Excellent location, friendly and helpful staff, free coffee, tea and water (plus cookies) at the lobby 24/7, option to request for specialty pillows
Dirty curtains, cracked bathroom sink
They let us in before check in and we were so grateful ☺️. The beautiful bartender was so friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful time with her. She made us feel very welcome. Friendly and helpful staff.
The beds were a wee bit uncomfortable but clean rooms ☺️
Great room, I looooved the bathtub and all the pillow options.
Old carpet on corridors.
Chancellor Hotel is in perfect location in the heart of the city at Union Square. The famous cable tram runs right in front of the hotel. It is somewhat dated, what can be seen on the furniture, narrow lift and corridors, no airconditioning (yet top ventilator), however, it also means that the hotel has unique authentic spirit. Bad was comfortable and bathroom well equipped. I stayed on 2nd floor with street window and as hotel has simple windows I could hear the noise from street - however, it has not been disturbing. The staff is friendly and while the hotel does not have restaurant and breakfast room, it offers to its client in the reception area coffee, tea, water, apples, cookies, ... My experience was very positive, pleasant and if I am comming back to SF I would prefer to stay here.
Great customer service, great location. Easy access to parking.
Couldn’t get the tv to connect or work.
The room was nice. It was close to everything the staff was really nice.
The location is magnificent, and Union Square is just a one-minute walk. The cafe machine and the fruits and cookies provided in the lobby are all very sweet.
Clean and water and coffee stations.
Halls are a little outdated but no big deal.
bon séjour et literie confortable
pas apprécié le chambre trop petite pour un standard US
Friendly,Clean and very comfortable
There was nothing we didn’t like ❤️
The staff is helpful and approachable and the boutique hotel is charming in its "oldness". Good places to eat within walking distance.
The lack of air conditioning is tough. They make it clear (somewhat) on their website but if you book through another site (like Booking.com) you may miss this EXTREMELY important detail, like I did. The hotel is not equipped to help you with climate control if you are caught out on a hot stay. I had to Instacart 2 large box fans to my suite in order to make it through my business trip -- they were both blowing on my bed full blast all night.
Excellent location, especially for shoppers. Plenty of designer stores are just steps away, making it easy to pop back to the hotel, drop off your bags, and continue shopping. Very convenient and enjoyable stay.
This is an older hotel without air conditioning. I was aware of this since it’s my second stay, but it’s really not ideal in spring or summer—the rooms get very hot and have an unpleasant smell. Even with a ceiling fan and desk fan, the heat and odor are still unbearable.
The front desk staff are friendly and casual, but the bell staff all have poor attitudes. In particular, a gentleman named Harris is rude and ignores greetings like ‘good morning’ or ‘thank you,’ even when making eye contact. Another male staff member, wearing a thick bracelet, just stands and watches without offering help when us bringing in luggage. Overall, it was disappointing, especially for a repeat stay.
