Another great stay
Pros:

We always stay at the Sofitel when we go to NYC. It’s centrally located and we loved the renovated look this time. The lobby feels more inviting and the decor throughout has been refreshed. The beautiful flower arrangement by the elevators is an elegant touch.

The rooms are perfect for sleeping: quiet (we never hear neighboring rooms), dark (good blackout curtains), and cool (great AC). There’s excellent lighting in the bathroom, as well as a makeup mirror. We also noticed there was a clothes steamer in our closet, which is very handy.

My only complaint is that you can hear other doors slamming loudly in the hallway. I don’t recall that being the case before the renovation, so I’m not sure if something changed. If a slow-closing mechanism could be installed, that would be much appreciated. Otherwise great stay!

Amazing team with every morning smile and wonderful service from the breakfast team (Arian and Manuel)! You were our everyday sunshine during our stay!
Also big thanks to Gilbert for his kind welcome. We had a fantastic room.

Perfect location with average service.
Pros:

Location, right between 5 and 6 avenues, close to the Theatre district with many dining options around. Perfect views from the room, the hotel is just after renovation.

Cons:

The staff is somewhat uninterested in what is going on. Everyone is polite but are not seem to be interested in helping the guest unless asked for. Room cleaning is ok, however nothing except the towels was replaced during the stay - no paper cups (!) for coffee, no Nespresso capsules, no drinks in the minibar, no bathrobes left on the floor to be changed. Every morning had to call the housekeeping and wait for 15-20 minutes for all those basic things.

Wonderful stay!
Pros:

Wonderful service, gotta say. Kenia and Felix were absolute legends in getting us an early checkin and Eddie in the bfast area was wonderfully kind to our two young boys. Would stay again!

Petit déjeuner compris dans notre réservation booking, est prévu 1 boisson chaude + 1 jus de fruit+ 1 plat du menu , mini viennoiserie offerte, le reste est en sus mais prix raisonnable. très bien placé et personnel très agréable surtout au petit déj, salle de sport pas testée, belle décoration générale des lieux

Cons:

une machine à café et thé dans la chambre serait appréciable, nous étions au 4e étage, donc pas de vue particulière
le prix reste élevé mais c'est le Sofitel

Not what I was expecting
Pros:

This hotel had pros and cons for me.

Pros: The bed was supremely comfortable. One of the best beds I’ve ever slept in at a hotel. The rooms were quiet. The bathrooms were huge for NYC. The room was very clean. All the staff I interacted with were pleasant.

Cons: I thought the hotel would be more chic. I didn’t really like the aesthetic. There were people hanging out in the lobby that detracted from the hotel ambiance. Wasn’t impressed with the restaurant and the free coffee was very weak - undrinkable for me. The view from the room was not that great.

Overall…for a French hotel it wasn’t very French at all. But some good things about it.

Beautiful, comfortable and friendly
Pros:

My wife and I stayed here this past weekend during a high school reunion trip. Everything was perfect from beginning to end. From the moment we walked in, everyone was so helpful. We asked questions of the bellman, the concierge and the front desk and got great answers with a smile. Our room was terrific. I heard the hotel was recently refreshed - indeed it was like new including the lobby where we hung out for a bit as well as our room. We also loved the location being so close to Times Square, subways, restaurants, Bryant Park. We will definitely stay at Sofitel New York again!

Excellent Experience at the Sofitel New York
Pros:

Excellent property in a wonderful location. The room is spacious and open. Front office manager Rafael provided outstanding service and went above and beyond to accommodate us. I would definitely return when I'm back in the city.

I'll be back.
Pros:

An eventful stay during the February snowstorm. Staff are outstanding. Special thanks to Ben and Jose for their help on the Saturday night. Bijou you really are a jewel, it was a pleasure to meet you.
The renovation, with lighter colour schemes, make the rooms seem larger and brighter. For Midtown room rates are quite good value. Location is great and this part of 44th St really provides an oasis of calm. The new long (and sociable) table in the bar/restaurant gives a nod to the bouillons parisiens, and while you won't dine out for the equivalent of 20 euro, the food is excellent and not overtly over-priced.
Already looking forward to my stay in August.
