I am writing to express my disappointment with my recent stay at Hotel Casa Retreat. During my visit, a staff member demanded an additional $20, citing it as a "green tax." The following day, the same staff member returned, requesting an extra $8. I paid the initial $20, but I refused the second request, asking the staff member to coordinate with Expedia and send me an official email about the charge. He never returned, which raises concerns about the legitimacy of these charges.
It feels like I was unfairly charged, and I believe this is not the standard of service expected from your establishment. I kindly request a refund of the $20, as it appears to have been an unwarranted fee. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

Tv and internet not working a struggle no coffee or tea inside the room.defintely not suitable for elderly. full paid room once check-in oh need to pay government taxes only 5$..extra
Ok for a low budget stay
I've been staying here whenever I visit the city for last few months. It's cost efficient. Good staffs. Friendly receptionists. Might have little flaws in room and it's small but didn't matter. All good so far.
Bed was very uncomfortable , woke up with major back pain, was very basic. no coffee or tea but there was a kettle with no mugs so i guess it’s for noodles, room was ok then went for breakfast and got my coffee with food after it’s should be served before your food comes. was ok stay just need new bed man even my friend had major back pain was very uncomfortable. also we heard a lot of kitchen pots banging and people talking loudly whole day yesterday then we closed window in shower and it was much better. no body wash or conditioner for ladies. will not be back again.

A nice place to stay over for 1-2 nights. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Bathroom convenient to use, there is shower gel and shampoo (no soap though). Location is good, accessible. Takshi (staff) helpful and polite. Room is small, bur ok
Rooms are tiny, staff is very unprofessional! But it’s not the word - room smells horrible because of the restaurant downstairs. Staff showed me two more rooms apart from the one I have booked - same issue with the smell (smth like burnt oil). I refused to stay and requested for at least 50% refund, as the have blocked the room for me. However nothing was refunded. Besides I have called owner that promised to call back in two minutes, he was on another call. But he never got back to me, and apparently blocked my number. Please don’t waste your time and money there are many more other options that are better for the same price!

Nachdem, das Zimmer gereinigt wurde! Wahr dieses Andenken von den Malediven nicht mehr da! Alles sehr seltsam! Sehr enttäuschend! Vorallem nicht vertrauenswürdig! Sonst wahr das Personal sehr freundlich!
not a nice place, cockroaches kept crawling out from the bathroom and cupboards. room was run down. breakfast was terrible. would not recommend this place for the price paid. should be around £20 per night. forget the breakfast option you could probably get some elsewhere.
Property was fine for an overbite before heading to one of the smaller islands. When I arrived in Male I couldn't get any cash out of ATMs so the girl at the front desk was kind enough to pay for my cab and them charge my cc. Room was nice, but small with no window. Sometimes it took a few minutes for them to answer the front door. Desk clerks were friendly and helpful. Free breakfast at the restaurant next door was rice and a little fruit.
Staff behavior is good, but room size are very small compare yo what they promised in itinerary
When booked online room area is about 1246 soft where 2 people can stay with very comfortable.
But in reality it's not even 120 Sqft.
Really disappointed in this and the breakfast is just basic.
Location is very good
I stayed this hotel recently. The service was accepted even though rooms aren’t that clean.
However, thinking to say there second time cus i missed my flight i got served unprofessionalism!!
I tried to book the hotel from the booking.com cus i got a nice offer with good discount.
Just in case for any inconvenience for my booking i called the hotel and made sure if the room is available.
As per the guy at reception who talked to me on August 3rd at 22:30 room was available and the price he can give me for direct booking was bit high for me. So I went through Booking.com cus i got a cheaper price.
I was mentioned that from Booking.com the confirmation has to confirm by the hotel so Booking.com can proceed the reservation. However, my booking got declined from hotel as it’s mentioned in my mail.
And when i called to the hotel the guy was passive aggressive as if he knows everything. Said they don’t have to be responsible and he can confirm bookings like this whoever he wants. Not whoever i want. He don’t have to responsible for my loss. This person at reception is such an embarrassment for other staffs and for the Hotel. Very disgusting behavior.
We pay for the service not for the unprofessionalism.
So if anyone booking this hotel. Please don’t waste your time. Hulhumale does have many hotels better than this hotel.

It’s better to sleep in a clean room rather than sleeping on someone else’s hairs.
It is a great place to stay in Male: the staff are the friendliest peole you are ever going yo meet, the rooms clean and nice, it is at a walking distance to the beach, and location is not far from the airport.
Nice place to stay with in our Budget, Near to all shops and malls back sea view awesome Its walkable distance from hotel.
Terrible experience. We booked this stay via Expedia. The room was crammed with furniture including two beds in a tiny room and barely any place to walk (my husband kept hitting his toes on the furniture). The deal breaker was that the room was right next to the reception with 0 noise insulation. Constant noise from phone calls/reception staff conversations, and clanging of utensils from the kitchen downstairs. The hotel itself isn’t much - more of a small building converted to almost a hostel like setup (for example the room next door was crammed with bunk beds). This despite the Expedia booking mentioning a much larger and sound proof room!
The hotel manager (a lady from the Philippines) was smug and unaffected when we shared this feedback and said there is no other room. We ended up checking out without spending the night and staying at another establishment. The money was all wasted.
This place may be low cost but it’s a waste; you can get much better value by paying the same/bit more at another hotel (in fact there are many much nicer hotels in the area with beach view vs this place with neither view nor service nor basics of a comfortable stay).
It was ok.
Property not good and not as described. Super super small room (not the size mentioned in listing), and was crammed with not only a double bed but another third bed which left no room to even walk. The hotel refused to remove that extra bed or change room. My husband kept accidentally hurting his foot on the bed post as the room was just too snug and filled to the brim with furniture.
What made things worse is room was right next to reception desk on 1st floor and was super noisy. Not soundproof as described in listing. We could hear all conversations on the reception and also the cooking noises from the kitchen located there. Also, vice versa with no privacy as our conversations would be easily heard outside through thin walls.
Finally, this hotel is more a hostel with lots of rooms with bunk beds. Not necessarily a family friendly place.
There are a bunch of better hotels in the area for same or a bit more money.
We checked out in a few hours without even spending the night and went to another hotel. May also consider booking independently/directly as a walk-in as it may be less expensive and we had no support from Expedia on this.
