Character lovely setting and staff were helpful pleasant
All staff were helpful polite and friendly, the room was a good size and the bed very comfortable.
The housekeeping was very poor. Room was dirty, dusty lamps, skirtings, an inch of dirt around all the carpet edges, carpet un vacuumed, floor of wardrobe very dusty. Large hair in bath. General decor is very dated. Wouldn’t be a problem if it had been clean.
The lady at check in was excellent. We had a problem with our room (broken window latch) she found another room for us and sorted it all out. She was delightful.
The shouty waitress at breakfast who argued about the coffee. If you ask for instant it's because you want instant.
Breakfast advertised as starting at 8am but the croissants and other cooked items aren't ready until 8.45.
The guy on checkout who took my room cards and barely grunted. A "how was your stay?" Is always a nice touch.
Finally the bad drain smell first thing in the morning. It wasn't there during the night but the smell was overpowering while trying to use the shower.
When breakfast served by waiter there was only one what ever you choose given, and half a piece of black pudding. Then it changed to buffet style which was much better and quicker.
Swimming pool surround could do with revamp + mens changing rooms.
The location
The staff some were nice the lad serving breakfast was rude to my wife the food was not very good.
cosy restaurant in the oldest part of the hotel. The bedroom was warm and comfortable with soft lighting. Plenty of free parking, and the whole site was very quiet.
view from the bedroom window was blocked by a very large marquee.
very comfortable Bed, friendly Staff, Good Location.
Our 'standard' room was a very generous size with a good sized bathroom with a bath and shower over. The hotel is in a lovely rural setting, so no issues with noise. It was a very relaxing stay with a plentiful breakfast served by attentive staff. We liked the pool, jacuzzi and steam room which were very quiet late afternoon Saturday and Sunday morning.
It had snowed and the car park was like an ice rink, needed more salting and gritting.
