The location was very close to downtown and the freeways making it very accessible
First room - the ac didn’t work. In both rooms, the height of the shower was barely 7 ft, as someone who is 6’6” this was not enjoyable. There was one morning when the entire bistro was shut down to be cleaned and no breakfast was available. There was another evening where the bartender didn’t show up and so the bistro was closed.
Having to pay for parking is absolutely terrible.
The first room we got wasn’t even cleaned. The second room we got the air conditioner hardly work. It was unbearably hot. The halls were t vacuumed ever. I would like it if I was refunded for my stay.
The location was great, I was able to walk to everything I wanted to see. The bed was super comfortable.
The elevator was broken, so I had to wait on an employee to take me up from the lobby. The bathroom was a bit outdated and a bit musty.
Incomprehensible how screwed up the reservation and the front desk were. Couldn’t get in or out of the parking area I paid $34 to use. Still waiting to see if they can fix charging me when the reservation was using points.
Location and ease of early check in.
Dirty, I saw a bug on my luggage.
To start with I’m a Marriott rewards member and used points to reserve a room with a king bed. After a long drive and checking in, we got to our room to find a queen bed. So I went back down downstairs to the desk and noted that we had requested a king bed. They switched the room, but no apology, no acknowledgment of a mistake. The room itself is fine but the toilet paper holder is coming out of the wall in the bathroom. But the worst part - and my regret from not reading other reviews - is the road noise. Drivers in Providence either a) don’t have a muffler b) rev their engines at every light or c) both. Worst night of sleep in a long time.
I stayed here for a conference at the Rhode Island Convention Center, which is just a block away. I also stayed here last year, and the experience was nominally better, mainly because (hopefully my Gold status with Marriott Bonvoy had something to do with it) I was given a room on the 6th floor in an even-numbered room, and last year I was given a room on the 2nd floor in one of the noisy odd-numbered rooms which face a busy street. The staff were also friendlier and more polite than last year. It was disappointing that there were no working electrical outlets near the bed, so I had to use an extension cord to connect my CPAP, and had to charge my iPhone on the table. There was a broken outlet attached to one of the bed lamps, which wouldn't hold the plug. I reported it, and it wasn't repaired during the 4-night stay, so points off for that.
Also, I noted that my room wasn't serviced after the first night, so I asked what the policy was regarding housekeeping, since it was neither mentioned during the booking process (Marriott Bonvoy's own site), nor at check-in, nor was there a little cardboard sign describing the policy in the room. I was told it was every other day. I asked again on the 2nd morning, to make sure it would be done that day, since I'd left the towels on the floor, but I returned from the conference to find the room had not, in fact, been done. I was given some towels. though. They did service the room after the 3rd night, though. Internet WiFi could be spotty. Hallway noise could be problematic (I was two doors down from the elevators, and the loud ding could easily be heard, so I had to wear earplugs).
I wavered between rating this 3 and 4 dots, but this stay was better than last year's, when I gave them 3 dots, so I went with 4 dots. It's definitely a different experience depending on which side of the hotel one's room is.
Location
Expensive parking
Very convenient location in town.
The hotel is located right in the middle of town. Our room was on the 7th floor, near the road. Unfortunately, the building isn’t soundproof, so it was quite noisy at night — we could clearly hear traffic and loud motorcycle horns, which was really annoying and made it difficult to sleep.
Also, the bathtub was blocked, so water kept flooding when we took a shower. 🙁
The pillows were very soft and lacked support, the quality was poor. Overall, the hotel felt overpriced for what it offered.
The staff was very nice and the food was good. The room was clean, but the bathroom safety rail has rust stains on it and the tub had stains.
SO LOUD!!!! If you stay here, ask for an even number room because we were in an odd number room and the sirens, people screaming, train, and drag racing were in full force until 2:30 am. For $400, it was not a good night's sleep. (I believe the rate increased because it was parent's weekend at Brown. We were not there for that.)
Location, it was a nice sized modern room.
Lack of easily accessible parking. Issues with the barrier / parking payment system. Staff were friendly and helpful but the parking system had problems so we needed to use the button each time we wanted to leave or enter.
Hot shower. Location.
- Bath mat was wet when we got in the room.
- AC wouldn't shut off the room was cold all night 68°. The thermostat in the wall was inoperable. The controls on the climate unit only allowed for continuous fan shut off. But ran periodically all night.
- The toilet was partially clogged.
- The night person didn't give hours for breakfast, which was paid for, and subsequently missed. 1 cup of hot tea was provided for compensation.
- No outdoor parking available. Garage parking was recommended.
- Problem with extra charges for leaving already paid for indoor garage parking. $34 + $17.** additional to exit parking structure.
As a patron of over 3 decades, I was quite surprised at motel service from this brand.
Room was at the corner of Memorial Blvd and Route 1, right off 95 exit ramp. It was very loud throughout the night (not hotel fault). Carpets, furniture in rooms feel very dated. Cannot beat location- centrally located to everything, including the new restaurants in Union Station. It was actually refreshing and convenient to *not* have valet.
This hotel is located near everything in the heart of the city. Every location was walkable and located near the train station. The staff and the facilities are fantastic. We very much enjoyed our stay and I would highly recommend.
