Square Hotel at Times Square

Cristaly at the desk was so so lovely! So courteous and gracious with her time when I was asking for tips for what to get up to for the day definitely deserves a raise! Hotel was also super central which was great and all the staff were so helpful during the heat in giving us free water bottles whenever needed. Only docked a point for small things like water pressure for the shower but likely just due to it being an old building. Rooms were very tidy and the bed was extremely comfortable which was needed after a long day of sightseeing. Highly recommend

The hotel was good. Lighting is definitely an issue in the rooms.very dark but it’s in a great location to see everything. Staff were very helpful.

The location was good. It was convenient to tour the highlights of New York.
The room was a little bit small by the way.
And I could hear the noise from outside.
But hotel staffs were very kind. Especially Prisulla! She was amazing, the best staff ever! Thank you!

I was traveling with students with 4 total rooms. When i called to confirm our stay the day before I was told by the person who answered that that the hotel was closed as of the previous afternoon. I DID NOT RECEIVE ANY PRIOR NOTIFICATION FROM EITHER THE HOTEL OR EXPEDIA. After more than 90 minutes Expedia was able to rebook the rooms in a hotel that was in a good location, but was not as noce as was indicated in the previous booking or the second booking website

Loved it! Quiet, clean and affordable

Listen...it's a real great convenient spot to stay. I don't really mind that the sheets weren't changed—they just made the bed—or that the candy wrapper I left on the night stand was swept under the bed. I was confused why no one told me that the hotel would unlock my room for an engineer to come in within the few hours that I left for dinner to remove my deadbolt. I came back trying to secure my room for my own personal safety and could not do so. The point of a lock is so that I could prevent strangers from using the hotel key card to creep up on me while I'm asleep.

What was even more unsettling was that a tall man in a black suit who I have never seen before, knocked on my hotel door minutes after I went down to the lobby to ask about my deadbolt "assure me that he is watching the floor".

During my conversation with staff at the lobby, they found out that the e-mail I had written down on file during my check-in was also entered into the system incorrectly. Even after the staff corrected the e-mail telling me that they would investigate, I have no follow up on the incident by any staff or hotel e-mails. Personally, I wouldn't bothering helping out either but any contact would have been nice.

Great experience overall. Take nothing from my experience, except the fact that I do think it's a great hotel with friendly service. Be vigilant of your surroundings so that you and your belongings don't go missing. If you're looking for a cheap place to sleep this is it.

Overall the property was great except that it was very loud all the time and the walls are thin

I got in late and they were just very whatever. The staff was rude and curt. When I asked for anything they would keep talking to each other and I would have to ask twice for anything. I would avoid unless you’re super desperate.

The rooms were sad and small and the bed sagged in the middle.

Unclean rooms, leaky washroom/shower, smelly carpet. Friendly engineers/cleaners but other staff rude.

I enjoyed my stay at Square Hotel, Only thing missing was a Fridge to keep my food from spoiling. Other then that Staff was very helpful during my stay. Thank you!

Ideal location for a stay in New York. Friendly staff, clean hotel.

We booked this hotel based on the reviews we had read that said it was excellent. And those reviews were accurate. The location is fantastic. You can walk to the MOMA, Central Park and Times Square from here plus there are multiple subway stations nearby so you can go anywhere. The hotel restaurant and bar are also excellent too. The staff was super friendly and accommodating, as we were there earlier than check-in time.
For the price, you won’t find better than this place. Finally, the rooms were bigger than we expected. We have been coming to the city for years and have seen smaller rooms.

Room was small but comfortable and adequate for our purposes. The location was perfect, as we were in NYC to see Wicked, which is playing at the Gershwin, right across the street from the hotel. The only issue we encountered was that the cleaning staff attempted to open the door while we were sleeping.

Staff is friendly during check in. The place itself is pretty shabby. The room is small and the air condition smell moldy. It was around 50 degrees outside but it still felt warm inside because they have the ac setting locked. It works for 2 seconds then stops. It felt stuffy.

Exceptionally, I would like to share my experience at the Square Hotel regarding the staff and not the facilities.
I would especially like to thank Cristaly & Dalia for their great help during my stay in NY.
Indeed, they helped me when none of my credit cards were working. They took time to reassure me and find a solution.
Again, a very big thank you to them2. Without them, the stay could not have been what it was.

Good central location

Needed to stay overnight for work. Good location, quiet on weeknights. Small but has everything I needed for one night.
