My wife and I have stayed at this Holiday Inn before, but this time was not a pleasant experience. Granted it is a budget priced hotel, but based on our stay this weekend, management seems to have decided that ‘budget’ equates to One Star. One staff member in the restaurant area told me that business in the area is growing and so I think that having a deteriorating building is short sighted.
I need to add that the staff are uniformly pleasant, so no criticism of them at all.
First issue is that the lift was out of service. Staff offered to carry our luggage but we were fine to carry it ourselves - even 80 year olds like to feel we can climb stairs without a problem! Two flights of stairs is not a problem the first time, or even the second, but it does become an issue for every little thing - like getting to our room after breakfast and finding the key didn’t work and having to go back downstairs because “the system was impatient” as the front desk clerk wryly explained.
The lift has been broken for some time because I got a message as soon as I booked - and that was a week ago. If I was management, I would have prioritised the repair as Customer Service issue.
The bedroom we were allocated needs help! We couldn’t run the room air conditioning because it rattled.
For some reason there are no USB sockets or electrical points on one side of the bed. Surely management must know that everyone carries a phone which also serves as their clock and alarm and that these phones need to be plugged in at night to recharge - where we can see them. Very basic need but not present in this room.
The bathroom was in dire condition. The barrel taps required real strength to turn on and were almost impossible to close. The sink drained very slowly and the drain is obviously plugged with hair.
The black mould around the panels surrounding the shower might be a health hazard (I will upload photos if permitted.)
The one positive was the toilet which flushed like Niagara Falls! (Although probably 5 times as much water as actually required if you’re being water conscious.)
I’m sorry to have to be so negative about this property, but I think that next time I am in the area I will have to investigate alternatives, unless management decide to make some serious but basic adjustments.
The hotel was average, clean enough, and exactly what I would of expected due to price. However went to breakfast and omg how can it be so bad. I went down at 0745 and it looked like it had been out about 3 days. It looked stale, everyrhing was horrendous. The hash browns looked anemic, the bacon was dry, the sausages weren't event edible. To top it off they couldn't even provide an apple juice without it watered down. Very disappointed
staff member talking rude about sausages at breakfast, speaking about you within ear shot, having four police officers in your room because staff said white powder everywhere, having a cheese knife, snooping in your room when out, but it’s ok because they left tea and coffee but didn’t make the beds or bathroom, when confronted stated not trained in any of the above, police not impressed as staff stated police didn’t speak to them after, welfare check after 3 weeks for a 27 yr old, shame but it only takes a couple of apples to ruin the lot, but i must say there was two good female members of staff that were a blessing,
Attended a gig at castle in summer, no issues, good spacious room, safe, clean, tidy, good breakie and willing get veggie sausage, 30 min walk to castle
Goid rooms .but waiting around while they keep bringing breakfast items not good .no bacon .beans ran out egg ran out .Not enough tables .waiting around for 19 minutes to be seated
Stayed there for one nite, added bonus had, a bar. Breakfast was average, room facilities were excellent, good location.........................
Myself and a colleague stayed for 4 nights during an event close by. The hotel was perfect in every way. Front desk were knowledgeable in every query and 100% helpful with anything we needed. All other staff were courteous, professional and very attentive. Breakfast was on time at 6:30 every morning. Vegetarian requirements met for breakfasts without any fuss at all. Rooms were clean, fresh and serviced every day during our absence. All in all, it's a really stress free hotel with everything you need for an over night stay or more. Will definitely be staying here again if we attend the same event next year and any other time we are close by.
The team on reception were lovely and couldn't do enough for us. Nice size and comfortable room with good bathroom. Great location for quick drive into Warwick
Staff lovely
Room ok
Bathroom awful, no shower only a bath!
No hot chocolate
Dinner was over priced, warm and gross
Breakfast was lovely
We stayed at this hotel the room was very clean bathrooms too the staff was lovely friendly good advice
parking with voucher code cost £5 very easy too we sat in lounge got drinks and snacks at bar there was a restaurant to get food but we had a lovely meal already at Saxon mill
The next day we had a great breakfast self service but everything you wanted I would highly recommend.
Tip get both keys so you can leave the warm air on when you out of room and ask for room facing the carpark less sound from traffic.
Good fine
Check in ok
Drinks a little expensive
Room ok little tired
Convenient location with good sized rooms. Tasty breakfast buffet.
good
Room was great, staff were great. Constantly under pressure during a very busy breakfast, hotel obviously full but they were short staffed. Trying desperately to keep customers happy although having to supply what can only be described as a substandard breakfast.
Many items missing, and the rest was cold, no milk until finally topped up, and the staff were bearing the brunt of the complaints.
But as I said, they were glaringly short staffed!
Nice environment and a convenient hotel placement means its just a few min from Warwick castle* very useful escape from hotel to motorway too so its fast in and easy out when time to go home x staff are friendly and the hotel is clean inside* i had a family room wich was very spacious and lovely for our weekend away*
Found the room better standard than expected, given room price. Annoyed at having to pay for parking ... but it is still very reasonable overall. Buffet breakfast was fairly basic, with limited choices to make your own "full English"; good choice of teas and coffees. Would certainly stay again.
Staff couldn’t have been more helpful or friendly. Perfect for our one night stay with two children. ☺️
Usual standard offered from this Holiday Inn Express. Room was reasonable. Noise from M40 was apparent at night. However the tertiary glazing made it bearable. The AC was noisy so not used. Bedding possibly too thick for time of year but adequate. The greeting at Breakfast was somewhat abrupt with the member of staff showing no friendliness and probably not really wanting to be there. However the choice of breakfast items was reasonable. Parking was £5 per night and easy to use. Overall an excellent location for visiting the northern Cotswolds. Be mindful of heavy traffic at rush hours whilst accessing the M40 and A46 roundabout.
Everything was just right.
Staff at reception were great. Very friendly and helpful. Room was a good size and comfortable. Breakfast though was pretty terrible. There just wasn't enough food out for the number of people being served with most food running out within minutes, and what was out just wasn't good. Hash browns were one of the worst I've ever had and the squash was diluted so much it was like drinking lightly flavoured water. We only stayed one night. Would not have been able to have that breakfast for multiple days
