The Sunset Hotel West End

We chose to stay at the Sunset Hotel in downtown Vancouver due its walkability to Stanley Park, Granville Island, The museum, Vancouver Aquarium and downtown as a whole. We arrived late in the evening but easily gained access to the hotel and our room as the staff had sent us an email with all the info earlier in that day. The Sunset is located on a quiet street, but being downtown there is some road noise or sirens, but we didn't find it too loud. The hotel overall was quiet - we stayed during the week and found the Superior King to have all the necessary items to eat meals in or we could walk to nearby restaurants. The rooms were clean and I loved the soaps and lotions that were in our room. It was nice to have the amenity closet in the lobby to grab items like coffee and tea when we needed more. There was an umbrella stand in the lobby, but we brought our own so we didn't use them. We did use the luggage lockers on checkout day as our flight didn't leave until late in the day. It was very convenient to lock them up, go to the aquarium and then come pick them up before walking to the Yaletown Roundhouse Station to catch the skytrain to the airport. Overall we would definitely stay here again.

I have stayed at the Sunset Hotel several times prior to its current renovation. In the past, you could get breakfast and a warm smile included with your stay. I really missed having that as a feature.
I stayed on the 11th floor again and the view of the city at night was colorful. The unit itself was quiet, clean and well appointed and the bed was very comfortable. The kitchenette and the bathroom were quite small but all of the amenities were present. The balcony had two chairs but the area was quite dirty.
I have to say that I am not a fan of their remote check in and check out. I understand it's utility during covid times but nowadays, I find it too impersonal and an obvious cost cutting measure. I prefer when there is an actual person available in a hotel at the front desk. Pay attention on the check in app as to whether or not you will be using the parking, because if you forget to say that you're not, you may automatically be charged $47.50 for parking.
While the location of the hotel is close to Davie Street and many restaurants, it is quite a walk away from Rogers Place or any of the larger venues, so plan to take an Uber. Also the price of a one-night stay is more than other similar hotels in the same area which provide personal service, and food on site.

I had the pleasure of staying at the Sunset for a week in January. My room was spacious with a southern view of the city which was very good. Excellent facilities within the room itself - good bathroom and kitchen. Noises were minor other than the sounds of the city. Bedroom was good as well and the sleep quality was excellent in my experience. Great location in the West End with easy access to everything the city has to offer. Everything was very clean and of a high standard. Strong value proposition and I have no complaints about the service. Strong recommendation.

Hôtel dans le centre de Vancouver. Pas mal de petits restaurants autour pour se restaurer rapidement.
Les codes pour ouvrir la porte d’entrée et la chambre sont très pratiques lorsqu’on voyage à plusieurs.
Il y a la possibilité d’emprunter des parapluies et au mois d’octobre c’est très pratique…
La chambre que nous avons eue était propre. Les savons et shampooing sentaient très bon.
Pour nous déplacer nous avons beaucoup utilisé les voitures Evo, voitures que l’on prend et qu’on laisse au gré de nos déplacements. Le parc automobile est très grand et il y a toujours une voiture de disponible à côté de l’endroit où l’on est. Quand on est 4 cela revient à moins cher que les transports en commun. On est allé jusqu’à l’aéroport.

Location was excellent for restaurants and services. The staff very helpful and the room so big and well appointed. Netflix was a bonus and well used when the rain came down.

Great location, walkable to places to eat and drink. Very large space, large comfortable beds, and kitchenette was fully equipped with oven, fridge-freezer, coffee machine, and toaster. We had everything we needed. Check in was all done online before hand, and we had codes to into the building and our room. There was also staff at reception when we arrived.
