Professional property host/manager
The Hotel is great. The hotel service was excellent and the food served is very delicious. The rooms were very good and we didn't face any problem during the stay. The staff is very polite. If you are in Jaisalmer then Narayan niwas palace is the best place to live. Thanks Narayan niwas palace Jaislmer management
We were two families visiting as part of the Rajasthan tour. It iwas in the last week of December'19. Surprisingly the hotel staff gave us rooms in the old wing, very run down, wife got shock in the water from the geyser, stench in rooms, no proper wi fi . When we looked around we saw that the hotel were putting up foreign tourist in the new wing which had better appointed rooms with modern amenities. Utterly dissapointed due to the inhospitable behaviour of the Hotel management and total apathy towards the guest needs. STRONGLY RECOMMENDED TO BE BEST AVOIDED.
The property itself looks impressive with traditional stone work all over, The rooms unfortunately are poorly maintained. Plug points hanging, tap loose, corners dirty.
Breakfast was basic but sufficient. But table-clothes were last washed when the Brits still ruled India.
Best host. Lovely location, clean rooms but phones don’t work so if u need anything and are staying on 3rd floor u might as well forget about it. Hot water was irregular possibly because the hotel was full when we went. Staff was averagely responsive.
Stayed here in Dec 2019. we were 4 adults and 2 kids. the hotel itself by the looks is good.. you get a wow feeling and then all the disappointment starts.
1. Check in - was ok.
2. Rooms - poorly maintained. bed lenins were old, torn and with stains.
3. Bathroom - no hot water and it was stinking of drainage. when we asked them to change the room the other guests told that thier bathrooms were also stinking very badly. So finally ended up with Bathroom freshner.
4. Food - we had dinner here & Dining area , tables, the table cloths were not washed for eternity i guess. it had all the stains possible.
the worst was the servers. there were only 3 people and they were the cook, server and dish washer. and they were sooo untidy. they looked like they had not bathed for years.
5. Morning b/f - the most horrible one. they just had bread, jam, Poha and omlette. the cutlery was not washed and all the guest were re using the same cutlery to pick the Jam. coffee and tea spoons were all messed up. i mean just yaaaks to experience this in the morning.
cleaniness was something this hotel had not seen or heard about for years. we went with great expectation and surely it was killed.
i heard from locals that this used to be one of the best hotels , but then the owners keep leasing this property and hence the reputations is gone.
Please dont book your stay here & waste money. i dont think they really want business.
The food stuff is tasty but cold. No chapati served water not available
No lift facility
No medical assistance like wheel chair not available Folding stretcher not available.
My brother from USA was faint at 4am on 1. 1.2020 very difficulty faced by us.
Tourism department must check the facility of fire medical and other amenities where foreign people visit
Inspite of paying a handsome amount and booking the hotel for 3 nights, it was a pathetic experience. The staff was extremely unprofessional and the rooms were shabby and very poorly furnished. The pipes in the washrooms were leaking and they're wasn't even an intercom, no provision of hot water even during peak winters. I regret booking the hotel big time
really liked the location a lot. The owner is very good. Royal feeling inside the hotel campus. Hotel has a very nice lounge..open space. Whole hotel is built out of sandstone.
Breakfast spread is very wide. Restaurant has a very nice ambiance.
We just stayed one night at this old hotel/tradingpost.
On the bright side, it has a charming atmosphere and there is a fantastic view from the top terrasse
On the down side, it is very laud and noisy. Wild dogs kept us up at night and the staff not all that helpful in general
The rooms a bit old, the tv didnt work. The hotel itself is in the center of the city but at least 10 min walk from the old castle
I have mized feelings bur all in all i could recommend especially because of the atmosphere
Our agent in India won a prize for this one! After a succession of pretty ghastly hotels, he sent us here! We were supposed to stay two nights, we lasted 20 minutes. The 20 minutes spent busily searching for somewhere else to stay! Somewhere clean! Somewhere welcoming! When we arrived, the staff eventually found, they sat us down in a filthy lobby area on stained synthetic satin cushions and asked us to wait as the manager was eating his lunch. Eventually, after much asking, we were shown around the vast empty hotel to a room smaller than most of the bathrooms we’d so far seen in India. The bed was unchanged with a ripped bedspread and grease stained pillows, the electrics were dangerous looking. Instead of the Fort view we were promised, there was no window. We moved on pdq...
