All
We booked this hotel to get an early morning flight without realizing that the walkway was now closed. The hotel had a shuttle, so not an issue. The staff was wonderful!
The shuttle option
The front desk staff would not listen to me when I said I paid prior to coming online. She talked over me and barely listened.
Then I showed her proof and she asked for a credit card for the accidental fee etc so I gave her a different card.
She asked for my card I used online and I gave her the last four. She tried to secretly charge it but the alert came up because I locked my card! Then she goes to the back to call booking company I used and was able to confirm I DID PAY! My issue is her being sneaky! She would have over charged me and then would have cause an huge issue
Everything was excellent
The room was fine, but we arrived late due to flight delays and we still had a wait over an hour for our room to be ready.
This hotel feels very "empty" and removed from the new vibe given off by the new airport design. And of course, the hotel IS removed. But it has the feeling of being far removed. It kind of sits out there, far away, as this lonely structure standing up out of nowhere. The hotel is still busy. The hotel is still service-oriented. The hotel is still clean, albeit with a feeling of being somewhat dated. I liked the fact that I could park right outside the door. But it felt funny to have to leave the airport and drive around and "return to the terminal" in order to park my car in the new terminal garage. They have a shuttle, which is probably very convenient and will probably be the way to go from now on. The restaurant service was excellent and the food was pretty good. I suspect they can do something really creative with the property surrounding this hotel, making a stay here as inviting as it once was. As for right now, the hotel looks lonely and it feels lonely.
Since the Pittsburgh airport has changed you can no longer walk across the bridge to go into the airport from this hotel it's all based on a shuttle system now that they haven't quite worked out all the kinks yet. At 5:00 in the morning there were at least six or seven people waiting because the shuttle is too full. The Hyatt itself is very nice however you must know that when you enter the property you have to go up and down steps or take the elevator off to the side that only goes to the lobby. The rooms are clean and taken care of however they do need their bathrooms updated especially the bathtubs and the shower and the walls in the bathroom. It is a very quiet hotel however at 3:00 in the morning I almost had to call the front desk because somebody kept slamming the doors on purpose and they were screaming up and down the hallways and it stopped after about a half hour. But by that time I couldn't sleep so I checked out of the hotel at 5:00 a.m.
Hotel is close to the airport, and the fact that there is a free shuttle to and from the airport is a plus.
Customer service response through chat is not reliable. I asked a question on Feb 13 while I was a guest here, and I received a reply on Feb 22, a week after I checked out. That wasn’t very helpful. Also, hotels do not have microwaves, and warming food required me to use the microwave in the lobby pantry. Also rooms are not soundproof. I could clearly hear people in adjacent rooms talking like we were in the same room.
Walls very thin. Noisy-doors slamming at all hours. Could hear people in next room talking and babies crying. Very convenient to airport however sleep is minimal due to noise.
I had a very disappointing experience with the front desk and the manager. When I raised a concern about my room, the manager responded in a way that felt dismissive and unprofessional. I was surprised by the tone and lack of willingness to help. Unfortunately, this was one of the most uncomfortable customer service experiences I’ve had at a hotel.
