Visited here for the weekend a couple weeks ago. Overall average experience. The loation is great but much like the rest of the United States it suffers from a serious issue of degradation. There was mold in the room, the curtains were barely hanging on, the night manager was an absolute pain to deal with when checking in, absolutely the opposite of Hospitable. Besides this manager, the entire staff from sky bar to valet was amazing. Just wish hotels would dial in the experience much more especially when asking for such insane amounts of money. The experience overall was surreal, the views and historical significance of the area probably saves this location. Overall a visit, hotel operations have tons of improvement to do so do not expect a luxurious experience.
I stayed for a conference and arrived early morning, had jet lagged, didn’t expect the room to be ready by that time and was willing to wait.
The female receptionist was very kind and found a room that was available. (Didn’t get the name, but you are wonderful!)
When I just arrived at the door, Azis at the door greeted me kindly and assisted with luggage and offered assistance to the room. He also helped me getting around the area. Truly an asset!
Housekeeping service was excellent and fantastic. All my items were organized, fresh towels provided again. Asked for a toothpaste and it was delivered in timely manner.
Food at the conference was delicious. All the banquet staff were incredible. Shout out to Moses-I think(Spanish speaking gentleman) who always smiles!
Breakfast was great too!
Sauna and Steam room were top notch as well as the pool and spa area.
Definitely will come back and will recommend!
The only issue was the phone in the room didn’t work, i reported to the front desk and the gentleman was very kind to offer me to fix it but I declined. Not a big deal!
Additionally, maybe for guest’s items in the room should not be moved to different places. (organized is okay but not moved) - I don’t know if that is the procedure but thought to just throw an opinion.
But overall, exceptional!!!
I left as an extremely happy guest :)
From the time we checked in to the time we left everyone was friendly and helpful. DaRon checked us in day one and went above and beyond when welcoming us to the hotel and DC. Sammy was always helpful with the door for my wife and I and everyone has a smile. What a great hotel Thank you all
We arrived at this hotel as part of a holiday travelling round the US. Al laws well on arrival and our room seemed ideal apart from some of the ceiling lights didn’t work. When we got in bed we realised that there was a crackling noise coming from the broken lights. We were disturbed by a porter mistakenly bringing us room service which we hadn’t ordered. He apologised and a few minutes later the reception rang and again apologised. The following morning we notified the front desk of the lighting problem and as there was only one coffee mug in our room requested a second which was delivered. The next evening we had another wrongly directed room service order delivered to our room and again we received an apology from the porter and then another call from reception. The lights were still not fixed and crackling as an engineer had attended and stated he needed a new part. We had put a load of laundry in for cleaning and on the last morning before we checked out we received a call from the management informing us that as an apology for the disturbances they would waiver the cost of the laundry which we thanked them for. We left on good terms and a few days later we received a feedback request which we completed giving our honest opinion. Within a few hours we were charged for the laundry cost which had been written off and nearly a month later the hotel is still holding over £300 against our credit card even though I have written to them asking it to be released as we hadn’t spent anything at the hotel other than laundry which was charged separately
Housekeeping thorough and thoughtful
Five star stroll down Mad Men Hotel.
This Hotel even exceeded My 5star expectations.. The Hotel was immaculate.. The BEST part were The Staff.. The Spa, Room Service.. Completely Delighted with INSTANT communication for anything from Breakfast in Bed.. to a Midnight Bucket of Ice.!!
Hotel Location is excellent for all the tourist sights all were within a 30 min walk
Atmosphere Upon arrival we were greeted by a friendly and extremely helpful Young Bellboy who was one of only 2 people who proved to be helpful, the other being the concierge Otherwise had the atmosphere of a coldstore
The remainder of the staff had either forgotten how to be welcoming ,smile or resolve issues such as having no tv for the final evening of our stay or having a extra charge for transport , which we had paid for before our arrival -this was finally removed albeit begrudgingly after i pointed it out and i was made to feel as being a nuisance for asking for a revised bill
Great location
Not a great hotel to be made to feel to welcome in
The Watergate Hotel is worthy of its 5 stars , lovely rooms, great rooftop bar and the staff were very polite and friendly . This is definitely a 5 star hotel with 5 star prices , drinks and food pricey but honestly that’s expected in a 5 star hotel so no complaints from us . The location in George Town was great with lots of restaurants nearby and was buzzing !
My only disappointment was when I asked the girl at reception if we could visit the Scandal Suite I had read this was a “ must do “ and very interesting, HOWEVER I was shocked that we would have to pay $75 to see the room especially as we were residents at the hotel , we decided not to do this which was disappointing but charging a fee to see the suite was not what we expected and frankly a bit of a cheek !!
Still given 5 stars for hotel rating as that was the only hiccup in our stay !
Dirty rooms. Outdated.
10 minutes easy walk to PAHO headquarters
Pretty rough crowd. Lots of noise and parties. Parking at the hotel is $65 but you can park in the garage around the corner and under the hotel for $16. It’s kind of a sketchy walk from there to the hotel doors after dark though. It was interesting for the history of the place, but I would probably not stay here again.
Nice staff
.
Staff wasn’t attentive at all toilet was overflowing for 2 hrs we keep calling no answer. TV and WIFI didn't work the weekend we were there. Front desk staff was not pleasant at all. Overall, not a good experience for how much you are paying.
We were booked in the wrong room and told that there were no other options. But the waitstaff was very nice and friendly.
This hotel is very expensive so why charge $65 for my car.
I enjoyed my experience greatly. Outside of Expedia pricing discrepancy between the king and double bed rooms, I would definitely revisit. Looking to become a member. Thanks for the quality!
I was absolutely blow away with our experience here. I have to give a huge thank you to Ray at the front desk and Yab, one of the bell hops. This was our last night in DC and we spontaneously chose Watergate and happened to choose the Scandal Room. We had stopped at two hotels prior to getting to Watergate and the customer service was so terrible but this place really made up for it and it worked out perfectly because this was definitely the place for us. The salt water pool was exactly what we needed after this long week of travel and all of the friendly faces and wonderful accommodations and food made it over all a wonderful experience and we cannot wait to come back.
Staff was very accommodating