I stayed here for two nights. Staff were ver cold and fairly rude. The young boys they had there are not properly trained. One sleeps on the couches as bedding by the reception area. The hotel was fairly quite, it’s not very busy, I think I was the only one there. My last morning I was kicked out of my room at 8.30am and sat in the cold outside waiting for my driver, who was picking me up at 9.30. No explanation just ‘luggage’ and ‘here’ directing me outside.Very odd experience overall. The hotel is beautiful and it could be so much better. Bedding was two single beds pushed together for a deluxe room, the bed spreads were tired and stain filled. Did have hot water, but had to waste a bit of water before it was hot. Wifi only in reception areas. Hotel also doubles as school during the week. No menus in the restaurant. Drinks were served warm - I had a coke one day and a beer the next.
Deluxe room allocated was with lot of seepage with dirty linen, without proper room service. The room was with mosquitoes and stinking
Very limited spread for breakfast and they provided fixed dinner.
Property is not properly maintained
Narayan Niwas poses as a heritage hotel property, but heritage is where the experience ends. It would barely qualify as a seedy guest house. The property is located in the middle of the down, down a small lane.
The rooms are small and musty, the toilets broken and don't flush, there is either no hot water or no water, the towels are threadbare with actual holes in them, the bed linen is smelly.
The staff is a bunch of local boys banded together to run errands, they have no clue as to the discipline of hotel management. The lower staff is badly trained and the management staff is plain rude and in the face.
The food is insipid at its best with a run of the mill repetitive menu. There is no Rajasthani cuisine to qualify the heritage property experience. Also, when the rush starts the service simply stops.
We were a group of 3 families, While 2 families got rooms, the property refused booking to the third family, the booking was done via booking.com and the property simply said they don't honor booking.com bookings and also said they don't have spare room, whereas there were several spare rooms available.
If there were a zero rating, this property deserves it.
They are not providing basic eminities like TV
And giving the reason behind that is some customer did not required it ...lol
Not talking about hot water even water is not coming
We had 5 room booking each and every room have problems
Staff is very less and they don't knw anything about your problems
So each and every room have an issue
Final conclusion
Stay away from it
What mistake I have done plz u don't do
Otherwise u ll be here for review
This place is beautiful. The rooms and the place are amazing. I would say the rooftop view of the fort is the best in town. Service needs improvment. When we went it was very quite, but I dont know why.
amazing heritage building. the hotel is truely beautiful however needs some maintainance. could have been much much better then what it is now. however full rating for the building and staff. food not all that great, may be because of off season. surely if we come in season i would like to visit this place.
It was a great experience for me in Jaisalmer once again after almost 10 years, and i knew this was the place. It screams out heritage from its simple design to its intricate workmanship of olden times on its walls, doors and rooms. The food was outstanding as we had some Dal Bati Choorma and a few other Rajasthani dishes. Special compliments to the chef and the staff for providing a great service 24/7. The roof top is a must visit and even if the setup is not there try and sit down take it all n that you see from there, as its the whole jaisalmer and more.
When you drive into the parking, you don't think much of the hotel. But once you climb the stairs and get a glimpse of the interior, you will be dumbfounded by the beauty of the interior.
The spacious and well maintained corridor and the feeling of haweli once you cross the tunnel and enter the area with rooms is magnificent! The rooms were not the best, but the property is beautiful, and the food was good as well. If you want s unique experience and don't have too many demands from the room then Narayan Niwas Palace is the place for you.
The location of this hotel, on a hill overlooking the fort, is a beautiful setting for the wider Jaisalmer view and the grounds are spacious and peaceful with a large, undercover lounge area - the only place we could get wifi. Unfortunately it was too cold to use the pool which I hope would be cleaner in hotter weather.
Our family had two adjacent fort view rooms on the top floor and both rooms were a bit dusty - Jaisalmer is located in the desert - but dust would have been an easy fix before check-in. The rooms were very large with plenty of additional traditional style furniture for R & R. The toilet in one of our rooms leaked onto the floor which created a 'sewage smell'. There were a lot of solar panels on the roof top (also great views and a perfect place to take breakfast to eat) but the hot water took a long time to reach the shower head - up to 15-20 minutes - which made us feel a little guilty about wasting water.
The management were perfunctory, disinterested, but the dining room staff were very friendly and helpful. Buffet breakfast provided a good selection of foods. This hotel does host larger bus groups.
There are rooms on the other side of the hotel so make sure you specify what you want. A lift provides access to upper floors. The location of our rooms meant we looked out on to locals' rooftop and we enjoyed interaction with the friendly, local children but also had the early morning noises in the street below - bring earplugs!!
