Comfortable and very convenient location
Pros:

We were pleased with our rooms which were spacious and comfortable. We did not have breakfast or use the pool partly because there was a small charge but also because there was so much to do!

Comfortable stay with great service in a convenient location
Pros:

Breakfast is a separate option and not automatically included. The breakfast options are generally open at 7 AM and you can choose between a buffet-style that mixes Western and Japanese elements, or a purely Japanese multi-course breakfast. The Japanese breakfast was really special and my description of it including grilled fish, pickles, miso soup, tofu and rice does not do it justice. The buffet-style breakfast is still quite good and has a wide variety that, for example, included meat options of miso-marinated mackerel, baked salmon, ribeye, and two different kinds of sausage. Concierge services were also excellent, and included a small Yamato Transport kiosk for takkyubin/takuhaibin (luggage forwarding) that takes credit cards.

Cons:

It is a bit of a maze getting around Kyoto station and finding entrances to the hotel. Specifically, it is on the north side of the station so if you arrive on the south side of the station, you had better exit to the north otherwise you will have to cross over on the 2nd floor of the station to reach the hotel because the first floor cannot connect the southern and northern entrances owing to shinkansen and other rail lines. On the other hand, once I was more familiar with the location, it was situated very closely to Kyoto's subway, JR lines, shinkansen, bus stop, and taxi rank.

Great Hotel and superb stay
Pros:

The location is excellent, facilities top notch and staff helpful and friendly. The room service was excellent and the presentation of the food was beautiful. The prices were reasonable too even at odd hours.

Cons:

Accomodation tax was a surprise and should have been mentioned while booking at Booking.com or on check in but it's fine after a good experience.
