Staff were very helpful - they provided us with toothpaste as we forgot ours, and allowed us to heat up our take away after a night out. Really nice staff, quiet room despite being next to the lift
There was a sign outside the bedroom window that was lit all night - I struggle to sleep with a light on so that made it slightly difficult for me, but that’s a personal thing
Property is looking a bit tired
Brilliant front desk staff who dealt very well with my unhappiness with the room. She was excellent. Great location. And nice vibe to the place too. Quirky pub/boutique hotel combination.
Old building means awkward layout. Stairs, to get to the lift (which felt like it was going to conk out at any point), to get to more stairs, to get to my top floor room. That's when things really went downhill. Though they don't advertise the rooms as having air conditioning, it's sort of expected these days (this was the first hotel I can remember staying in that didn't have it in the last few years, and that's a pretty big sample size).
What's worse than not having A/C though is having it, but it being out of date and broken. Just a useless lump of grey plastic sticking out of the wall. Doesn't say great things about investment into the property.
I still would have got by, even on the hottest day of the year, up on the top floor where it was very warm. They did provide a ceiling fan and an extra plug-in fan as well. But the double false balcony doors were broken and wouldn't stay shut. It looked like the wood had rotted out around the catches. So warm air was blowing in and I couldn't keep noise or insects out.
I requested an alternative room and was told that while one was available with doors that shut, and air con, the blind had fallen down in that room so I'd have to go without any way to block the window. While I was at the front desk, another guest came down to say that the air conditioning room was leaking water that was puddling on the floor. It was at this point I decided this wasn't somewhere I wanted to stay and checked out to find another hotel.
The hotel management later refunded me 50% of my booking fee, but only after some negotiation.
We were truly shocked by the dilapidated state of this hotel. The reality was nothing like the photographs - or the description we read on its website - to the point where we feel completely misled and certainly over charged. We attach one photograph to show you the state of the windows and the view we had from our room. And inside, it was no better, with stained bath, sink area, chipped paint work etc. Unbelievable.
Very good location, and the room was a little quirky compared to usual budget type hotels. Price paid very reasonable. Easy check in. The shower was surprisingly powerful.
The room was warm and although a fan and an AC unit was supplied the latter was very noisy (though it did cool the room down!) so could not really be used during sleeping hours.
Not a great deal of room for two people to store their toiletries etc though for one night that wasn't really a problem.
Sat Nav wasn't a great deal of help with the City Council car park which is two minutes away but once you know, you know!
Nulla
Foto della camera ingannevole. Le stanze sono pessime. Letti con ruote che mentre dormi si spostano nella stanza !! Moquette ounque con pessimi odori. Stanza non arieggiabile. Scale senza ascensore. Posizione pessima. Nessun parcheggio vicino. Collazzone scarsa e di bassissima qualità. Personale distratto e assente. Da dimenticare.
The accommodation was great and perfectly fitted our needs for a couple of nights for a family wedding. The hotel has loads of character and is well situated for reaching the city. The breakfast was excellent, very hearty, and the staff were all friendly and helpful !
Nothing to note.
Location and cleanliness
My friends tell me it was good.
Can't answer that.
Keuze van diverse eigerechten bij ontbijt of full English. Koffie service in de kamer en water.
Raam in mijn kamer kon niet open. Wifi viel vaak weg waarna je opnieuw moest inloggen met de browser
Great location and the BEST part was ALAN the morning/tea waiter who LOVES his job and it shows! Thank you Alan!!
The worst part is that they put us in a room with MOLD. Kindly moved us but corporate doesn’t reply to our emails.
Also DO NOT PARK OUTSIDE TO DROP OFF BAGS UNLESS YOU WANT A £100 PARKING TICKET (we got TWO because nobody mentioned anything to us.)
