The staff at the breakfast were friendly attentive and helpful
I am extremely disappointed with my recent stay.
To begin with, a 3pm check‑in time is unreasonable, yet the facility still has the audacity to charge guests for late check‑out.
The bed and pillows were very uncomfortable, making it difficult to get proper rest.
Most concerning, the cleaning staff entered my room without knocking while I was still getting dressed, despite the fact that I was preparing to leave well before the 12 noon check‑out time. This is a serious breach of privacy and completely unacceptable.
The hotel was i expected, nice comfortable and yet professional
Nothing to mention
Great location
Air conditioning set to bare minimum which didn’t cool the room enough. We couldn’t override and increase.
Good location
Staff
Nothing
Arrived at hotel after an almost 6 hour solo drive to find absolute chaos everywhere. It took several minutes to even enter the carpark from the linkway as there were so many vehicles and people everywhere. After driving round the carpark several times in a queue of traffic and milling people I finally managed to park. I then realised the hotel was hosting a PROM event which explained all the crowds. I managed to push my way through although the reception wasn't much better with big balloons and banners everywhere.
I told the receptionist I had just had a lot of trouble getting into the carpark and then into the hotel through the crowds and she informed me I had arrived at prom drop off time. She took my details and I paid for my room which was pre-booked. I was then asked to give my car registration number in and I entered it on the form she gave me.
I was then asked to pay a £50 deposit which would be held incase I charged anything to my room.
I hadn't been informed of this prior to arrival so this was about of a shock but I agreed and paid it.
I then said to the receptionist I had to go out shortly and was worried about finding a parking spot on my return given how busy it was. So she said I'd turned up at the busiest time and it should be ok when I came back.
I went out for an hour and came back and went to my room and then later out for food with my dad.
There was a lot of noise from the prom party and lots of people in and out although thankfully I couldn't hear anything from my room.
I was aware the hotel had a pool which I would have liked to have used but there was no information on this either in the room or online and I didn't want to go down to the reception which was busy and noisy with the prom party so that was disappointing.
I checked out in the morning by handing my room card over and thought nothing more of it.
Now just over a week later I have received a £100 parking fine for parking in the hotel carpark overnight. I'm absolutely furious as I have never had a fine before.
I called the hotel and was told that I should have scanned the code on arrival. I explained I arrived in the middle of prom drop off and how busy it was and was told there was nothing they could do and I need to appeal the fine using my booking details. She was implying it was my fault as I should have seen all the signs especially the one in the lobby. I didn't as it was so chaotic and crowded there and all I was told was to write my registration down which I did.
I have stayed at many a hotel before and have never encountered this before.
£100 parking fine for parking overnight at the hotel?!
Was close to training centre I was going too
Was piss in toilet when I arrived
Good location for what we needed
Room wasn’t very clean, was given a disabled access room when we didn’t need one so being a tall couple the restricted height of the sink and other part of the room wasn’t ideal or comfortable.
The woman on the front desk was not welcoming on check in and couldn’t find our booking for a long time. There was a large wedding taking place and that seemed to just take over the place, the staff and the lobby, lifts, corridors. There were spillages of drinks in the lift and corridors. The room was extremely dusty in places and not very well stocked (only 1 English breakfast tea). Did mention a few issues to the staff but they said they were busy with the wedding and would try to help when they could… no one contacted us or resolved anything. On checking out no one thanked us or even acknowledged we had been there - I just placed the key card in the box, the woman on reception didn’t even look at me- too busy chatting with another member of staff.
Not would I would expect from this type of hotel and certainly not worth the money paid.
Friendly staff. Good to have access to a pool and spa, decent sized room with a very large comfy bed. Clean and tidy throughout
Poor pedestrian access to central St Helens, the only route is via a narrow pavement on a very busy road. It looks like direct access has been recently blocked off. The pool area was generally tidy, but a little careworn
Superb facilities, free car parking and the staff were helpful and friendly. Loved the pool especially as it was mid heatwave when I stayed
The aircon was ice cold in the room and was a welcome relief from the heatwave
Room was very large, had a fridge and was immaculately clean. It was also very quiet, no noise from the road or coridoors.
The only thing letting it down was the bathroom, it definitely needed an upgrade.
Good hotel staff was helpful
I have to admit the pillows in the bed ware so uncomfortable flat even with 2 did not make any difference Need proper pillows!
The towels were dirty and had brown spots on them. The shower flooded when used as the bath tap didn’t turn off when you switched it to shower mode. The tub was very high and hard/dangerous to step in and out of.
Cleanliness
It’s location
Clean and comfortable. Room was quiet. Breakfast is extra but worth the money.
There were issues with the elevator throughout our stay. We had to change room after checking in as our room safe was broken but the staff were very helpful and accommodating in moving us.
It was great, the staff were helpful and kind. Following an operation I was really impressed when the cleaner in the reception showed concern. Thanks
I had an omelette which was great but the rest of the hot food was warm not hot. Staff were great at restocking immediately, but no hot facilities were seen to keep food hot.
