The Jefferson is a wonderful hotel, a real gem, with a wonderful atmosphere and amazing staff. This boutique hotel is superbly positioned just a 5 minute walk from The White House and walking distance to the many museums.
The rooms are well appointed with huge very comfortable beds - the bathroom has an amazingly powerful shower which is very welcome after treading the sidewalks of DC each day.
I must make mention of Ryan and Omar who went out of their way to help my wife and myself. Nothing was too much trouble and they took a genuine interest in assisting ourselves and other guests.
Having travelled to many countries over the years, I don’t think I have encountered the level of service they provided - they are both a great asset to The Jefferson and hope we cross paths again in the future!
One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Truly loved our time here
Beautiful hotel with absolutely amazing staff. We traveled with our Siberian Husky, and she was genuinely welcomed—something that made our stay even more special. The dog bed, along with water and food bowls, was truly above and beyond our expectations. We also loved the dog-friendly patio at the hotel bar, which made it easy to relax and enjoy our time together.
Thank you to everyone at The Jefferson for such a thoughtful and memorable experience. We will absolutely be back.
The hotel is intimate and sophisticated! The service is impeccable and the staff is lovely. Ryan, the manager is wonderful and goes out of his way! It is the only hotel I want to stay in when Im visiting DC!
The Jefferson is a beautiful hotel, and their staff is exceptional. I’ve had the privilege of traveling extensively and staying at some of the world’s best hotels, and the manager, Omar, is in a class of his own. He was warm, hospitable, and friendly. He remembered us by name, and we genuinely looked forward to seeing his smiling face after a long day of exploring the city. Ultimately, the people are what make an experience memorable, and his attention to detail and professionalism is why this hotel stands apart.
The Jefferson is the best hotel in Washington, period. It is elegant, yet not stuffy; the staff is caring and well-trained, and the facilities are relaxing. The best feature by far is the attentive staff, from reception to waiters and hostesses: all are extremely professional and courteous.
The rooms vary in size, but all are comfortable. The room my wife and I stayed in had a large closet and drawers, truly scarce now in hotels designed for short stays. We stayed for five days and the closet and drawers were absolutely a necessity.
The Greenhouse (dining room) offers a delightful breakfast and The Quill (the bar) comes alive at night. My favorite part of the hotel: the Library! Small but with a great selection of books.
Due to weather issues in February and March we had to extend our reservations twice, and, sure enough, on both occasions the staff worked to allow us to stay, and to stay in the same room.
We have been staying at The Jefferson for many years, and, it has become our home away from home. The caring staff are its soul.
The Jefferson is our favorite hotel in Washington DC. The room was beautiful. The food was delicious both in the restaurant and room service. The staff were all 5 stars. They were lovely , helpful and very polite. I highly recommend this hotel for any length of stay in DC.
Truly, my husband and I think it is the best in the city!
Delivers an intimate, highly refined experience centered on service and classic elegance rather than full resort amenities.
While the hotel does feature a small, serene spa and a well equipped fitness center that is clean, thoughtfully stocked, and convenient, it notably lacks a pool, something some travelers expect at this price point.
Dining is a standout strength, with The Greenhouse and Quill Bar frequently praised for high quality breakfasts, cocktails, and consistently excellent service, making the hotel a destination for food as much as lodging.
Overall, it excels as a quiet, service-driven luxury stay with exceptional dining, but its limited wellness amenities make it feel more like a refined city boutique hotel than a full-service resort.
What can I say? 10/10 experience. I was in a suite. The room was quiet and well appointed. The bathroom was roomy, with a spectacular shower. The mattress was the most comfortable I’ve ever slept on.
The staff was friendly and warmly greeted us every time we encountered them.
Check in was efficient and allowed us to check in early.
We had breakfast twice at the restaurant. It is good, but not outstanding. It’s reliable, and the servers are professional. Our meals were prepared quickly.
The hotel’s location is in an area convenient to the capital, monuments, and the Cap arena.
The Jefferson is our go-to every year when we visit DC for a hockey game.
The Jefferson continues to impress with its consistent excellent service, well-maintained and pleasant rooms and strong F&B options. It is an excellent base for central DC needs, avoiding the need to trek in from Georgetown and the cluster of good hotels there and permitting walking with the right weather to most meetings (or sights).
I stayed at this hotel while traveling for business and had a very positive experience. The property is well maintained, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the overall atmosphere made it easy to relax after a busy workday.
I especially want to recognize Sasha for providing excellent service during my stay. Sasha was professional, attentive, and very helpful, making sure everything went smoothly from arrival through the duration of my visit. It’s clear that Sasha takes pride in delivering a high level of hospitality.
Overall, a reliable and comfortable place to stay for business travel. I would gladly stay here again.
