Ubicación
Instalaciones muy antiguas
The hotel was in a great location and very interesting due to the historical nature. We were offered a very affordable upgrade to a historical suite which we took, and it was really cool seeing the way the hotels used to be built and all the history; the floors were uneven due to the hotel shifting over time, the fireplace had the original marble mantle, the bathroom sink had neat sideways taps, etc. It was a beautiful exterior, walkable in downtown, and dog friendly.
While the historical suite was cool and clean, it was a bit run down. The carpets were stained/worn and had bleach spots on them from cleaning, the fireplace was decorative only, and the windows (on the 4th floor) are low set (below waist) and open fully with no screens/bars/protection - a falling hazard for kids/dogs. No A/C. Still a cool room, but if I go back, I'd probably elect to keep a modern/updated room.
The location was good and the receptionist was very good.
The room was a little noisy- we could hear our neighbors and footsteps from the room above us. The pillows were hard and not comfortable.
Awesome location. The hotel has character being an older building but it can be quirky if you are expecting a resort style visit. Being downtown it is a little walk to get to Cannery Row. But the walk is nice and doable.
Location.
The location an staff were good.
I was given the wrong size bed. I booked for a queen an I was given a broken full size bed. I'm 7months pregnant both my self and my fiance are over 6ft. The room had mold in both windows and growing in the shower. I had to wipe our bathroom down because there was what looked loke blood on the light switch, the bathroom sink, and the toilet.

La ubicación
El ruido
No me gustó nada
Estaba viejo y sucio.
Wonderful experience again. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean and comfortable room. Convenient to local restaurants, aquarium and peer. Our go to for when we visit Monterrey.
Great location. Old Victorian charm. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Toilet flushes like an airplane lavatory- feels like micro particles spray into the bathroom.
Bathroom needs towel hooks.
★★★★★
I had a truly exceptional stay at The Monterey Hotel. From the moment I arrived, the staff were remarkably efficient, professional, and genuinely welcoming. Their attention to detail and commitment to guest satisfaction made my visit seamless and enjoyable.
The rooms are beautifully appointed, comfortable, and impeccably maintained, providing a warm and relaxing atmosphere.
Breakfast was not offered. Hotel was clean. Bed comfortable. Staff was terrific. Location was perfect.
No breakfast offered. Rooms were small. No fridge unless you pay extra. Must go to front desk for Ice. Had to ask for a chair to be brought to my room just to be able to sit somewhere besides the bed. Parking was a nightmare. And expensive to use the valet service
We were really disappointed with our stay at this hotel. The photos online are extremely misleading and do not reflect the actual condition of the property. When we arrived, we genuinely didn’t even recognize it from the exterior because it looked so different—far more run-down and dated in person.
Inside, the hotel felt very dingy. The carpets were visibly dirty and stained to the point where we didn’t feel comfortable placing any bags or purses on the floor unless they could be wiped down afterward. Overall cleanliness and upkeep were not what we expected based on the listing.
One particularly uncomfortable experience happened early in the morning. As a mom of two currently in my first trimester, I was feeling nauseous and went down to the lobby to avoid waking my family. While I was sitting quietly, hotel staff came and banged on the door, questioning whether I was a guest and asking me to leave. Even after explaining the situation, the interaction felt invasive and lacking in basic privacy and courtesy.
The only real positive was the location—it is within walking distance to many nearby attractions, which was convenient.
That said, we would strongly suggest looking into other nearby hotels for a more comfortable and welcoming experience.
We ran into this hotel by chance & I’m so happy we got to experience this beauty! The building was clean with necessities. I love the charm & history of that era. All of the Employees were helpful & kind.
