Great location but disappointing
Pros:

Location

Cons:

It was noisy. There was no free coffee. The coffee in my room was not restocked one morning. I had two broken glasses in my room. Something was left in the fridge from a previous occupant.

Good hotel & location
Pros:

We got a last minute reservation here after our original lodging didn't work out.

The nice thing about staying at a Marriott property is that they are normally good. This one didn't disappoint. It is located in the Historical District of Charleston, so it's easily walkable to many attractions and tours.

The room was spacious and clean. The bed and pillows were comfortable.

We could hear the people in the hallway when we were in our room.

There were decent amenities at this hotel... pool, gym, Starbucks, bar (served minimal food options)

The elevators were really slow especially in the morning when the housekeeping team was going from floor to floor with their carts.

The reception workers were very friendly & helpful.

Very upset
Pros:

I disliked this hotel for many reasons but the main one is its frequent fire alarms. I stayed there for 3 nights from Sunday evening to Wednesday morning. During that time the fire Alarm went off twice, one cat 2 am in the morning on Monday and once at 9:00 am in the morning on Wednesday. Neither of these incidents ended up being an emergency so it was just very annoying and kind of scary to be woken up by a blaring alarm.

Disappointing
Pros:

One of the best things about this hotel is the location. Overall, our week spent at this hotel was lackluster for the price we paid. The lobby and common area were definitely an upgrade from the usual Courtyards. The cleanliness of our room was below normal standards. We killed three spiders in our room over the course of our stay and dust and dirt were visible on furniture and the floor, making us hesitant to walk around our room without shoes. We had an issue where a cleaner accidentally threw away a shopping bag containing a newly purchased souvenir t-shirt and sweatshirt that was on the floor next to luggage. We found a cleaning person on our floor and she kindly dug through the garbage of a cleaning cart and found it. When found, it was unfortunately completely covered in grime and what smelled like old coffee. We were very grateful of her help in locating our items, but chose to speak to the front desk about our situation. When speaking to the attendant, I let her know that we understood that it was an accident but our items were quite possibly ruined. The girl at the front desk was very kind, she looked at the tags that were still attached to both items to see the cost. She then took the items to the back room and spoke with someone about the situation. She returned and promised to refund us the total for the cost of $35 for the t-shirt and $45 for the sweatshirt "right now" by taking the combined cost off of our hotel bill. Although the suggested refund didn't include the sales tax, we were happy to have a "fix" and walked away feeling good about the situation. The next morning at check out, Justin printed out our final bill and the refund was nowhere to be seen. We asked about it and he said he saw it on there earlier and removed it because the young lady we spoke to yesterday "did not do the refund properly." He clearly had no intention of communicating the fact that he removed the refund from our bill until we asked him directly about it. Frankly, we are under the impression that we would not have received the refund if we hadn't said something. It wasn't until we asked him his name that he seemed to be proactive. Later on, we did receive an email receipt with the refund attached. His demeanor was unprofessional and disappointing and we feel as if we didn't ask him about it, we would not have gotten the refund. On the other hand, our experience with other front desk staff, was professional and positive. The people in the hotel bar/starbucks were very kind and the cleaning staff were all very pleasant. In addition, the valet attendants were very efficient and helpful. Overall this is a family friendly hotel however, there are probably other hotels in the area that are cleaner and offer a more upscale experience at the same price point. It's a shame that our stay ended on such a negative note.

Good and reasonably priced Charleston option.
Pros:

Very comfortable and spacious room. Well kept property that is close to the historic district but probably not a walk for most people. .
Onsite parking is expensive ($45/night) but there are less expensive options available, including street parking.
Pleasant and helpful staff. On site restaurant is convenient but relatively expensive. Numerous restrictions nearby within walking e.

Overall a good place to stay
Pros:

Overall a good place to stay. Staff was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Great location and clean rooms. During a three night stay, the fire alarm went off two times during the night causing everyone to evacuate. The front desk was nice to provide a refund of one of the nights, when asked.

Have stayed there twice now...first time a friend made the reservation, this time I wanted to return
Pros:

Very friendly and accommodating front desk staff, and cleaners! I accidentally left a watch and some jewelry in the room, and it was turned in and returned to me shortly thereafter.

Cons:

This is not just your hotel....but I really miss a 24 hour coffee/water station.

Terrible experience
Pros:

Front desk is extremely rude and unprofessional. Paid $45 valet parking and was not accommodated for it. Had out keys confiscated and would not return them. Man at the front desk told me he was “waiting on my next move” as if he was threatening me. Definitely will no be staying here in the future and recommended everyone who can to stay away if possible. Management needs major work.
