Anyone wishing to experience wonderful views of the rain forest, a very nice infinity pool and wonderful staff, look no further than the Alila Ubud Hotel 😊
I stayed for one night and had a wonderful experience. The room is very unique, inspired by traditional Balinese architecture. Although the design has a classic and slightly old touch, it is well maintained and still looks beautiful and charming.
The view overlooking the valley and river is absolutely stunning. Waking up to the sounds of birds and even monkeys in the early morning made the experience feel very close to nature and truly special.
The breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented. I was very impressed with the hospitality at the restaurant — the staff were attentive, friendly, and always ready to assist.
Alila Ubud is located a bit far from the central area of Ubud, but it is definitely worth it for those who are looking for peace and relaxation during their visit to Bali.
Overall, it was a memorable stay, and I would highly recommend it for anyone seeking a tranquil escape surrounded by nature.
Thanks Alila Ubud for my birthday trip
The service was excellent by all staff, especially restaurant, the breakfast was excellent.
Everything is exceeding expectations.
The outstanding feature of this beautiful hotel is the staff. Many have been there for years or even decades showing that its a great place to work. This comes across in their attitude and cheerful approach.
The location of this beautiful hotel is stunning. We stayed in a villa and the views each morning were spectacular.
The villa was extremely clean and room service was exceptional with towels and water replaced each day plus each night the mosquito net was put down around the bed and curtains drawn.
The staff were very efficient and always had a smile for you.
Breakfast was plentiful and of a high standard.
We ate in the restaurant 3 of our 4 nights and the food was delicious and good value for money.
We have visited twice before and always been so impressed with the experience but disappointed when we moved on to somewhere different in Ubud. So, this time , we spent our eight day stay entirely at the Alila Ubud and, yet again, they surpassed our high expectations.
From the moment we arrived we were so warmly greeted by our Alila Ubud ‘family’.
We upgraded to a ‘Valley View Villa’ which was superb with the bed in the middle of the room and which had the most unique and stunning views over the canopy of the rain forest. The covered outside link to the bathroom and wardrobe area was supreme as it had a very large sunken bath in an even bigger fish pond! The dressing room area was spacious with two vanity areas and a separate shower. We never ceased to be amazed at the view from our bed first thing in the morning!
Every morning we were treated to an A La Carte Breakfast, which changed daily over a week, in the covered open air Plantation Restaurant and offered traditional options for the European palette as well as the Ubud Asian options. There were healthy Balinese drinks and smoothies, fresh pastries, fresh fruit and omelette station. All freshly prepared with a service, that was second to none, from the amazing staff who could not do enough for you.
What a way to start your day!
Grateful thanks to Rusmiati, Sri, Nita, Sudi, Marianti and not forgetting Widi!
The Cabana Lounge offers a relaxed poolside dining experience again with amazing staff.
Afternoon Tea at 3pm should not be missed!
The pool area is unique with an infinity pool overlooking that rain forest and, again, a superb attendance and service from the staff in the Cabana Lounge and Kio especially.
We were lucky enough to have experienced three treatments from the Alila Ubud Spa (2 for two hours and 1 for one and half hours) including Balinese massages, facial, reflexology and pedicure in the most perfect surroundings in a treatment area that was covered but open to the sounds of the rain forest with spa music gently playing in the background.
From the unique Balinese Spa reception, throughout the awesome treatments to relaxing with a herbal tea afterwards, all at an amazing cost of about £65 in British Pounds!
Total perfection and a massive thank you to Kadak Rusty, Jess, Ardi, Marianti and Sudi, all of whom were superb in making our Spa experience so utterly perfect and relaxing.
Alila Ubud offer some reasonably priced excursions such as the ‘Guided Cycle Tour’ around the local area and paddi fields as well as the ‘Purification and Prayer’ Tour both facilitated by the amazing DJ and which were excellent and, again, very reasonably priced.
And, if all of this wasn’t enough, the cheeky monkeys arrive when you least expect them, with their family of babies, mischievous young ones and parents. It is a delight to see them in their natural habitat. Please be assured that they are no trouble as the staff are always well prepared to provide a presence to gently keep them at bay.
