The building was beautiful and the skeleton crew were super nice and friendly.
But the hotel was ridiculously under-staffed! The one person (front desk / receptionist / concierge), had to come up four floors to the roof to take our breakfast order, give it to the cook and then go back down. The "included" breakfast was just a joke and terrible! They had no bread! Bakery was a few doors down but they didn't have the means to just buy the basic essentials that the mangement was not supplying them. The first morning we asked for french toast and were served a piece of chocolate raspberry cake! My wife thought it was a mistake but the server insisted THAT was a french toast. As they didn't have eggs Benedict, I ordered eggs with bacon and sausage. They charged $2 for the sausage as they said that wasn't included in the free breakfast! And they insisted I pay them right then and there in cash! 😂 Luckily I had cash with me. BTW, this is $400+ room a night! Second day we went again out of curiosity, and this time they did have Eggs Benedict. Except it was an egg on a piece cake. And afterwards they said the Eggs Benedict was not part of the free breakfast and we had to pay for it! I refused. The coffee was extra sweet and terrible. No unsweetened option! Third day, we just went to a restaurant. 🙂 It would take about 15 minutes for the water to turn hot in the shower! Receptionist had told us 8 to 10 minutes. Huge waste. Safe didn't work plus it was not bolted down!

The Hotel is very centrally located , the staff is very service oriented , and the property is spotless
Would highly recommended , I will be staying there in my next trip San Miguel .

We stayed 6 nights at the Essentia over new year’s week and enjoyed our stay.
The staff was excellent and very accommodating. They arranged a car to take us from and to the airport and everything was smooth. The complimentary breakfast on the hotel rooftop was a good experience. The negative is that there’s a hotel bar that is never open, so we couldn’t have drinks at our hotel.

Our stay was regular. Maybe a 5 or 6 out of 10. We booked this hotel because of the included breakfast, but we were quite disappointed with the overall quality and the pricing as they charged us for the extra beverages and even for an extra ingredient on an omelet, we decided it was not worth it and had breakfast outside the hotel after. On the other side there was never a bathroom carpet despite we asking for it several times, the air conditioner was not working properly either. I think this hotel has great potential but it does not seems that management has the motivation to put it at the same level as other hotels in San Miguel which is quite a shame since the hotel is so pretty on its architecture and rooms.

No corresponde el servicio con el precio. No hay agua caliente, desperdicias a lo bestia. Aberrante

Es de los mejores hoteles de SMA, las habitaciones son de lo mejor. Si quieres descansar y olvidarte de todo con toda la comodidad es el mejor lugar.

It’s a beautiful old style hotel however it lacked customer service. No hot water in my shower. I notified the manager however it was not corrected. Free breakfast only consists of one beverage so no refills on your morning coffee 😠 and to eat only one choose of oatmeal or fruits with yogurt. Very upset of the lack of service in this hotel.

Excellent location. Only a block from the plaza. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The restaurant is very reasonable and the food is very good. We will definitely stay here again.

The hotel was not what we expected and definitely not even 3 star. They claimed to have a restaurant and bar but when we reached they said it was opening next year. Two of our rooms had hot water issues. There was water leak in the corridor. There was a sewer type of smell in the bathroom. The linens provided were just bare minimum. There was coffee in the room but a charge for using it. Never heard that before. The communication became a big problem as no one there spoke English. Would definitely not recommend this hotel.

Best service ever, pity that i don't know the name but the guy that received us, and did our check in and check out is amazing, I would go back to this hotel a million times, in the center of town, restaurant, stores and many places to visit within walking distance, we felt safe , I will recommend this hotel always,,,,

This place is amazing in its structure. When you step foot in it, you feel like you’re stepping into a Roman antique building. While the decor is antique, the facility is remodeled and well-maintained, the AC and heater are very good, water, everything is clean on the inside. The staff are very helpful, they called the laboratory to come and do PCR testing in house for me. They also booked me a taxi for the airport the following day. The quality of breakfast is amazing.

The only negative aspects of this facility is that a nearby building is undergoing repair and if you like to sleep in, you will find that after 8 AM you will need some earplugs because of continuous construction sounds nearby.

It was amazing

Loved everything. The staff was extremely helpful, although there were a few times the language barrier led to humorous interactions. Their English was much better than my Spanish!!!
The bed was comfy and the decor was fabulous. We did have problems with the TV, but who comes to SMA to watch TV?

It is a beautiful property, and very well located. The problem I had is that the website suggests they have a restaurant and bar on the premises and there was neither.

Excellent staff. Property lacking some amenities, such as a breakfast area.
