Booking excursions at LaQuinta Wyndham hotel
Pros:

We booked a private tour of places we wanted to see in Istanbul through the hotel. Our booking representative Naz, was really friendly and helped prepare an itinerary for us taking into account what was manageable for my elderly mum, what our preferences were and shopping and lunch suggestions. Lovely girl, made us feel very welcome at the hotel.

Poor customer service and lift
Pros:

Rooms are fine.
Clean. Towels ok. Safe in toom. . Good beds.
At least an hour by taxi from old city and 30 mins + from the airport.
Breakfast is very very crowded. OK selection if you can get a seat.
The front of house staff poor attitude is a huge problem. Indifference verging on contempt.
The 3 small lifts can be a nightmare. The hotel has 404 rooms!
I also stayed here in late April. At that time 2 lifts were stopped on upper floors for an unusually long time. I reported this to reception. They shrugged and turned away!!!
I later met the lady who was stuck in one of the lift unable to open the door or get anyone's attention. I did try!!!
Today, l have been in a long line for the lifts for 15 minutes. A young Turkish woman pushed in. We told her to wait her turn. The front of house staff member intervened and spoke only in Turkish to her. Ignoring us, as Westerners, but still paying guests.
He personally took her to the service lift.
We were left to stand in line.
I knew where the service lift was as we had been stuck on the 6th floor and discovered the service lift in the stair well.
Front desk sending maintenance is hit and miss. Some guests got TV and safe fix immediately. Other guests in the disabled room with the window stuck open all night got no help. They resorted to stuffing towels in the gap to keep out the cold.
This hotel has many large tour group bookings. As an individual traveller l would avoid this hotel.

Staff were lovely. Location not great.
Pros:

The staff were lovely.

Cons:

We were on a tour, they ran out of food for breakfast, not enough food. Not appropriate food for Australians.
As an asthmatic, it was difficult to breathe because of all the cigarette smoke, we could smell cigarette smoke in our room, in the carpet & curtains and public areas.
The location was a long way from anything, for example restaurants for tourists who have no transport.
A long way from the airport. Some informative communication for Australians up front would have been good, for example letting us know at reception that women needed a cap to swim in the pool.

Pros:

Smoke ridden pit of a hotel.
This hotel allows guests to congregate at the front entrance to smoke cigarettes, it also has a smoking area indoors near the bar and although this area has double doors they were never closed hence cigarette smoke permeated throughout the entire reception and lounge and bar area also the bar dining area. We were on the 9th floor and you could smell it up the lifts to each floor.
The rooms are worn and need a good refurbishment, towels are threadbare, no body wash in the shower, hard mattress and pillows.
The room was hot as you cannot regulate the air conditioning, we had to open the windows and then the traffic noise, roosters crowing, dogs barking and cultural calling meant you got very little sleep.
We were on a tripadeal tour and would not even consider booking this hotel under normal circumstances.
Location is in the middle of nowhere.
Food was unremarkable.

Pros:

Looks very impressive and our room/suite was quite good apart from the bathroom light which kept flashing on and off.
We had dinner in the hotel restaurant, which was very average. Paid 60 euro person for dinner, there was hardly anything to choose from, there
was a rice dish, dried out pasta dish, mushy vegetables and a chicken dish. There was no drink in the drink machine and no cutlery.
The service was none existence, staff extremely rude...
For a hotel that hosts a lot of international guests, perhaps a little more effort needs to be put into there customer service and ability to speak English...

Great value- great hotel
Pros:

The hotel was great! Breakfast daily was amazing- somethingwe looked forwrd to daily. Sara our room attendant was always helpful and cleaned our room impeccably. We will definitely be back
