The check in
Dinner reservation had been made and paid for, and placement of table was well below par for a 5 star hotel. It was set off from the other tables - a 6 seater table set for two behind the cutlery and condiment section with a ghetto blaster delivering music to the whole dinner area. Staff were argumentative regarding the discussion. A table was later offered to us at 2145 after having reserved at 2030. Areas were closed off due to "functions" however there were no functions it was simply to avoid having to clean the area - it limited where one could sit and relax. There was flower remains all over the floor and staff were aware of this and didnt make an effort to clean it up. The restaurants were clearly closed as dinner was served outside and doors were barricaded with furniture as opposed to just being closed. Very disappointing overall.
Beautiful property
Noisy aircon in room and hard bed
The rooms, the lake, the staff, the Spa
I would have liked the log fires in the communal areas to be lit, its”s Winter, i wanted to play a board game in a cosy environment.
The Pass Restaurant was world class and Ben and his team made us feel very special. The spa was delightful and indulgent. The grounds are wonderful and the room, on the first floor in the original house section, was lovely. Virtually flawless
Bathroom did smell a bit 'drainy' but that's about it
Everything... from the minute we arrived we were treated like very special guests. The lodge was beautiful - the views sublime; the spa and facilities were beyond our expectation (though a little busy at times). The icing on the cake was the amazing tasting menu from Chef Ben and his team. Exceptional dining experience. The breakfast hamper is highly recommended as you can slouch in the comfy robes on the balcony overlooking the lake and watch the wild swimming tucking into the gorgeous local produce. Will definitely be back.
Couldn't fault anything; this is a real gem for a long weekend staycation. The lodges were really beautiful and had everything we needed.
I enjoyed the infinity pool very much - it is huge. I also thought the heated pool outside and the the natural pool were lovely. Staff very friendly and professional - I hope to return at some point.
Food of a good standard but didn’t like the walk across to the Botanical.
Obviously high end hotel. Staff very helpful and efficient. Room very good. Spa with swimming pools and gym absolutely fantastic.
Nothing
Very lovely period property sat in the heart of West Sussex. Very lovely to spend some time.
The reception staff
No turndown service, very young staff on duty at breakfast, very chaotic
