Love the history and the historical theme of the building. Location is great. We needed access to the Golden Rule Building nearby. Loved the many art works, photographs, and the antique furniture. Also like that housekeeping is "by request". When I stay two nights, I don't need housekeeping at all.
Used coffee packet was left in coffeemaker and supply of coffee not replenished. I realize window cleaning is a huge job, but it was obvious windows throughout the building had not been cleaned in a very long time, and it detracted a bit from the otherwise clean and orderly rooms. Bar menu was misleading as to prices. The wine I ordered said $10 on the menu, with a discount for happy hour. However, I was billed over $14 (during happy hour), as the barman said the current menu prices were on the tables, and I had picked up one from the bar. However, the next day I picked up a menu from one of the tables and mentioned to him that it said $10 also. He ended up giving me a glass free of charge. That wasn't really the point. I just wanted to know what the price was before I ordered it. THe menus should be accurate. Also, I would have preferred more help with parking advice and/or options. I found the ramp pricing very confusing. Supposedly 17.75, but in reality 19.50? Would it be possible for hotel guests to get a reduced rate?
It’s a very old historical building with charm. My room was nicely decorated and restored.
Limited free parking
Great breakfast with lots of choices. Loads of charm in the building and furnishings. Perfect location and friendly staff!
Squeaky floors, but it's an old building.
When we were getting ready for bed late at night, we found a pair of underwear in the room that did not belong to us.
This was extremely concerning and unacceptable, as it indicates the room was not properly cleaned or inspected prior to our check-in. This impacted our comfort and sense of safety during the stay. We left before 5 am.
Given the situation, I am requesting a refund for this stay. I have yet to hear from the hotel.
Breakfast was nice
The place should be for homeless people
Nothing to do in St paul
The hotel bar is a great place for a pre dinner drink! The history of the building is so cool and the vibe of the place is unique and fun.
Our first room had a broken heater- it was 90 when we walked in and when we went down to tell the front desk, she told us the wiring in the building was recently “messed up” and we just have to learn how to use it- is was user error. We disagreed and she reluctantly gave us a new room but it was not a pleasant experience.
My room had a spectacular view!
The property is beautiful. No notes on the atmosphere, aesthetic, or staff. The staff and bartenders were very nice and accommodating. I will be back.
The only thing is that you kind of have to control the temperature yourself. It gets too hot in the room and then it gets too cold when you turn it off. There’s no true thermostat. I was on the ground floor.
There wasn’t anything I didn’t like about the Celeste of St Paul
I absolutely loved the fact that they refused ICE service, I love you guys for being on the side of humanity and not the “Count of Mostly Crisco” and his orange boot lickers.
Nothing to dislike
plenty of options, better quality than standard hotel continental breakfast.
most food was gone at 930, when breakfast ended at 10. they weren't refilling items at this point. coffee was pulled at 940. that was disappointing.
