Wonderful olde world charm. Every part of the hotel is welcoming: decor, cosy fireplaces, sofas to sit and read, ambience, lovely bar and great staff. Room was perfect with a very comfy bed and a good strong shower.
Nothing to add.
Location was very central and hotel had a good vibe from decor and guests.
Staff ignored me whilst in a Q for breakfast, the group before and after was attended to me, completely skipping me. I made my way to a 2nd breakfast room, where again nobody greeted me, I helped myself to the continental breakfast and after 10mins I was asked if I had ordered.breakfast. I hadn't, I was given a menu and ordered the salmon and scrambled eggs, the eggs were terrible. Others in the group (they attended earlier to me) had the full irish and were not impressed.
Arrived the previous evening and no parking to be found, construction at rear of property, I got lucky to park on street with no charge incurred.
The room I stayed in was the farthest away room from the lift When I checked in the person in front of me was given an upgrade to my class of room which I was after paying full price for As a returning customer I felt I should also have got an upgrade
The old world charm, central location, excellent staff great food comfortable beds, nice toiletsrie
Nohing
Very clean and great location
Nothing
Lovely place, friendly staff, food and atmosphere great. Got an upgrade. No complaints. Check in and check out were simple and unfussy
You are very central to the town.
Room was very dated and badly needed a painting. The only method of heat was an oil filled radiator which was left on the fulltime which 1. Can not be safe and 2. When travelling with kids is not ideal.
All of this I could have ignored except for the fact I booked room only as I was travelling with a child and they may or may not want breakfast. I phoned down at 9am for breakfast to be delivered as a child was under the weather and we had a bad sleep. I ordered 1 plate of pancakes and 3 sausages. They also brought very very cold toast and luke warm coffee. The sausages were horrible , but I didn't make a fuss. When we went to pay I was being charged €36!!! When I asked to speak to a managed they said I was charged for 2 full breakfasts. When I showed them the receipt and that it was pancakes and 3 small sausages, the best he could do was €26 and patronizingly " we will give you breakfast for free next time" as if there would be a next time. This is my 5th or 6th stay in the Old Ground down through the year and it is definitely the last!!!!
Tiny travel kettle that took about 5minutes to boil 1 cup of water. Tiles in bathroom in need of proper clean white pastry mildew on tiles. Only body lotion beside the sink so you have to stretch in over the bath to get some shower gel to wash your hands. None of this I would have complained about if it wasn't for the breakfast price!
Friendly helpful staff. Lovely surrounds.

Bardzo fajny hotel. Miła obsługa, czysto. Blisko centrum. Pokój duży przestronny.
The location is central. Food in The Poet's Corner was excellent. The bedroom was spacious and comfortable. Lovely bathroom too.
Parking was not available at midday.
Great staff, superb location & clean comfortable rooms
Like too many hotels, the 'large king size double' bed was actually two smaller beds/mattresses side by side & not suitable for couples.
Great location. Good value. Rooms comfortable. Food delicious

The room and how clean it was
As it being my 5th time there,I do really like the hotel, but as far , the dinner was poor we received it in 3 minutes we hadn’t even got our drinks and been in the hospitality industry with 15 years there can only be one way it was done. Lamb shank was lovely but everything else with it like vegetables and sides were not.
Which brings me to breakfast, the menu was very accommodating and had loads of options on it, we went with the full Irish, it was very dry, over cooked, and no beans?, In a full Irish breakfast and had to ask for toast, all seemed confusing to me.
Also the night we woke up at 1 am, and were very thirsty and did drink the water provided in the room but needed more. We went down to reception looking to see was it ok to get 2 pints of MI Wadi blackcurrant and a glass of coke, the night porter had no idea what i was asking for and said he doesn’t know what mi wadi is. I showed him pictures of it and he said I’ll see what’s on the shelves if we don’t have it we don’t. I explained it was juice with water that’s all and he said I’ll see what’s there. Luckily another young guy was working and explained to the night porter it’s blackcurrant and water and he went himself and looked after us, but was charged €5.10 for a glass of coke by the night porter.
Overall the room was fabulous as always, day staff were well accommodating.
Lovely
Room was a little chilly