Amazing staff and hotel 10/10
Just back from three nights at The Jefferson over MLKJr weekend. Check-in was very personal, my suite was comfortable and spacious, dining at The Greenhouse was enjoyable, and drinks at Quill were fun. Above all, the service is the reason I have stayed at this Washington classic more often than not when in town. I can't say enough good things about the friendly and professional staff. Everyone is eager to help with any issue or need. The hotel is elegant, intimate, pleasant, and spotless - in short, the perfect stay.
My family’s four-night stay was excellent. From Ryan and the team at front desk, the gentlemen who greet you at front door, dining and room service staff, concierge Omar and others.
Everyone was courteous and responded to questions on sites to see with kids, Metro and walking directions and tips on holiday attractions.
Missed elegant Greenhouse since was with younger kids though meals from Quill allowed us to eat in privacy with a toddler in Cabinet rooms.
Gym in basement fits bill for vacation workouts and is clean with punching bag and free weight dumbbells to keep fit.
And Deluxe Suite room offers comfortable sofa bed for kids and excellent king bed for parents. As well soaking tub, shower and TV within mirror are excellent.
There is no other place I want to stay in DC. My mom and I took a weekend trip and loved every aspect of the property from arrival with the staff to cocktails at Quill, brunch and dinner at the Greenhouse and the room and location. This past weekend had nicer weather for December, so we were able to walk from the hotel to the African American Museum, White House and other monuments.
Beautiful facility, very well maintained. 15 min walk to DuPont and White House. Staff 100% very friendly, courteous, attentive and helpful. Very good breakfast at the Greenhouse restaurant. Bartenders were friendly, excellent selection at the Quill bar. Would definitely stay again.
I travel extensively and I would rate the Jefferson among the very best hotels in the world! The service was exceptional across the board and the location is in the heart of the action in D.C.. My suite was a private and cozy oasis with a comfortable sitting room parlor and deep soaking tub. The Quill Bar is a delight with outstanding cocktails, tasty bites, top-notch service and an intimate atmosphere. Mike the bartender makes a delicious martini and the Quill burger and oysters are a must. The Jefferson makes every guest feel special and every aspect of my experience was exceptional. I did not want to leave and cannot wait to return! The Jefferson is my go-to in D.C.!
The Jefferson DC is a true gem situated at the top of Embassy Row but still convenient to all of the sites. After being a Hilton loyalist and staying at many properties in the city, this may just be my home base from now on after the hospitality and level of service The Jefferson and its team demonstrate for a five-star hotel.
Being there during Christmastime also brought that extra level of magic to this property! The decorations are exquisite from the moment you walk in and carry into The Greenhouse restaurant, The Quill, and book room
Be sure to stop by the concierge to learn about the history of the property along with the documents displayed in the lobby area signed by Thomas Jefferson.
We were graciously upgraded from a classic to a deluxe room and this is another reason why this property is special. They have thought of every little touch. A complimentary shoe shine, filtered water in glass bottles, incredible robes and slippers, lovely bathroom amenities, a tv in the bathroom mirror (yes you read that correctly!), a very nice turndown service, a large closet, furnishings and decor, and twice a day housekeeping. The beds are great!
We had drinks and apps at The Quill which were so so fun and delicious as well as oysters that were fantastic. Breakfast at The Greenhouse was WOW. The avocado toast was a piece of artwork and the crispy potatoes were a fun play on hash browns.
All in all we had the very best stay and met wonderful people who make The Jefferson DC a superb property from the doormen to new food and bev manager. Thank you for a fabulous visit!
The staff at The Jefferson is superb. The doormen, bell staff and reception team offered a VIP welcome and ensured that our every need was fulfilled. Our room was well-appointed and spacious. Our expansive bathroom was equipped with dual sinks, a soaking tub and a generous shower.
The Jefferson is centrally located. Walk on fine days or access the best of Washington (White House, Capitol, Smithsonian Museums, Kennedy Center, Georgetown, shopping, dining) with a 5-10 minute cab ride.
The Greenhouse restaurant provides a lovely brunch and lavish breakfasts, both with thoughtful, attentive service. The cast-iron baked eggs are a must at brunch. We tremendously enjoyed a nightcap at Quill, the Jefferson’s cozy bar.
Take time to savor the Jefferson’s historic details. The marquee over the front door is both embracing and dramatic, and the lobby is stately. The Book Room is a quaint library filled with reproductions of 17th and 18th century books, supplemented by recent volumes written and signed by guests of the hotel. Most strikingly, documents signed by Thomas Jefferson, including presidential papers and a salary cheque to his coachman, are displayed in a hallway off the lobby. The hotel has its own historian, who is available to the public from 9 am — 1 pm on Saturdays.
We look forward to returning to this exceptional hotel.
My family enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner at the Greenhouse dining room with drinks later at the Quill, fun and historic. Manager Sasha made our multi day trip very smooth and pleasant. The intimate Jefferson stands apart from other hotels in DC.
