The man who checked me in was working hard to get things organized in the office. I did not find an ice bucket or cups in my room to get ice. Upon leaving two girls working behind the desk spent 2 hours talking to each other and not anything to clean or organize at the hotel let alone make the gas feel warm and welcome. They just talked and they would never be on my payroll to represent the hotel. Upon traveling for seven nights this was the most expensive hotel with the worst staff except for the man that checked me in.
Everything was very clean.
Very clean and well maintained
Was easy commute to my family
That hot tub closed early
I was happy with the location: 10 minutes away from the fair grounds. The hotel sits on a ridge and the views are pretty.
I chose the hotel because of the pool and hot tub, wanting a relaxing stay after attending an event at the fairgrounds. However, In the afternoon, I found that the hot tub was broken, and the pool was yellow colored- dirty looking. After my evening event, I came back at 10:30. I used the toilet (peed) and the toilet backed up. I tried to call the desk, and the phone was missing its cord! I went down for help, and the desk person was helpful, maintenance came up and fixed the toilet. The desk clerk was pleasant, but he denied there were any previous reports of problems with the toilet, like I had something to do with the clog. I just peed! Toilets don't overflow from that! Instead of apologizing for the inconvenience he was accusatory. I was tired and looking forward to a nice sleep, but the bed was hard- it felt like I was sleeping on a box spring! Most hotels have a nice mattress pad or topper at least. There was a communicating door and the people in the next room played cartoons past 11:00pm. (Why did I get a room with a communicating door?!) This morning, I found the lamp at the desk did not work. The people next door were knocking on wood or hammering on the counter. The shower had poor pressure. I have traveled a lot- mostly for business and have never stayed at such a depreciated property. I paid close to $200 for the room! For this cost I would expect a better experience. When I checked out this morning and explained the issues, the desk clerk had no apology and showed no emotion around my concerns. Anyway, I was looking forward to a nice hotel stay, pampering myself after a long hot day outside, and the experience was anything but pleasant. This morning I didn't find the coffee or the breakfast - I gave up and left.
