Pros:

We had a wonderful stay at Turim Santa Maria. The staff were exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help us plan our trips, accommodating every request with professionalism and care.

A special thank you to Catia, who kindly arranged for us to dine at the hotel after a long hike. The reception team also gave excellent recommendations for our mountain excursions and evening spa visits.

The breakfast was excellent, the hotel was impeccably clean, and its location was perfect, within easy walking distance of most attractions.

Thank you, Turim Santa Maria. We can't wait to return!

Pros:

We booked quite late (3 days in advance) and paid 600 euros for 3 nights with half board. It is a beautiful hotel and the food is good. The pool on the rooftop terrace is a very nice addition.

Cons:

Unfortunately, the Wi-Fi sometimes leaves something to be desired.

Okay value for money
Pros:

Rooms are nice, staff is friendly, location is great. Rooftop terrace and pool are fantastic.

Cons:

Internet in the room was poor to the point of being unusable. Breakfast very modest, more fitting of a hostel rather than a 4-star hotel.

Hotel with potential, but not there yet
Pros:

The hotel is on a good location within 15-20 minute walk from most areas we needed. The rooms (if you take separate beds) are spacious and comfortable. Beds are of good quality. Toiletries are basic, but sufficient. Breakfast has a good quantity of items.

Cons:

First negative experience was when we contacted the hotel via Booking to arrange a transfer from the airport. Although they confirmed the transport, none was waiting for us. We called the hotel and after 10 minutes they informed us that they forgot to make the reservation and offered to make a new taxi call, but that would pick us up after 15-20 minutes or we can call Uber. Funny thing is that Uber is not available in Madeira, but Bolt is (we didn't know that at that time). After additional 20 minutes lost, we managed to sort out the transfer ourselves from the airport. As an apology, we were offered a cheap bar drink. When we reached reception, only one person was at the desk and processing was really slow. Only one lady was before us and she was already half way through the process and it took another 10 minutes to finish with her. Rooms are good, but sound isolation towards the hallway is horrible. You can clearly hear people talking in the hallway, especially if they are a bit louder or with children. We do not mind the children, but we do mind poor sound isolation. Breakfast has limited variety which is common for Portugal, but we expected more for a 200€ per night hotel not in the peak of season. Breakfast chairs should be cleaned. We were first in the room (7 am when the breakfast starts) and 2/3 of the chairs on two tables we occupied as a group had crumbs all over them from previous meals. There are only two elevators for a hotel which has larger number of rooms and although the hotel was not at the full capacity we had periods of prolonged waiting. There were also other small things like shower clogged with limescale, gel pump not working, etc. We reported some of the issues and they were quickly resolved, but we expected more for the price. In our opinion, value - price ratio is rather poor.
