Location always great. 5th time staying at the townhouse
Air-conditioning is a mystery at times
Great location, easy access to restaurants and historic sites.
I stayed here for a conference, really lovely stay, only dropped a star as my room was noisy by night due to being by the main road but otherwise very clean and happy stay. The staff were all very accommodating, personal mention to Florinda who was always very helpful, always smiling and warm! Thank you
Badged as a boutique hotel.
Large bedrooms which are clean. The impression given is that the more dowdy wallpaper & curtain colours have been spruced up by the headboard & cabinet top colours.
Well appointed bathroom with separate bath & shower. Generally modern & appealing bathroom.
However the bathroom has been let down by poor repairs & a leaking shower door. The heated towel rail is loose, filling to the shower cubicle ceiling is like a moon surface & the stone tray has been repaired with what looks like chewing gum.
Breakfasts have a good selection. The hot breakfast varied across the days between hot & warm.
I didnt have the best nights sleep due to the noise of the adjacent lift & poor sound insulation from the street below.
A good location for China town & only a 12 minute walk to the Arnedale centre.
Clean, tidy and comfortable
Really great location. Super helpful staff. Breakfast was delicious with amazing vegan sausages.
The only issue we had when there was the mini disabled lift in reception would go up fine but the button in the lift to go down didnt work. Thankfully staff were super helpful in pressing the button on the outside for the lift to cone back down
Very nice reception area and first impressions.
The room was very nice and clean although the carpet in the room had lots of stains. Our room was near the lift area so heard some noise from corridor. Also wasn't the quietest from the street.Breakfast was nice lots of choice and fresh. The location of the hotel is brilliant right in the centre of all areas.
Nice hotel. Comfortable bed. Nice amenities.
Lovely hotel in a very good location. The hotel sent me multiple emails regarding upgrading my stay. On Friday the day prior to arrival I requested 3 breakfasts at the discounted rate of £12.50. Today the morning we are intending to check out, Lorna walked up to our table asking to confirm our room number. While giving it and explaining about the breakfast email, she became rude and aggressive with a raised voice stating we have no record of that and you haven't paid! She created a scene for us in the breakfast room. When I pointed out she was aggressive she said I'm not very well today. Yet she was standing over us yelling over our food. As a member of the hospitality trade, a sorry about the misunderstanding we didn't receive your request would have gone a lot further than being advised of getting to steal a substandard hotel breakfast. It doesn't matter how nice your hotel is if your staff are abrasive and rude.
decor of room lovely
coffee at breakfast could have been better
We had a lovely stay at the Townhouse. We were travelling for a specific thing, so we only stayed for one night, but if we were to stay longer we would definitely consider it. The hotel is located directly on the corner between Chinatown and the Gay Quarter, and an easy walk to Victoria and Piccadilly stations, so it was very easy to access, but the grand and winding interior made it feel cosy and luxurious and separate from the hustle-and-bustle of outside. The room itself was moderately sized, larger than I was anticipating for the price we paid, with a super-soft king bed and all the conveniences one would expect. We were only left one bath towel, but with us only staying the one night we didn't exactly need more. The room was clean and well-managed, and while there was traffic noise from the busy road outside throughout the night, it wasn't enough to disrupt sleep (we were on the third floor, which might have helped). The staff were excellent and very helpful - I would like to give a special shout-out to I believe it was Kat and Florinda, who made our breakfast such a lovely affair with their diligence, presentation, and of course the wonderful array of English and Continental foods. While we did book at quite short notice and thus missed out on the better deals, I feel like the price we paid for the room was more than good value for the comfort we received. My only regret was that paying for breakfast on the day is significantly more than pre-booking, which if I had known I would have made sure of when I booked the room, but also fair's fair - pre-paying tells the kitchen how much they expect to need to cook and prevent wastage - I just wish I'd known or been informed when we checked in. Overall, I and my partner had an excellent stay at The Townhouse, and I would recommend it to any looking for a city break in the heart of Manchester.
Breakfast was lovely, staff were super friendly & location was great.
The room let this stay down.
Cleanliness was pretty poor. Bath towel was heavily stained; in room mugs hadn’t been cleaned; cobwebs in the windows.
Bed poorly made. Had to sleep on top of the bare mattress as the sheet had not been applied properly & I gave up trying to re-make it myself.
Noise. Windows sounded as though they were open, even though they weren’t. Guess they’re just old. Next to a busy junction so the noise was quite prolific. This isn’t the hotel’s fault of course, but bear in mind if you was a peaceful sleep.
Generally would expect more from a 4* hotel.
