Henry is very great and is super helpful. Has been very helpful since I arrived. Questions i have. He's awesome 👌
Great location for the LPL conference. Across the street from convention center. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was clean - very quiet. Sofia the front desk supervisor was outstanding. I travel a lot for business and never had someone from the hotel reach out to me directly to fix (not just assist but fix) my problem. She removed the stress from my visit to San Diego and will only stay at this hotel going forward. If you are coming to San Diego stay here.
I took my sister for her birthday from July 19-20/2026. I called the week of to navigate which room I would choose, Kevin answered, and it was an experience. He was so sweet, helpful, personable, honest, and charming. He helped me choose the perfect room (loft with balcony) to help my sister have the best experience! And she did! One of our most favorite hotel experiences by far.
When we got there, we said hello, and he spoke to us like he knew us. He gave us some generous breakfast certificates which we woke up too late to use! Still a regret to this day! But we ended up using our 15 dollar hotel bucks towards lunch in the restaurant. It was actually very good which made us regret the breakfast even more, but one day, I'll recover.
Kevin, if you read this, thank you for your generosity and genuineness!
We really loved this stay and I would give 6 stars if it were possible.
Starting with the great service from Rene at the front desk who helped us get our amazing room in the “Lofts” building, to the beautiful rooms, to the amazing outdoor space with games (ping pong, giant sized chess and checkers, and bean bag toss) to the free coffee by day and the nice bartenders at night by the fire pit….its just first class all the way.
Amazingly, the room rate was reasonable !
The hotel is walking distance to all the action (bars, restaurants and shopping) on 5th street.
Areas for improvement? Well I don’t like $70/night for parking, but to be fair, this was unfortunately what the other hotels in the area also charge. That said, if you walk a block to 6th street, you can park for $20-$25/night. Inconvenient, but doable.
Overall, loved this place and I would definitely recommend staying here.

I recently stayed at the Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter while attending a conference across the street. While I initially chose the property for its convenient location, the experience exceeded all my expectations. The recent remodel is fantastic—the entire hotel is modern, immaculate, and spotless.
What truly elevated my stay was the top-tier service from the front desk team:
Kevin at Check-in: Kevin was absolute magic. Realizing I’d forgotten several essentials for my business trip, he stepped in without hesitation to help fulfill my specific requests. His proactive, above-and-beyond care immediately set a warm tone for my stay.
Rene (Front Desk Supervisor): On checkout day, Rene was incredibly helpful, attentive, and professional, making sure my departure was seamless.
It’s rare to encounter service this consistently thoughtful. Between the pristine updated rooms and the exceptional staff, I couldn't have asked for a better stay. Highly recommended for anyone visiting San Diego!
Our room in the Loft portion of this hotel was exceptionally memorable. Instead of a typical hotel room, the Loft rooms are unique and large with expansive windows looking out on the Gaslight District. Next time we're in San Diego, we'll stay here.
The breakfast was great and plenty of options at the Wild Hare. The rooms are a small but it’s expected in downtown SD. Our room was a bit warm on the top floor but they did provide a portable ac unit in the room.
Also, the staff was great in helping us out throughout our stay, in particular Kevin from the front desk helped us navigate our day even providing a “things to do” guide of the surrounding area.
We are currently staying at the Hilton Gaslamp SD, our chosen hotel everytime we visit SD, and we're immediately greeted with smiles and kindness at check-in by Nethmi and Kevin! We have a few more days of stay and a few memories to take home. We always recommend this hotel to our families and friends.
We had a wonderful four-day family vacation at the Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter. Here is a breakdown of what we liked and some important things to keep in mind for your trip.
Hotel Size - This is a boutique hotel that is much smaller and less overwhelming than the massive Hilton San Diego Bayfront located across the railroad tracks by the convention center. If you are deciding between the two, I highly recommend this property for its more manageable, intimate size.
Location - The location is perfect—right in the heart of the Gaslamp District and just two blocks from Petco Park. There are restaurants and cafes everywhere, making it incredibly easy to walk to a Padres game. The hotel rooms feature soundproof glass windows that do an excellent job of blocking out the noise from the crowds outside, and the immediate area felt very safe. There is also a convenient trolley stop nearby. I would avoid staying further north in downtown, as it gets a bit seedier.
The Lofts at 5th Avenue Building (Rooms & Amenities) - Instead of the main building, we chose to stay in the Lofts at 5th Avenue Building. While most of the accommodations there are larger suites, we booked two regular-sized rooms with two double beds (Rooms 357 and 457). The rooms were incredibly spacious, featuring massive bathrooms with beautiful bathtubs and separate walk-in showers. The hotel also provided nice extra touches like robes, slippers, pillow mist, and premium bath accessories. As a bonus, there was an ice and water dispenser on each floor just steps from our door. To get to the Lofts Building, you take the main elevator to the Terrace level, walk outside across the terrace, and then take a second elevator up to the 3rd and 4th floors. Some reviewers complained about this layout, but our family actually preferred it!
