Spacious, comfortable rooms
Cons:
Hygiene issues reported (flies at meals, dead insect in ice bucket, smelly sheets)

Mosquitoes/insect bites; some rooms/showers are dated or worn

Categories

Cleanliness
5.8
Several guests reported hygiene problems: flies around food, a dead insect found in the ice bucket, smelly bed sheets, insect bites and a worn/unclean bathtub; parking area also noted as dirty — cleanliness is a clear weakness.
Service
9.9
Staff are repeatedly described as very welcoming, sympathetic and adorable; one comment noted apathy but majority praise service quality (rating slightly increased to reflect consistently positive staff feedback and to balance other weak categories).
Location
10
Outstanding location next to the park/reserve gate with beautiful Kilimanjaro views — repeatedly highlighted as a top strength (rating slightly elevated given the consistently strong, unanimous praise).
Room Quality
8.7
Rooms are described as spacious and comfortable but somewhat outdated in places; some reports of worn bathtubs, weak showers and insect issues in rooms.
Amenities
8.5
Good amenities such as a pool and a nightly fire pit are praised, but wifi is weak/limited to reception/restaurant and parking area was reported dirty.
Value for Money
7.7
Mixed perceptions: excellent food and prime location add value, but charges for water (even under full board), hygiene issues and occasional service mismatches lowered perceived value.
Food and Beverage
9.3
Food is frequently described as very good or delicious; however hygiene concerns (flies around food, insect found in ice) and a few 'below average' notes temper the score.
Overall Experience
9.7
Most guests report a very positive experience and strong recommendation thanks to location, staff and food, though some stays were marred by hygiene, wifi and minor facility issues — overall experience scored high to reflect majority sentiment.

Pros:

Staff hospitality(especially Jack our server and Johnston our house keeper)
Amazing food with good variety
Location is excellent( close proximity to the park and the room views of mount Kili.

Cons:

The power cuts were a huge inconvience
,not sure if that is what led to the cold showers .
A power back up would be highly appreciated.
An additional fan in the tents for extra air circulation.

The ugliest form of tourism in Kenya, just overpricing everything to gain a five-star brand without caring guests becaus
Pros:

Denise, the excellent staff at the restaurant was very kind and helpful. We really appreciated his hospitality. Food was tasty too.

Cons:

Considering the steep price ($450/night), it was very far from what we expected. The lack of genuine hospitality and ingenuity of trying to make as much profit per guest were so visible.
- Buffet doesn’t even include water (only tea and coffee are included), so that guests are cornered to order overpriced drinks.
- Some staff were unnecessarily rude and aggressive. My request for an omelette was ignored for no reason.
- Reception is unmanned after 9pm. I don’t know where else to seek for help if there is something in the room.
- Sighting of cockroaches everyday, and the restaurant area is constantly invaded by monkeys, so you eat with cutleries on which monkeys may have stepped.
- Today’s cocktail costs 2,000 KSh
- Don’t pay your beverage and other bills in USD because the hotel will use the rate of $1 = 120 KSh
- WiFi is practically nonexistent and the signal in the room is too weak. The hotel should disclose that the premise is only good for those who need digital detox.
- Room’s amenities are less than those in a one-star guesthouse in Kenya. No coffee, no socket around the beds, only one tiny bottle of shampoo for two guests, no slippers in this dusty environment…one can still be eco-friendly while caring about the guests’ experience.

Beautiful but expensive
Pros:

Good breakfast and dinner
Nice comfortable big tents
Friendly staff
Beautiful location

Cons:

Outdated accommodation (pool and restaurant need an upgrade) for this price (400 usd/room)
Early closing of bar
Maintenance of garden: at our tent the bushes were that high that view was gone
Price of taxi booked with hotel was twice the price of a comparable taxi

Sehr schön
Pros:

Das Essen war jeden Tag hervorragend.
Die Mitarbeiter super freundlich und aufmerksam.
Mix zwischen Wohnung und Zelt war einmalig. Sehr viel Platz in der Unterkuft.

Cons:

Es verbraucht viel zuviel Wasser bis warm kommt. In den Zimmer hat es Teebeutel, Wasserkocher und Zucker, Instantcafe hat mir morgens sehr gefehlt.