Every single aspect of the Alila Ubud experience is one to be savoured and enjoyed but special thanks and appreciation must go to every single one of the staff, behind the scenes as well, as they all make this truly beautiful place, my favourite place in the whole world!
To our Alila Ubud family, we thank you 🙏 and we absolutely cannot wait until we return again…
Absolutely wonderful. The pool and cabana area are hard to tear yourself away from. We will definitely be back.
This was the most impressive hotel of my entire Bali trip.
Nestled deep in the jungle, the experience was truly unforgettable—from monkeys trying to steal food during breakfast to the soothing sounds of birds, wind, and rain. Being surrounded by nature made every moment feel special and peaceful.
I would especially like to thank Eva and Dewa from the Rooms team. They were incredibly warm, friendly, and attentive to all of my requests, making my stay extremely comfortable. I am also very grateful to the Assistant Manager who welcomed us at the restaurant the next morning and introduced us to a wonderful dining experience with delicious food.
The natural surroundings are absolutely stunning, and the large, deep swimming pool was amazing. The room was very comfortable, and the outdoor bathtub was a perfect place to relax and unwind.
I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely return on my next visit to Bali. Thank you once again to everyone for such a memorable stay.
The view is truly exceptional and definitely the highlight of the stay.
The front desk team was also very warm and welcoming, which I appreciated.
However, I was disappointed because it was not worth the price.
The room was very small, the massage in the Spa felt quite basic, and the breakfast was also rather simple for this price point.
I have stayed many times at Alila Seminyak (the same chain in a different city) and the experience was much better.
The location of the hotel is scenic and peaceful. We had dinner a couple of times at Cabana Lounge and it was quite flavourful. The spa is clean and staff is efficient. Where we felt the hotel lacked was response time. There was leakage in our bathroom for three days and no one seemed to bother until we demanded it is fixed immediately. Turns out the AC unit was blocked and leaking. The room design is not comfortable. It seems the curtains are going to break and fall from the middle due to lack of wall support. The cleanliness is not there at all - again for the time we were there, the team did not clean surfaces properly. There was perpetual dust and greasiness everywhere. Regardless of what one feels, brekkie options are very limited. Surprisingly, no staff could tell us the name of the GM. For me, this shows lack of training and awareness (or interest). Overall, for the rate charged, it is not value for money. And we gave this feedback at the time of checkout. Oh, and beware of the monkeys.
Alila Ubud made a strong impression from the very first arrival — you truly feel in the middle of the jungle, with that peaceful, “wow” atmosphere (yes, even monkeys around). The service was excellent throughout: professional, warm, and genuinely caring. We also loved the connection with the team — it felt human, not robotic.
The facilities are privileged: breakfast with jungle views, a beautiful pool surrounded by nature, plus spa and gym — it feels like you have everything you need inside the hotel, especially because the area is calm and a bit more “retreat” style. Breakfast was also a highlight for us: quality, variety, and that view is hard to beat.
We spent New Year’s Eve at the hotel and it was incredibly well designed — music, ambiance, details… you could tell they really thought it through, and it felt special without being overdone.
If I had to add one small note: our room wasn’t the most impressive part compared to the rest of the property (the common areas and jungle setting truly steal the show), but the bed was comfortable and overall the experience was fantastic. For the price and what you get, it’s an amazing stay.
Alila Ubud exceeded our expectations. The setting is magical, offering some of the most breathtaking views we’ve ever seen. It was a memorable trip for me, my wife, and our daughters.
The team there is wonderful—excellent service and genuinely helpful with every request. We were also impressed by how spotless the rooms and grounds were kept. The dining experience was another highlight; the food was simply amazing. We left feeling relaxed and very well taken care of.
The absolute kindest, most welcoming & genuine staff. I felt so taken care of and was treated spectacularly. Special shoutout to Iin at the front desk who was kind, gracious, and went above & beyond during my stay! The spa staff were spectacular as well.
