This is my third time staying at Sky Gem Central, and they maintain their high standards beautifully. The rooms are just as clean and fresh as my first visit, and the staff remembered my preference for a quiet room away from the lift. It truly feels like a home away from home on Dong Du street.
The slippers provided in the room are the standard single-use disposable type, which can be a bit flimsy. I usually just bring my own pair now, so it doesn't impact my stay at all.
Great location amazing staff
Renovation next door and pool closed whole time we stay
If you love food, stay here. You are steps away from high-end French dining, authentic Vietnamese pho, Japanese hidden gems, and great street food. The hotel's own breakfast buffet was a great start to the day, featuring a rotating menu of local noodle dishes that tasted very authentic.
The pastry selection at breakfast was a bit limited mostly just toast and croissants. I would have loved to see a few more local sweet treats or pastries on offer.
You can literally walk to Union Square, Vincom Center, and Saigon Centre within minutes. It was so convenient to drop our shopping bags off at the hotel room and head right back out for more. The bellhops were great, always smiling and helping lift our heavy bags. Rooms are clean and aircon is strong.
The lobby area is relatively intimate. If a large group is checking out at the same time, it can feel a bit crowded for a few minutes, but the staff move everyone through very quickly.
Staff were friendly and welcoming
Helped out with booking tours
Great facilities
There is a 7/11 next door to the hotel for some midnight snacks
I booked this hotel to enjoy the pool however was under maintenance during our stay which was unfortunate and I wish they had notified us of this prior to our stay
There was also construction next to our hotel but you could not hear it throughout the night
I love hotels with character, and Sky Gem Central feels very charming. The color palette in the room is soothing, and the decorative details give it a nice local touch. The bedding felt very luxurious for this price point, and the bathroom tile work was beautiful and clean.
The drainage in the shower stall was a bit slow on my first night. I mentioned it to the front desk the next morning, and they cleared it up immediately while I was out.
As someone who works on the go, internet reliability is everything. The Wi-Fi here didn't drop once, and the speeds were impressive. The room desk was comfortable enough for a few hours of typing. Whenever I needed a break, I just walked out to one of the dozens of specialty coffee shops on Dong Du.
The power outlet near the bed in my room was a little loose, so my heavier laptop charger kept slipping out easily. In the end, I plugged it directly into the wall outlet near the desk area, and it worked perfectly.
I was only in the city for 18 hours before a flight. The location allowed me to maximize my time I walked out, saw the major sights, had a fantastic dinner, and walked back. Getting a Grab car from Dong Du street is incredibly easy because it's a major thoroughfare. The bed was super comfy for a quick recharge.
The water pressure in the bathroom sink was a little lower than expected, though the actual shower pressure was fantastic, so it wasn't a major issue.
My husband and I had a lovely stay. The staff deserve a special mention they were incredibly respectful, always helping us with our bags and guiding us safely to our transport. The bathroom was very clean with proper safety mats, and the breakfast options were easy to digest and delicious.
There is a very small step at the main entrance of the hotel. The security guards are always there to help, but it's just something to watch out for if you have minor mobility issues.
I needed a quiet place to rest between a tight schedule of meetings. My room was located toward the back of the building and was surprisingly peaceful despite being in the center of town. The bed was firm and comfortable, the bathroom was pristine, and the morning buffet had a good espresso machine.
The wardrobe space was a bit limited. It's perfectly fine for a short 2-or 3-night stay, but might feel a little tight if you are staying for a couple of weeks with a lot of suits.
If you want to be where the action is, this is it. We walked to jazz clubs, craft beer pubs, and late-night noodle spots all within a 5-minute radius. The room itself was very stylish and clean, and the air conditioning was ice-cold perfect after a night out dancing
Because the hotel is in such a central, buzzing area, you can hear a faint hum of city traffic from the street-facing rooms. It didn't keep us awake, but light sleepers might want to bring earplugs
Returning to Saigon after many years, I wanted a place that felt nostalgic yet modern. Sky Gem Central nailed it. The location is deeply connected to old Saigon, yet the room amenities like the rainfall shower and smart TV were completely up to date. The receptionists spoke excellent English and were incredibly polite
The lighting in the room is designed to be warm and atmospheric, which is great for relaxing, but it felt a little too dim when I was trying to read a book at night.
I booked a night here just to change scenery and unwind. The customer service was top-notch from the moment I stepped in. The room had a warm, inviting ambiance, and the mattress was exceptionally plush. I spent the afternoon wandering the beautiful alleys nearby and treating myself to great food
The hotel enforces a strict 2:00 PM check-in time. I arrived around 1:30 PM and my room wasn't quite ready, but they let me store my bags and grabbed me a glass of refreshing welcome tea while I waited.
The check-in and check-out process was extremely quick and efficient, which I really appreciated. The Wi-Fi was stable and fast enough for work video calls, and the room also had a decent workspace setup. The central location on Dong Du Street made it very convenient for me to walk to nearby offices and business areas. Housekeeping also did a great job keeping the room clean and replenishing bottled water daily
There was no iron in the room. I had to contact the front desk to ask about it, and they informed me that laundry service was available but with an additional charge.
We loved the vibe of this neighborhood! There are so many cute boutique cafes and spa places right on Dong Du and Dong Khoi streets. The hotel rooms were very clean, the bathrooms were modern with great hot water pressure, and the price was incredibly reasonable for being right in the center of luxury District 1.
The mini-fridge in the room is quite compact. We bought some fresh tropical fruits and drinks, and it was a bit of a tight squeeze to fit everything inside.