In-Room TV & Streaming - I was thrilled to find that the hotel didn't lock down its TVs, allowing me to easily plug in and set up my Roku player to access my own streaming options. If you don't bring your own device, the hotel TVs also have some built-in streaming apps available.
Dining & Diamond Benefits - If you are a Hilton Diamond member, the only place that accepts the daily Food & Beverage credit is the Wild Hare Beer Garden (open all day), as well as the tiny marketplace next to the front desk. The restaurant is extremely expensive, especially for breakfast—pancakes alone cost $22. Because the F&B credit is only $15 per person ($30 total for a two-guest room), eating here will still result in a hefty out-of-pocket expense. We opted to skip the hotel breakfast entirely and explore the neighborhood instead. We actually spent less money dining out than we would have spent at the hotel even with the credit applied! I highly recommend checking out Cine Café (a bodega right across the street) for great food and delicious muffins, Achilles Coffee Designers around the corner, or Olala Crepes just up the street.
Entertainment & Activities - The hotel features a small but really nice outdoor pool and a great gym. Out on the terrace, they have ping-pong, corn hole, and giant chess and checkers sets. They even hosted a free family movie night on the terrace complete with complimentary popcorn, which was a huge hit.
Parking Tip - (Do the Math!) Valet parking at the hotel is extremely expensive at $70 per night. I originally rented a car for $481, but canceled it at the last minute when I realized parking would add another $350 to our trip. Instead, we used Lyft for everything, including airport transfers and trips to the suburbs. The total cost of all our Lyft rides combined was less than what we would have paid just to park a car at the hotel. Definitely crunch the numbers before you decide to rent a car.
Overall - highly recommend this hotel for its beautiful rooms, fantastic family activities, and unbeatable location!
The Wild Hare Bar at Hilton Gaslamp San Diego has the best bartenders in town. They go the extra mile for their patrons and are friendly, fast, and welcoming. I can’t thank them enough for the time they showed me. Shoutout to Lindsey, Melissa, Vanessa, Carl, and Chris. Always a Good Time Max
Staff went out of their way to help. Jimmy and Kevin had to find a creative solution to an urgent business communication issue I was having. They genuinely cared and really saved my hide. Thank you jimmy and Kevin.
This example highlights how the staff of the San Diego gas lamp Hilton take pride in their work.
The hip and helpful staff really makes the hotel work. It is a very stylish and well appointed hotel in a prime location. Walking distance from the great Gaslamp area and Petco park
Great customer service and introduction
Excellent service ! Kevin at the front desk was extremely informative and helpful in making sure we had a great experience. 100% would stay again.
Great experience for visit to SD for comicon. The front desk was an amazing and helpful. We appreciated the help from staff such as Kevin and Jimmy. Their personal care and attention to us was amazing. We will come back to stay here next comicon!
This was by far my favorite Hilton stay so far. The rooms in the Loft building are very nicely appointed with nearly floor to ceiling windows, huge tubs, down comforters, a spacious layout, nespresso machines, robes/slippers, the whole nine! Out on the terrace there was a spacious area with ample and comfortable seating, games like ping pong and giant chess, checkers, and connect 4. We had plenty of time to chill and enjoy the area. Additionally, the area around the hotel was bustling and energetic. We walked all over to see the comic con displays being erected; there was no shortage of things to do or see. We had a couple of meals in the Wild Hare Bar Garden and the food was very good. We had breakfast, salads, apps, and drinks and were never disappointed. The valet parking fee was the only thing I thought was a little exorbitant, but parking in gaslamp and all over downtown is pricey and it’s nice to know that you can go in and out and your car is safe.
Firstly I want to start with what a pleasure it was to stay at the Hilton. During comic con weekend part of the prep is where to stay . And trying to decide which hotel brand will provide the best experience . The customer service here was top notch. especially during a very busy time, so much pressure and trying to accommodate so many people and businesses your hotel chain always made it seem effortless. The staff was always pleasant and did what they could to help. Thank you !!
Had a great stay. Jimmy & Kevin at the front desk are awesome!!!
The team at the Hilton Gaslamp is awesome, specifically Kevin and Jimmy. They were extremely friendly and remembered me each time I came and went which was above and beyond, especially during such a hectic Comic Con weekend. They made the Hilton feel like home!
The location is perfect for the San Diego convention center and the staff is so helpful. Especially to Kevin. He took the time to address all of my questions and concerns with a smile and patient attitude. He is wonderful and a treasure to the Hotel.
