The Belleclaire continues to offer a first-class experience in a beautiful, boutique Art-Deco setting. Beginning with Benedict, who remembered us from our last stay, the entire staff is highly professional, welcoming, and helpful. Benedict was able to upgrade our room and everyone worked to accommodate room requests or special needs. The rooms are immaculate; they have been renovated and you’ll find they’ve retained the charm of the original design with all the modern comforts: wood floors, luxury robes and bedding, new tile in the bathroom, new heating and cooling systems. The complimentary breakfast is classic European: a small bakery next door serves delicious croissants, cinnamon rolls, or breakfast sandwiches. There are numerous diners and restaurants within walking distance to satisfy all prices and tastes. I was in town for operas; Lincoln Center is just 10 blocks away. Cabs are easy to hail, as this quaint Upper West Side area is not congested like Times Square. There is also very easy access to the subway and Central Park. Broadway is ten minutes away, but you’ll feel you’re in the “real” NYC, surrounded by brownstones on side streets. Come back for happy hour for cocktails and chef-prepared small plates if you’re looking for a light bite in the elegant lounge. You can expect a good night’s sleep in the quiet hotel on first-class beds with luxury linens. Everywhere you go, you’ll find the friendly staff, ready to make your stay even more enjoyable. I’ll continue to return, every time I visit. Laura M.
This was the best trip ever! Everyone was so amazing and very nice. I looked forward to greeting Edward every single night, he was the best!
We stayed for a week with our dog. Great location, small but cozy lounge area, very friendly staff (Edward is awesome), and quite dog friendly. The rooms are well kept but showing their age a little bit - I had some minor issues with the ventilation due to it being an old building + my allergies, but other than that, a great stay!
Highly recommended hotel with super location (residential are), to feel NY pulse! Amazing facility and super friendly and helpful staff!
Will be back 100%!
I would first definitely like to mention our door man Edward he was absolutely fantastic and he worked so hard and made great conversations with us he remembered us each day we came in if you see him while you stay here definitely say hello and tip him he deserves it in my opinion he was also very positive
The check-in was easy & actually fun! The staff members were most attentive and their good spirit was infectious despite the super cold weather. The breakfast offered was outstanding. We will return!
Since we got into the hotel, they received us with friendly attitude and Benedict was very polite and the rest of the team like Maria. They assigned us the room 912 with a great view of part of Broadway avenue and part of the roof with a neo victorian & beaux arts architecture. The hotel was designed by a well known Architect Emery Rott. I really appreciated the interiors of the hall and main lobby and restaurant. Mostly Art Deco but with a contemporary twist, on the entrance/hall on the right wall there are Abstract monochromatic Art that matches with the monochromatic tile floor (original from 1910's)
As tourist we didn't have a particular schedule to exit and return and every night when we returned they were always with a nice and friendly attitude offering us tangerines and water.
The room was great, super comfy beds, even if the bathroom is kind of small is very functional, the towels with a good cotton quality.
The housekeeping team were very professional and helpful when we asked for something else.
French Bakery is a must have, is a plus of the Hotel and Lush cosmetics on the right of main entrance as well!
We never expected to have a wonderful experience in a Hotel far away of Times Square.
Strategic location next to Subway Station 79 (2 blocks) Barnes & Noble (5 Blocks) Subway station 72 & Bloomingdales Outlet (5 blocks) and Lincoln Center (7 blocks)
The hotel was super clean, accommodating, and had a chic atmosphere. The doorman Edward was amazing and made sure we had everything we needed. His hospitality was 10/10 and I would 100% come back!
Edwards’s was the most sweetest door man very helpful with our bags and always making us feel welcome thank you Edward
Nice rooms and atmosphere! Edward, one of the doormen, was super helpful and nice!!
Had a wonderful time there Edward was an amazing doorman
Love the hotel belleclaire! Everyone there is so welcoming and friendly, especially Edward! He made this group of Arizona girls laugh and helped us so much navigate where to go. Also, the hotel rooms were so clean and comfortable. We’ll be back!!
I very much enjoyed my week-long stay at the hotel during the recent big snowstorm and cold spell in NYC. The hotel staff were all extremely pleasant, chatty, and warm. I'm a long-term Marriott client, but was looking for something a bit more personal on this NYC visit, as well as a place on the Upper West Side. The day I checked in every guest seems to be a repeat visitor, and Shanies and Maria at the front desk seem to know every returning guest by name. I love older properties with character, and the BelleClaire is such a place.
Overall, I found the hotel very quiet and clean, even with a room near the main two elevators. Some rooms are sparsely furnished and guests should be aware of this when booking. The front desk was quickly accommodating when I told them I needed to move to a room with a dresser, given the seven-night length of my stay, The lobby bar with the twice-weekly free wine hours is a real treat, and the French bakery cafe and its staff just off the front lobby is fantastic...I know many of us snowed in during that storm were happy to make multiple visits each day for warm drinks, pastries, and sandwiches, and the seating area proved very social.
The location also is great. Midway between two stops on the No 1 subway with plenty of restaurants and shops nearby, as well as Fairway and Zabar's for groceries. And it is a short walk to Lincoln Center, the Beacon Theatre, and a big AMC movie complex. I run most days, so appreciated it was only a few minutes easy run to either Central Park or the Greenway along the Hudson River. And whoever laid out the hotel's small fitness room put some thought into it, choosing just enough equipment to enable a wide variety of workouts.
Perfect location in the Upper West Side! A few streets away from the 1-2-3 subway line stops to bring you back into midtown, yet far enough away from the chaos below the park to appreciate the neighborhood feel.
Spacious rooms and shower for city hotel, loved that breakfast credits at the bakery downstairs were included. 10/10 would stay again
This was, by far, the BEST hotel experience in all my trips to NYC! We were visiting Manhattan for my wife’s 50th Birthday. David arranged for some very thoughtful surprises at our arrival. Amanda at the front desk was absolutely amazing with her welcoming personality. And when we left, Benedict who checked us out was wonderfully gracious, topping off a truly exceptional stay!
You can tell the staff works as a team to make this a special experience!
Hotel Belleclaire was the perfect spot to relax after a busy day exploring the city! The Broadway view King bed room was spacious and beautifully designed. The bed was especially comfortable. Everyone at the front desk was very friendly and the doormen super helpful. Couldn’t have asked for a better retreat at the end of the day!
This was our second trip to this fabulous location. The staff are obviously well led. From the front desk to the room cleaning staff they are extremely friendly and professional. They went out of their way to make sure we were satisfied with our room. Our room was very quiet, clean and comfortable. I would suggest that everyone take the opportunity to stay in the Broadway View King Suite, if possible. The two gentlemen at the front door took care of our luggage and made sure all our transportation needs were met. I am looking forward to our next stay at Hotel Bellaclaire.
Hotel Belleclaire is beautiful and in perfect walking distance to Central Park. The hotel decor is lovely and the Cafe breakfast was delicious - the vouchers were appreciated! The bed was the comfiest we'd had on our trip in NY and the team were very friendly whenever we went out and about for the day. It's a busy hotel but still quiet - thank you for a wonderful stay and end to our trip!
Perfect Upper West Side location! Two blocks to subway and busses; walk to Lincoln Center, Natural Hustory Museum. Tons of restaurants nearby. Hotel spotless, staff helpful and friendly. Bar beautiful. No complaints! Will make this my NYC go to hotel!
Worst hotel experience ever! Literally there was no heat, no hot water, no desk, no chair, no minny fridge... Very very small rooms. My view is of an ally... All for $300 plus
