Lovely rooms, fantastic location, comfy beds
One of the receptionists was very unapproachable, she gave off didn’t want to be there vibes. Ants all over the breakfast buffet. The plug sockets by the headboard didn’t work.
The location is fantastic: you cannot get more central in Bath, although getting to the hotel to drop off luggage through the melee of coaches on a Saturday afternoon was a minor challenge.
The staff are excellent: well trained, cheerful and obliging.
Our room was rather smaller than I had anticipated, but well appointed. However, space can often be an issue in historic buildings.
Where to begin... I had booked a hotel for 2 nights with my 1 year old and dog, last minute due to the hot weather and arrived with a fabulous warm welcome from Florine and James. Florine helped with my booking, I asked for a bigger room and he was able to upgrade due to availability, along with a complimentary drink and a lovely bars of Abbey Hotel chocolate. Florine offered for me to see the room first before upgrading which was even better! This was a great start and put a smile on my face. I then dropped the bags off and had a Beef burger and fed my 1 year old in the resturante bar, the beef burger was tasty and it came with plenty of chips and onion rings!
The next morning, I was greeted by a lovely smiley lady Sally, she was SO NICE AND A GREAT asset to the company, she was very friendly and greeted my son and I with open and warm arms, I had also seen her in the afternoon, when I got a drink from the bar, once again she was her perky lovely self (considering the awful hot weather we had)
That evening, I had a Carbonara.. thwasn'tsnt to my taste and had to send it back.. the waitress was happy to give me something else! I ordered a chicken Burger this time, with no chips. This burger was very tasty and not greasy at all!
The bedroom i had was a surperiour with a courtyard! The air-conditioning worked WONDERS. however a little noisy, whichdidn'tdnt mind considering it was better than home.. however, Florine got right onmaintenencence to help with the TV and the air conditioning and within 5 mins two gentlemen arrived ! Wahoo.Overallral, what a smashing team you have at the Abbey Hotel, I was very happy and I will stay again (even if I live up the road)!!!! Definitely will recommend friends and family!Thankypuyou so much for a pleasant day (more than pleasent) have a glass of champs and get that pay rise!!!!! Xx wonderfully xx
The Carbonara
Very good hotel
Very central location in Bath, a few minutes walk to Bath Abbey and the Roman Baths, and Pulteney Bridge. The room and bed was comfortable, has an elevator which is convenient. Loading bay outside the hotel allows bags to be unloaded for check-in (nearest car park is a 5-6 min walk)
Being a little picky here (having stayed at the Hotel Indigo in Bath on a previous visit which has beautifully decorated rooms), but the decor in our room (#107) looked a little dated (grey and browns) and could do with being brightened up.
Staff welcoming & helpful, room & hotel facilities excellent. Very happy to return in the future.
Location
Empty and no atmosphere. Impersonal
Great location, helpful and friendly staff, good breakfast, comfortable bed, nice bar. I liked that my room was cleaned quite early each day.
The room was smaller than expected and there was no desk space at all - there would have been room for a small desk. The lighting in the corridors was dim.
Fabulous location, beautiful interior, very large room, huge bathroom!
Clean and friendly. Good service. Good air con.
Breakfast tables situated very close to other occupants. Unable to hug ave a private conversation without neighbouring table overhearing.
I made a group booking and some of the rooms were really lovely and the location was perfect! Would recommend this hotel for the location. The hotel also kept our luggage on check in and check out which was great.
I think this hotel could be amazing but we had quite a few concerns. The overall cleanliness wasn't great! The toilets in the lobby were really grubby, the rooms weren't properly cleaned (lots of dust). The cleaners also made the bed over our belongings rather than moving anything so we couldn't find our stuff when we got back to the rooms.
We had one room in building 5. This was pretty awful. There was no lift access so we had to carry very heavy cases up several flights of stairs. We were told on departure we could have had help but this wasn't offered when we checked in. One of the blinds also didn't work so we had very little daylight and none of the windows opened at all so it was stuffy....overall it was a very claustrophobic room.
The bar... This was probably the worst of the hotel. Although it appears nice the staff on the inside bar were very poor. We were ignored when we asked for drinks, one member of staff was unable to open a bottle of wine, they weren't providing bills after we had drinks and one member was particularly rude and seemed really put out that we had even come there for drinks. This is a shame as we had planned to spend a bit of time there during our stay but we decided against it due to this.
I think the hotel could be fantastic but it was let down by the basics. And don't put people with big cases in building 5 🤦🏻♀️
lovely hotel central location
no parking
Veldig sentralt hotell. Nære jernbane og sentrum. Hyggelig betjening, og god frokost. Vil gjerne benytte hotellet igjen om jeg skal besøke Bath igjen.
Intet å utsette på dette hotellet !
The staff were amazing, so good, nothing was too much trouble.
Room was excellent, clean and bed very comfortable.
Parking shouldn’t be an issue, you are allowed 20 mins dropping off, but Watch out for the security guys who have NO authority to issue you tickets but roam around outside, then Phone their colleagues (parking wardens) to warn him to get round quick because you are parked outside the three marked areas (because a delivery lorry was parked over all spaces) it’s NOT a good look and isn’t a great endorsement for all the city has to offer. Poor!!
