Old fashioned friendly hotel right at the centre of Nottingham
Pros:

Its location in the centre and its ‘old English’ and pub style. It also had air conditioning,very useful in the Summer.

Comfortable hotel in a quiet location
Pros:

Close to the city but far enough away to hear any noise from the city. Also loved the cock and hoop bar

The shower in my room was a fixed head and unable to lower it . Being 5ft 6 I would of liked a shower head where you could adjusted

Dated, unloved and ageing badly
Pros:

The overall first impression of the hotel is nice and great location to be central to the city centre, it was surprisingly quiet considering how close we were to bars etc.

Cons:

The decor was very dated, unfinished painting in the bedroom, it felt like it has been left in 2001 and not touched - the drinks in the mini bar were a year out of date and labels crumbling off. It feels so forgotten - considering it is a renowned Nottingham hotel, it needs closing down and giving a serious makeover. There were Maltesers left in the lift in the morning (presumably for the mini bar), melting in the heat. The air con unit was ugly and noisy and barely worked. We were a little late checking out, and the receptionist made us feel like we had trashed the room and was very rude about it even though we apologised. Don't be fooled by the photos online, it doesn't look or feel anything like a luxury hotel, and for certain not worthy of 4*, I would declass it to a 2* hotel until they invest in it. Disgrace.

Comfortable bed, everything was spotless, friendly staff. Would definitely come back!

The room could get a bit stuffy despite A/C. But absolutely understandable with 35 celsius outside :)

Our room was very small with two tiny windows that were at the top of the ceiling, so could not open or see out of them. The portable air conditioning unit was old and very very noisy. The room felt claustrophobic.

It a long time since I stayed in a hotel this bad.

Hot, stuffy, with an air conditioner that only made noise - no cooling. A fan that didn’t move air but made a racket.

Took a charge on our card to cover incidentals but would not let us charge to our room, so for the hotel’s benefit not the customers