We stayed at Alila Ubud for just 2 nights and wished it could have been much longer – it is a truly magical place. The jungle setting is stunning, with macaque monkeys swinging through the trees (and occasionally trying their luck at the breakfast buffet!). The staff are very well trained at gently shooing them away and were friendly and helpful throughout our stay.
Our room was lovely with a beautiful jungle view and very comfortable bed. The vanishing pool is large and absolutely breathtaking, overlooking the rainforest canopy. Breakfast was excellent – fresh, varied and delicious with cooked options made to order. The two on-site restaurants are atmospheric, offering both Balinese and western cuisine.
There is a complimentary afternoon tea with amazing local cakes every afternoon between 3 and 4 in the Cabana restaurant next to the pool which was lovely.
We loved the free morning wellness classes such as yoga, and the complimentary shuttle into Ubud made it easy to explore the town, Monkey Forest and Water Palace. There are quite a lot of steps around the property, so not ideal for mobility issues, but it all adds to the feeling of being immersed in nature.
A peaceful, beautiful retreat and a real highlight of our Bali trip – we would absolutely love to return.
Dear Management,
I would like to share some honest feedback regarding our stay at Alila Ubud so far.
Unfortunately, the experience has not met the expectations of a 5-star property. The reception staff have been noticeably unfriendly, and overall service from various team members has felt unwelcoming and disinterested. Several staff members struggle to communicate in English, which has made basic interactions unnecessarily difficult.
The rooms feel old and dated, and the towels are worn and fraying, which is disappointing for a hotel of this category. In addition, the overall operation appears disorganised, lacking the polish and attention to detail one would expect from a luxury brand.
At this stage, the experience is definitely not reflective of a 5-star standard, and I felt it important to bring this to your attention.
I trust this feedback will be taken seriously and I look forward to seeing whether improvements can be made during the remainder of our stay.

Green Jungle Villas: An Ideal Family Holiday Destination for a Peaceful Getaway from the Hustle and Bustle of City Life
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Green Jungle Villas, surrounded by a plethora of monkeys.
Alila Ubud is a truly special place. It’s not just the breathtaking jungle that surrounds you, but the wonderful staff who always go above and beyond. Yuni and Widi are especially wonderful, but everyone treats me with such care that I feel genuinely honoured. And this isn’t unique to me. Every guest is welcomed with the same heartfelt generosity.
The air feels invigorating, the monkeys are cheeky yet endlessly fascinating, the rooms are beautiful, and the food is consistently delicious. For anyone who loves nature, this is a place you should experience at least once.
I stayed at Alila Ubud for four nights and had an incredible experience thanks to the staff and the thoughtful activities they curated. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of great options. The room was always kept spotless, and you might even catch a monkey strolling past your porch.
I joined several of the complimentary activities, including the rice paddy field walk, which I really enjoyed. A special thanks to Wayan Suasti, who took me to the local market, introduced me to local cuisine, and taught me how to cook Balinese dishes.
Alila Ubud also offers a complimentary 30-minute photoshoot on the property. I shared the style I wanted with Ryan, and he brought it to life beautifully. I ended up purchasing the full set of photos because the shots were that good. I look forward to staying here again when I come back to Bali.
We can’t fault our stay! Everything we needed was available and staff are absolutely incredible - so helpful, friendly and always smiling. Right from checking in (welcome drink was great after travelling long!) until we checked out was a delight. Food and drinks were all great from coffee to cocktails. We also loved our outdoor shower and visits from the monkeys in the morning ! Also the free shuttle bus to Ubud centre is a great help.
From the moment we arrived at this hotel we were looked after. Cold towels and refreshing water while our bags were taken to the room. Late lunch looking over that wonderful pool. Complimentary crisps and dip, Sauvignon Blanc refreshing and light. We had tripped into complimentary afternoon tea.
Service was exemplary.
We didn’t have the most expensive room but had a luxury feel, view from the balcony looking over the jungle valley.
Cycling arranged plus a trek organised. Massages cheaper than the village could offer. Complimentary shuttle service took us back and forth to Ubud.
Delicious breakfast with everything you could want.
