night in a car centric town like Houston felt brutal. Luckily I found with a bit of research that the adjacent garage only charges $19 for up to 24 hours for the second night. This is something the check in staff do not tell you.

Exceptional Service with Stephanie
Pros:

I had an exceptional experience at the Westin, and a big part of that was thanks to Stephanie, their Front Desk Agent. She went above and beyond to make my check-in process smooth, quick, and genuinely enjoyable.

I highly recommend this hotel, and if you have the chance to interact with Stephanie, you’re in great hands. Steph’s a true asset to the Westin team!
