Spark by Hilton Winston-Salem University

This hotel was a nice stop along our route to Hilton Head. The staff was super friendly, especially Noah, who seems to be there on the pm/night shift. I called the hotel prior to booking to find out if they could store some medication that needed refrigeration and Noah assured me they could accommodate us. He also told me they had a Universal EV charger so to plug into overnight. It worked well for our Tesla. Noah was one of the nicest, if not the nicest, most helpful front desk people I’ve ever met! The morning crew, including the Manager and the front desk gal with the fashionable frames were also very friendly. I asked where they got the addictive chocolate mints (at the desk) and they gave me a bag full. I tried to refuse…wish I had. The lady who ran the breakfast area was ON IT and that was good, too. If you have pets, the charge was a reasonable $40/room. There are grassy areas and places to walk your dog near an office park. They have a poop can and bags, too. The rooms were average but comfortable. The staff, location, EV charger, and accepting pets made this hotel very worthwhile! Don’t skip it!

My check in was fast and friendly. I had made an online reservation ahead of time. I absolutely love the snack bag that was provided. That's the first time I have ever been given one and I have stayed many different places. The room was very spacious and super super clean. I would say it was the cleanest hotel room I have ever seen. My check out was just as pleasant as my check in. I would definitely stay here again. P.S. the hot chocolate and coffee all the time was an added bonus!

From the moment we entered the Spark hotel we were greeted with friendly staff members. Noah especially helped with giving us restaurant suggestions and ideas about the area! The lobby was pristine! It even had a coffee/tea station for our convenience. The room we stayed in was immaculate! The bed was especially comfortable and I love the pillows! There was even a screensaver on the TV with a personalized welcome message with my name on it! The bathroom was spotless and the shower felt amazing. The breakfast in the morning did not disappoint! The food was fresh and appetizing. The dining area attendant was a hard worker and kept the area spotless! Upon checkout, we met with more friendly faces! We were in town to attend a concert at the LJVM coliseum. This hotel was so convenient to that venue! This was our first experience with Spark hotels, but it will definitely not be our last!

Front desk guy is an absolute jerk. My infant baby started throwing up and we couldn’t stay at the hotel. Would not cancel my transaction, was an absolute jerk about the whole already stressful situation. Charged me for the hotel anyways and wouldn’t refund me.

Hotel stay was AWESOME! Brentney, Reuben, and Deloris were all very professional and welcoming.

Sean at the front desk was excellent. Truly went above and beyond. Unfortunately, the hotel was a disappointment. The toilet was running for 2 days and often didn’t flush. I let the front desk know but nothing was fixed. We also found out that they only offer housekeeping every other day. They never let us know that at check in. Staff was extremely friendly but we can’t recommend this property.

Walls were like paper so we heard everything from other rooms.

The property itself was clean, average. Staff members were very welcoming and friendly. A lot of homeless near the property. There was a pool but was too cold to swim in, felt colder than hose water so that was a bummer my kiddo was super excited. Overall ok stay.

Super friendly staff!

The hotel was very clean and the staff was very friendly. We had a situation with the room next-door to ours. A couple came in and were fighting and screaming most of the evening. As the night progressed, I noticed the smell of marijuana coming from the room. I called the front desk and the front desk clerk came down to confirm and asked them to leave. They did leave, but the smell of marijuana lingered all night long And I had young children in the room with me so that wasn’t fun to be smelling that the whole night. I’m not sure how full the hotel was, but it would have been nice to have been offered to move to a different room or even to have been given a refund Because sleeping in a room that smelled like marijuana all night was not on my agenda.

Don't promise EV charging if not active...folks depend on it!

It was a clean, comfortable, and convenient. The staff was very friendly.
