I love this location
Pros:

I love this location! I do stay here multiple times a year for good reasons. The location can’t be beat…walking distance to downtown …multiple great restaurants. If you want to visit the wineries there is a hop on hop off bus that will pick you up right across the street at the draftsman. The parking garage is easy as can be and the rooms are always clean

Excellent Location, but Comfort Issues in the Room
Pros:

I spent three nights at the Courtyard Marriott downtown and had a mixed experience. Even though my profile requests a high‑floor room, I was placed on the first floor, and the hotel didn’t seem anywhere near full. The room was also an ADA setup, which meant a very low bed and a roll‑in shower—neither ideal for a family stay.

The biggest problem was the climate control. The room was constantly either too warm and humid or too cold, and it always felt damp no matter how I adjusted the thermostat.

The location and parking garage access are fantastic, and those alone might bring me back. But the room assignment and comfort issues definitely took away from the stay.

It was very clean. The staff was very nice to us and very considerate of our stay
Pros:

It was really close to the hospital and it was very convenient for us to be close to our son. The guy that checked us in he waved the parking fee for us

Pros:

Only the locatioy

Cons:

During our three day stay the room was never cleaned. There was no complimentary coffee or breakfast in the morning. The food we did buy was expensive and disappointing. The front desk clerk had a negative attitude. Not friendly at all. I will never stay there again.

Overall, the positives way outweighed the negatives.
Pros:

I decided to try this hotel instead of the Graduate. The rooms just look and feel more modern and bigger. The rooms are less expensive than the Graduate and onsite parking is cheaper and easier too. Both hotels are within striking distance of where my daughter lives. Also, this hotel was quieter....not so much going on in the lobby as the Graduate. Will def stay here from here on out when visiting my daughter in college.

Cons:

My key card didn't work after I had used it once. I had my cooler with me and didn't want to leave it by my door while going to fix the key issue. So I had to lug a 30-40 pound cooler downstairs as I went to settle the issue. Also, I had to take my cooler down to the first floor for ice since the ice machine on the 4th floor didn't work.

Dated, unfriendly staff, lousy setting
Pros:

The hotel is a bit dated, the worst of which is the room key cards. They continually “demagnetize” and stop working. I remember this problem 20 years ago, I guess they haven’t had a tech update since then. They warn you but who remembers not to put it in the same pockets as your cell phone.

The room heaters are weird. They turn on and blast cold air at you which eventually heats up, does this every time they turn on.

The tvs are tiny and not up to today’s standards. The courtyards don’t have included breakfast and the service is generally slow. The hotel is in an unfortunate location. Lots of the rooms face into the parking garage, alleys, other buildings, etc…

I’m a platinum member and they stuck me on the first floor looking out onto an alley and the HVAC equipment for the hotel. The staff isn’t nice, professional, but not nice.

It’s expensive for what it is. There are better options in Charlottesville.

Surprisingly nice room close to the university
Pros:

The room was really nice! Big comfy bed and nice couch for watching some TV in the evening. Location was perfect for someone visiting the university for work. Some of the staff were very friendly. Gym was great! And I availed of the pay per use laundry facilities, which were really useful for me and handy to have on site.

Cons:

No free coffee in the lobby, or water fountain (there was a thing for drinking water but you couldn't fill up a water bottle there), which is a first for me in an American hotel.

A Gem and a Go To For a Charlottesville Stay~
Pros:

This Courtyard is an amazing location; it is close to many restaurants, the amazing needlepoint shop Poppypoint and so many facets of UVA. The staff could not be more kind, gracious and focused on ensuring that you have a positive experience. From the time that my friend and I checked in and helped by Ricara -- to our breaksfast's that Casey ensured were cooked to perfections and my coffee prepared just as I like it by both he and Shayla; to front desk folks Charlie and Chris; and Charlie helping out in the Bistro during the evening. It is a warm and wonderful place where guests come first; housekeeping pays attention to making sure the rooms are clean and well maintained. The facility is quiet so we were able to rest and felt that it was money well spent. As we will be coming and going from Charlottesville -- this will be our go to hotel.

Booked and didint stay because reservation wasn’t found
Pros:

The staff was very nice

Cons:

I booked and fully paid for my stay since May 16th.
Got at the hotel and they couldn’t find my reservation, and they were all booked. The staff was nice and tried to help me to find other hotel since I had a ticked to a concert.
I drove 4 hours and it was very unpleasant the fact that I paid for a hotel room and I never got the chance to use it. And the next morning I received a receipt from the hotel with my supposed check in/check out time and the pricing I paid.
Will definitely fight for my $400 back since I paid and didn’t had the room.

Great location, staff could have been friendlier.
Pros:

Convenient location to the hospital. Clean room and comfortable bed.

Cons:

We paid extra for the breakfast, they did not honor it. Staff was dismissive about it and basically said it wasn’t their problem. Only one of the staff that we encountered was approachable.

Elevators not working correctly, HVAC not working, no reg coffee in room, no extra blanket, not able to ocheck out
Pros:

Location is great, but the experience is not. One elevator not running and the other one stopped on incorrect floors, leading to confusion and even more elevator delays. (of note, no elevator certificate is present in the elevator). HVAC in our room did not work property. Apparently, thermostat on wall did not work as no response to temp change or fan change. Fan ran continuously with cold area Ultimately, in the middle of the night, we turned the power off rather than having cold air. No extra blankets in room, in spite of it being a room with a sofa bed. (Most hotel rooms with that have extra linens, not at Mariott Courtyard, I guess). Coffee left in room only decaf and not discovered until next morning.

Checkout the next morning: When I told the clerk our challenges and suggested clerk notify management-nothing was said. Not, yes I will do that; and no apology. Ultimately, also although unknown at the beginning of check out; clerk could not complete my in person checkout because their computer systems were down.

I can't recommend this hotel.
