Location and activities
Rooms are a bit too old, air conditioning is very loud, sheets are rough and the pillows big.
Options for eating are limited and the pool was dirty.
The location is just wonderful and at night the sounds of the rainforest are so peaceful! We did the boat trip along the canal to monkey island and loved it - 100% recommend and guide was great. Would also recommend a walk into the local village the people were very friendly. The pool is large and enjoyable although a bit dated.
The balcony was beautiful but the fencing had gaps large enough for our son to fit through so didnt feel safe for younger children. We loved the pool but it was a bit tired (not the cleanest and some maintenance needed like replacing missing tiles to make it amazing again).
Stunning location, food was delicious, drinks were strong. Staff were attentive, polite, and helpful. Pool was nice, large but a bit dated and run down. Tours were fun. Bed very comfortable.
Room floor was a little dirty when we arrived, didn't really get cleaned fit the 3 nights we stayed. a/c stuck on very cold setting, slight smell of damp, dehumidifier working overtime.
Gutes Essen, freundliches Personal, tolle Aussicht.
Location great for the canal & surrounding activities - it has a monopoly on position.
The rooms we were given weren’t what we booked and we ended up involving the manager to organise a refund on the difference. He tried his best but the hotel had failed to answer our messages about the room change before we arrived and the sort out took a long time on arrival, so the overall experience was poor. The two rooms we were eventually given were tired but perfectly clean and comfortable. One had an AC thermostat problem which wasn’t resolved despite a call out to maintenance. We found the hotel itself noisy - you can hear people in the rooms around you & there was a pool party going on one afternoon for locals which was v noisy. The food is very average. This hotel could be so much better than it is.
Beautiful view, loved the hammock
Air conditioner was noisy and inconsistent
Staff were pretty helpful. The views of the rainforest were lovely. We did the sloth sanctuary tour and it was interesting and worth the price. The room was pretty comfortable and spacious and having the balcony with the hammock was nice to relax.
There's a huge issue (for me) with obtaining coffee in the morning. We had 3 people to a room but they only hand out 2 coffee pods per room per day. Well we used both and the coffee machine somehow sucked them up w/o resulting in coffee. The front desk doesn't keep extras (also they cost $2/pod for replacements). The restaurants don't open until 7 am or 9am so you can't get coffee until then. In a place like Panama with coffee abundance and with the cost of the resort, they could be more generous with the coffee. Or at least have a way for people to brew their own that's not a stupid coffee pod. I digress.
The bathrooms by the pool were dirty and not stocked (no TP in any stalls for >24 hours). Overall, the facilities were dirty. Even the monkey bar restaurant leaves dirty dishes on the takes overnight and doesn't sweep the floor. I went down before they were open to look at the view and was surprised to see the mess from the night before just out on the tables like the staff just abandoned it at quitting time. The hallways and other areas were being painted while we were there but the floors never got swept or cleaned.
The resort is overpriced in my opinion. We really had a nice time and it was a good spot to stay away from the chaos of Panama city, but with a huge price tag. Many of the tours we wanted to do were weekends only or weren't on the days we were there so we missed out.
El lugar es bello
The jungle location
The pool
The pool closes too early
