Vidamar Resort Madeira

The property as well as the team was amazing!

The property was clean, convenient location walkable to funchal main areas, view from room was 6* if you want an ocean view you wont beat it. Bed was comfortable and housekeeping were great.
Cons: it is very plain and sterile. There is not personality or atmosphere. It does not feel like 5*Luxury, other than view I would rate it more of a 2.5 star. The food was okay, buffet didnt really have much change so it became very repetitive after a while and we ended up spending money to eat out.
The grill restaurant was awesome.

Very nice resort. Clean and big rooms. Breakfast and dinner buffet with a lot variety of food. During our stay was my wife birthday and the management of the resort surprise us with a cake and a bottle of sparkling wine. The resort is in good central location. Thank you so much Vidamar Resort for making us felling at home.

A fabulous location with seafront rooms , pros are the views, standard of rooms (large and well appointed ) , location's convenience, helpful staff but as many have said out-weighted by the cons. Huge sprawling hotel more like a conference centre with a sterile atmosphere , very little entertainment in the evening, and at £1700 for a week I would have expected free parking and half board / all inclusive which we didnt get. Food was very average, and dining staff willing but disorganised we tried the buffet and Italian restaurant and concluded better value was to be had out in the town. Would not return, poor value.

Lovely hotel , just a bit tired in areas.

This was our third visit to this hotel, but the first for 13 years. As ever the staff and food offerings were excellent, but there were signs of ageing of the property and it needs some updating in some areas.
But overall an excellent holiday in a good location but you do need to allow time and patience if using the local buses into Funchel.

Everyone was very helpful and made everything go effortless. The food choices were delicious. I can’t say enough about how well things went for us. Thank you.

I enjoyed staying in Vida Mar Madeira

It’s a wonderful place to stay. Staff are awesome and super helpful. Wonderful views, from the rooms to the surroundings. Definitely worth staying and visiting.

Great food at buffett

Amazing!! The dine option was nice but the food was typical buffet (not five star). Great location, fantastic views and sea access, lots of beach chairs and terrific pools!

Wonderful hotel. Great service

Clean, modern, excellent buffet, very good staff. Well located for bus tours and other facilities. Near tourist information office. Good dining options. Hotel facilities are first class.
Downside was that we had to buy our own decaf teabags from the local supermarket as they don’t do decaf tea but do decaf coffee.

Beautiful location and room - stellar ocean view. Room was clean and quiet. Balcony was fabulous.
Very responsive and nice staff. Breakfast was very good, and dinner dining was above average. Spa services were very good. Great place to chill - since it is so peaceful and tranquil.

Big hotel. Big rooms. Great pools. Modern, with conference style feel. Remarkable buffet, no need to go up the road and pay extra. Chocolate fountain on two nights. No decaff tea - go next door to the cliff after dinner for that. VidaMar suited us as a great base (we didn’t rent a car), we used bus or booked trips. The ‘west’ jeep discovery tour is a must. Plus all the other go-to places. Walk to Camera de Lobos and get the bus back. Madeira exceeded our expectations.

Special mention to Juan in the main restaurant please. At dinner there was not one desert from at least 20 that was dairy free. When I asked Juan said no problem and he went and made one in 5 minutes. Amazing and unexpected

I loved staying here with my partner, I would love to repeat it

We have stayed at this hotel many times before and the reasons for returning are:
- the amazing views from the rooms (floors 5 -10) out over the Atlantic - every room has sun and sea views all day
- the spa built into the cliff side with incredible ocean views and wonderful relaxation areas as well as the hydro pool
- the sea platform which has a choice of pools and is a sheltered suntrap all day long (we were there in December).

I recently stayed at this resort and I must say, it was a beautiful experience. The resort was stunning and the pool was absolutely amazing. I spent most of my time lounging by the pool and enjoying the serene atmosphere. The only downside was the taste of food which was okay. However, overall, I had a great time and would definitely recommend this resort to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway.

Lovely 2 night half board stay here. Very clean, staff helpful, 3 pools especially nice, with steps down to safe sea swimming. Food, gym & spa all very good, beautiful sea view from balcony. Only negative was the pillows on bed were hard .
