Las habitaciones, el bar, el hotel en sí es muy lindo.
En los pasillos aveces sentía olor a alfombra aspirada con aspiradora vieja.
The Empress Hotel was truly amazing…🤩🤩
We decided to stay on the Gold Floor and it was first class all the way. The amenities and level of service were impeccable. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself here.
NOTHING
We came for my wife's birthday and had the best time. The whole concept is an excellent between traditional/legacy and Pacific North West relaxed/mellow wibe. They upgraded us to junior suit with a perfect view over the harbour, mountains, parliament/assembly, etc. Food was pricy but excellent. The room service, and the service overall (called "Royal Service" ;-) strikes that perfect balance between classy and kind, and not intrusive or over the top. All is high quality but not pretentious - which is true BC. The tea in the room is their own and great (you can buy it in the store downstairs). We loved the newly/reopened Bengal restaurant and now breakfast is served - also pricy but worth it. Spa - if you book a certified professional for a deep tissue massage, you will not regret it: was one of the best ever for my wife. Last but certainly not least - the bed is very comfortable but as for the pillows: there is a list and you can choose from it all different kinds and thy will deliver it to the room. Made all the difference! All in all, if you think it is pricy, it is, but if you can, do go for it!
All was great
The building is beautiful, the room was great (comfortable bed) and the location amazing
Hotel renovations meant restaurants and bar have been temporarily relocated. Breakfast was terrible (slow, hard eggs, cold coffee) and bar lacked atmosphere (crowded, noisy and under staffed)
We booked a room
With a city view and the windows were frosted so no view at all, the bathroom was tiny.
The Empress has been renovated since we last stayed in 2010 - the facelift has been done with grace and taste, and with respect for the history of this grand old lady whilst bringing the hotel into the modern era. The corridors to the rooms are almost never ending, with interesting historical photographs, furniture and artefacts tastefully displayed to add to the sense of the past merging with the present.
The location of The Empress is central and picturesque, and at the time we visited, the hotel was prettily decorated for the festive season.
Our room was spacious and comfortable and included thoughtful touches such as a cork yoga mat and bathrobes / slippers.
We enjoyed High Tea which is a celebrated ritual associated with this institution and even the non-tea drinkers developed a new appreciation for tea!
Nothing we didn't like - this was a lovely splurge and we were very well looked after.
Lovely hotel, amazing staff, and they made my mom's birthday very special.
We loved everything!
