I really enjoyed my time at the horizon inn. I will definitely be staying here again in the future.
Pros:

The property is beautiful. It has that rare, authentic Carmel charm where you can feel the crisp coastal breeze from your patio, completely tucked away from the noise but still just a short, beautiful stroll from the heart of town.

Cons:

Parking can be a bit tricky.

Functional stay but good location although quite expensive
Pros:

Great location, very easy to walk to Ocean Drive and the beach. The fire pit area is nice and parking was handy too

Cons:

Stayed in room 111 and immediately noticed a very musty and unpleasant smell. The staff would not change our room - advising that the prior inhabitants had not complained about the smell - so we were offered a chemical neutraliser instead. We then had to move rooms for one night before moving back into that room as one of our party was pregnant and it wasn’t suitable for them to sleep in the room without adequate time to air out. Upon moving back to room 111 we noticed it is right next door to the house keeping office and can be very noisy.

Comfortable, accommodating and great location
Pros:

My adult son and I traveled the coast highway from Los Angeles to Carmel this past weekend. We previously stayed here in 2021. We were not disappointed in our return. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It is an easy walk to many excellent restaurants. A wonderful place to stay.

Altogether a comfortable and pleasant stay, enjoyed the outside patio in evening!
Pros:

Loved the afternoon wine and cheese happy hour

Cons:

I wasn’t fond of the breakfast basket delivered in the morning. I would rather have less items of high quality than more of “meh” quality. Use a local bakery in Carmel

Great location for exploring Carmel-by-the-Sea, spacious and cozy room, and very welcoming staff - we really enjoyed our
Pros:

Very close to the ocean ave and Carmel Plaza.
Hotel staff were helpful friendly and welcoming.
We loved the fireplace, the room was big, and the fact there is parking was helpful.

Cons:

We wish there were option to purchase drink / snacks, also we didn’t really like the breakfast baskets and the coffee.

Relaxing Carmel stay.
Pros:

Had a great stay at Horizon for 3 nights, our second stay. Pam and staff were welcoming and very helpful in planning our brief Carmel visit. Location within walking distance to shops, restaurants and shops. Accommodations were spacious and clean with Ocean view balcony and gas fireplace. Enjoyed a couple of hot tubs in peaceful courtyard with fire pit at night. Breakfast basket delivered to door every morning was healthy and delicious. Can't wait for our next visit!

Perfect Carmel Hotel for Couples
Pros:

Stayed for 2 nights in Room #115 (Jr Suite Ocean View) for a romantic getaway in Carmel. The hotel was perfect for us! The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean, noticeably quiet, and nicely appointed. The hotel style overall is a little older, but not so much as to call it "dated". The complimentary happy hour from 4-6pm each day was a nice touch, and we enjoyed our cheese and wine near the fire pit on the communal patio. The jacuzzi, which was a very short walk from our room, was well-maintained too. The bed was comfortable, although perhaps a bit soft for some people's preference. The pillows were plentiful and comfortable. We enjoyed our picnic basket breakfast (delivered right to our door each morning) on our balcony which offered lovely views of the coast and mountains. Parking was also easy at this location. The hotel was a nice stroll to Ocean Ave, and we enjoyed not having to drive or park when going to dinner or shopping. Great stay--wouldn't change a thing! Hope to come back some day!

Nice location- clean and quiet
