The drinks at the bar weren’t exactly top quality
Another stay completed at this wonderful hotel. Staff exceptional as always, can’t do enough for you. Cleanliness off the scale, lovely gardens.
We’ve been coming here 19yrs as a young couple on honeymoon, then with our son. We’ve brought parents here and most recently friends too. The staff make this place they all go above and beyond. From reception to bar and resteraunt staff, housekeeping, maintenance and the spa staff. We’ve never felt more at home and why we continue to return year after year
This was my first stay in Madeira , and really enjoyed it ...
The hotel was fantastic, from the moment r we arrived we were well looked after, the facilities and room were top notch ...I will definitely visit the Eden Mar again
מיקום מצוין, צוות שירותי למדי, ארוחת בוקר עשירה
חדרים מיושנים מאוד. לא מתוחזקים בצורה ראויה.
All good didn’t like the fact we had to pay for water after complimentary 1st day bottle, beds very uncomfortable but facilities good, food average breakfast, didn’t really eat dinner at hotel except one day which was good.
This is the 5th time we have stayed at the Eden Mar and it never disappoints. When we first stayed it was quite isolated but there has been so much development in Funchal that it is now a bustling hub with so many bars and restaurants close by. The hotel, however busy always feels quiet and calm. The rooms as always meet expectations and are beautifully maintained. This isn’t the cheapest hotel in Funchal but in my mind you get what you pay for! Another comfortable and pleasant stay.
Our third trip to Eden Mar and standards still high. We couldn't fault anything. Great restaurants to choose from on site, shame the Med restaurant wasn't open this year but they have opened a new restaurant next to Il Basilico. Staff very attentive and provide excellent service. Definitely will return.
Lovely room. Great service and staff. Very good restaurants on site and nearby. Lovely shady areas near the pool and plenty of sun loungers. Great views too. We will be back !
Het diner was zeer divers en uitgebreid.
De kamers waren ruim en netjes.
Een bushalte om de hoek en parkeergelegenheid in de buurt voor de auto.
Nice gardens, pools and facilities. Great breakfast with many different options to choose from. Friendly staff. Great location within walking distance to the town centre.
Cant think of anything.
A really nice resort. Stayed in the junior suite which although a bit dated was very clean and comfortable. Had a balcony with a wonderful view over the pols and gardens and out to sea. What spoiled our holiday was the thoroughly miserable staff. Got almost shouted at on the first night for sitting in an *out of bounds area* …there was a sign which we hadn’t noticed but to be reprimanded almost like kids …we are in our late 50s and early 60s. Just extremely disappointing. Staff at breakfast can’t crack a smile. Noticed that regulars ( I think those who have visited lots of times) are warmly welcomed . Didn’t eat there in the evenings as didn’t like the atmosphere. Managed to find quite a few places where our custom was welcomed with smiles and warmth! Would we return? I don’t think so.
We’ve just returned from a wonderful stay at Suites Eden Mar and, overall, had a fantastic holiday. The standout feature has to be the spectacular views across the Atlantic – waking up each morning and sitting on the balcony looking out over the ocean was simply breathtaking.
The entire complex is immaculately maintained. Everywhere you look, there are staff cleaning, gardening and keeping the hotel looking its very best. The pool area is particularly beautiful, with plenty of space to relax, and despite the hotel being busy, we never had any problem finding sunbeds at any time of the day. There is a basic gym with fairly old equipment, also a bonus was the 2 heated pools - absolutely fabulous.
Breakfast was superb, with an enormous choice to suit all tastes. From fresh fruit and pastries to cooked options and made-to-order omelettes, there was certainly more than enough variety to keep everyone happy throughout our stay.
The only real downside was the cost of eating and drinking within the hotel itself, to us they are showing preference to guest oh half board by allowing them to upgrade to à la carte for a small supplement where if you’re on B&B it’s the full whack. A prime example is the garden BBQ at €40, never has a BBQ been worth this add the expensive drinks and you’re in for €200 for a buffet BBQ. We paid almost €100 for three very basic pizzas at their Basillco Restaurant.
The drinks prices were equally eye-watering, with draft cola costing €5 and mocktails priced at €11. It did feel as though families with children were being hit particularly hard by these prices.
There are some wonderful restaurants in the resort, but if you want to eat on complex, prices are significantly higher than those you’ll find on the nearby high street restaurants and bars
That said, the hotel itself is excellent, the facilities are first class and the cleanliness and stunning location make it a place we would happily return to.
