The dove hand soap, body wash and shampoo was a great touch.
The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout my entire 2 day stay. The smell of the hotel when you first enter was very pleasant and the location was ideal for where I needed to go.
The room was a bit cold and I could feel/hear when the other guests opening and closed their doors as they're very heavy. The breakfast was very basic but perfect for myself. No options for dinner, you have to leave or get a delivery.
Breakfast was disappointing due to the presence of permanent residents guests at this hotel. I was overwhelmed to note that this hotel did not declare at the time of taking my booking that I as a paying guest will share my stay with asylum seekers.
Your website should make it clear that your policy is to share the accommodation with asylum seekers. Had I known this it was highly likely that I would not have chosen to stay here
First time in a holiday inn. Very impressed with staff helpfulness. Breakfast was excellent.
The room was very clean and comfortable. I could not fault it as such.
I did not like the air conditioning which did not really keep the room warm.
no need to go to a Zoo.
go for breakfast and watch that!
disgrace from Holiday Inn
A Disappointing Stay at Holiday Inn Leeds
My family and I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn in Leeds, booking a room for two adults, two children (ages 16 and 8), and our two dogs. Unfortunately, our experience was far from what we expected for the £180 we paid, and we left feeling completely let down.
Upon arrival around 8 PM, the first thing we noticed was a strong, unpleasant smell WEED. We also saw a group of people drinking outside the hotel premises, which was an immediate red flag.
The most significant issue was the noise. Despite it being late, loud music and constant talking and laughing from the reception area kept me and the dogs awake. At around 2 AM, I went to take the dogs for a walk and found a receptionist, a person in pyjamas, and a security guard in the reception area. They were still there when I returned around 2:30 AM, with the music still playing loudly. Back in the room, the noise from their conversation was still clearly audible. My dogs' sensitive hearing also meant they were constantly alert to people walking by the door, waking us up throughout the night.
Breakfast was a chaotic experience. My wife and sons went first and found the bacon to be so overcooked it was impossible to cut. When it was my turn, I was honestly shocked by the scene. A security guard was present, and it was clear the hotel was housing a specific clientele. The dining area was loud, with children running and shouting in their pyjamas, making a mess. While my own breakfast was edible because I was so hungry, the overall atmosphere was incredibly off-putting.
all the staff were very helpfull and who ever cooked the breakfasts the food was very well done thanyou
pity the corridors were very long
Breakfast was really nice and there was plenty of choice.
Amenities were all very nice and well maintained. Staff were helpful.
We were given a room for two single beds, which was fine, but we would have preferred a double bed.
Smell when you walk in. Receptionist very scruffy. I think it is being used as bed and breakfast accommodation for homeless people.
comfy bed and warm room. Able to make drink in my room late at night. good choice at breakfast.
the position of the tv on the wall in relation to the bed, as it was not in line with the bed but at an offset angle. No cups to make a hot drink at breakfast and some tables were left with uncleared plates, bowls etc although it was towards the end of breakfast.
friendly staff, comfortable bed
Room and bathroom was quite small, furnishings quite basic. my friend spilt some tonic water on the carpet and when she wiped it up the cloth was filthy so the carpets could definitely do with a deep clean
I liked the helpfulness of staff.
The hotel is clearly being used to host asylum seekers and homeless families - I have no objection but the breakfast area was consequently crowded and there were lots of children running around. It was a bit cramped and overwhelming. There was also a baby crying during the night. This is not a political point as I am not judging anyone's circumstances but I paid for a peaceful stopover and I don't think the accommodation is appropriate fir serving so many purposes.
Toby inn is dreadful
The room, the location, the bed was nice. The staff were kind.
Nothing.
Arrived to an abanonded reception desk. Then loads of kids were running around and screaming unsupervised. Finaly a staff member arrived and was more happy to try and sell bar items from a empty fridge than do anything else. Room was battered with filler on walls broken bath floor tiles a plug hanging off wall and lamp hanging off wall. Clearly a lack of maintenance as then the toilet flush was broken and the sink plug was not even attached. Went for breakfast next morning and choice was Very poor as no muffins no pastries and just plain yoghurt with no fruit puree. No mushrooms and watered down fruit squash. Never had anything this bad as holiday inn breakfast normaly has everything out and lota. I guess staff didnt put these items out or didnt have anything to give people or someone has got up at 6am and took everything but i doubt it
My husband I stayed at this hotel to attend a charity ball at a venue nearby. Upon arrival we were met with people wandering aimlessly and loitering in pyjamas and hooded tracksuits around the reception and breakfast area. It appeared that the hotel was being used to house migrants from third world countries. At no time during my telephone booking was I warned of this and it was not referred to on their website.
Breakfast was an intimidating and frankly horrible experience. The breakfast room was full of presumably migrants, with their uncontrolled children running around and shouting, and hostile eyes everywhere. We were made to feel out of place, conspicuous and unwelcome.
Breakfast itself was rudimentary to say the least; cold plates, cold food, no milk in the coffee machine, watered down orange juice etc. and the hygiene was highlyquestionable because the bread for toast was in a bag that everyone had to reach into with their hands, so we avoided this. I have a compromised immune system so had I known that I would be placed in close proximity with potentially unvaccinated and probably undocumented individuals I would never had made this booking. We saw other paying guests taking their breakfasts back to their rooms to avoid having to sit in the breakfast area.
We paid over £115 for the night, which is totally disgraceful for the situation we found ourselves in. IHG need to seriously rethink their policy because exposing paying guests to this kind of environment is completely unacceptable and, until they change this, we will not spend another penny with them and would suggest others seriously consider this before making a booking at any of their hotels. My opinion is that it is pure greed to take in these people alongside paying guests to the detriment of the paying guests.
