Please note, the property offers valet parking only and it costs £30 per day. Guests must not park their own car unless using Clifford's car park opposite, which is run by the council. Please be aware that the Clifford's Tower is undertaking some vital conservation works to protect the tower and make improvements for visitors - this will restrict your view of the tower slightly from some of the rooms, but everything will be back to normal later this year. Sorry for the inconvenience

MENTAL TORTURE AND SLEEP DEPREVATION THEN ROOM 343 IS ONE

Cons:

I have stayed in this hotel on numerous occasions and always left a positive. Unfortunately not this time. I had mistakenly booked an accessible room. Not a problem. I asked if we could change that and was told no the hotel was full. This was at 10am. I later said to another member of staff you must be soo busy, they said yes but not full???. Well what was the problem was the constant buzzing and humming in the room. At around 3-4 early morning the company I was with could put up with it no longer and went down to reception and was at first offered ear plugs then a room change which was taken. I remained simply because I had beers on the night. At checkout I asked for some form of cost reduction and was virtually ignored. Terrible really considering I am a member and have stayed so many times . Even mentioned just taking breakfast off but answer was no. It did spoil the breakaway. This room I have noted is in other negative reviews . Why we could not change rooms is inexcusable and more I felt down to stubborn staff. Was very disappointed and very tired.

Great location, but the hotel itself could use an update.
Pros:

Excellent location, within easy walking distance of York’s main attractions. Very convenient for a short stay and exploring the city on foot.

Cons:

The hotel feels somewhat dated and the room was fairly basic for the Hilton brand. It could benefit from some refurbishment and modernization.

Definitivamente la ubicación, la limpieza y decoración.

Cons:

La ducha de la habitación si fue poco práctica, muy estrecha el área de la ducha y la mamá para de vidrio demasiado corta. Eso realmente fue incómodo para todos al momento de bañarnos. Deberían cambiar eso.

Didn't get to check in till nearly 5pm staff was very rude iv stayed at many many hiltons im a hilton honours member i would never stay here again. There's so many nicer places its not up to hilton standards. And for the lift well thats all ill say.

The location and proximity to the main shops and sights was amazing.

Cons:

We checked in and were given the furthest room away from the elevators. Also, despite the booking page claiming that there is air-conditioning, this is actually only available in certain rooms. The staff member was very rude about this and was extremely unhelpful (their only suggestion was to open the windows which have no screens so let's lots of bugs in the room or add an extra tiny fan).

Fabulous stay at great Hotel in perfect location.
Pros:

Hotel was easy to find, and parking was by valet, which was really good. Car parked outside for us on departure. There was a carpark across the road if none available at the hotel. Nice welcome from the Reception Team upon arrival, room was ready early, which was a bonus. Room was good size and lovely and clean. Just a short walk outside and you are in the main town with shops and restaurants. We ate dinner and breakfast at the hotel, both very good, will maybe next time have evening meal out in town, but keep breakfast, so much choice and freshly cooked.

Cons:

Just a personal preference, I still like a book in the room that tells you what time things like dinner, breakfast are, where buses run from, what's on locally.

The worst experience I have had by trusting on Booking

We couldn’t stay at the hotel.

Cons:

We couldn’t stay at the hotel. When we arrived, even after confirming the reservation directly with Hilton and having the Booking reservation confirmed, the hotel clerk said that there was no room available for us. After claiming it, they only sent us to another hotel with lower specifications. Even after offering us a discount of 50% for the stay and after leaving the other hotel the day after, they did not wanted to present the invoice and we received full charge for the stay at full price, at the Hilton rate nor the Hampton we used. We used the hotel for one night and they charged two nights. They said that this was a Booking mistake, not Hilton. Our plan was severely affected and all our plans were a disaster. I need the refund and an explanation of this issue.
