The hotel is hard to find, the room was so hot and stuffy: the staff was not welcoming
Location was good
Noise from room above interrupted my sleep. People climbing up and down the stairs. Need more insulation or better carpeting to absorb the noise from footsteps!
If you want to pay 400.00 for the location being on Alvarado St., choose the Double Tree.
I used to live there and worked in the hotel business for 10 years. one hotel I ran was a historic hotel. The ambience of the hotel is nice but if you want a good night's sleep, that didn't happen for us. The bed was broken and sank in the middle! The historic hotel I had had the number 1 priority, the beds and bedding must be comfortable.
There is no excuse. I'm sure the response will be, "You should have stayed in our deluxe rooms." It would have cost more but....
We only stayed 1 night we were traveling the coast for our 40th wedding anniversary. Should have stayed at one of the other properties but my wife worked at Wells Fargo down there for 15 years. So we were nostalgic. Next time we'll stay at the Ramada in Marina. Their beds are comfortable and a lot cheaper.
The location
The staff wasn’t helpful

Good location, good staff,
No ac which wasn’t told to me thru booking.com and the room was hot, we were given a box fan that broke as soon as we turned it on, the hallway and room had a musty smell and housekeeping missed quite a few things when cleaning from the prior guests. We only stayed one night but if we were there longer we probably would have left to a different hotel.
The location was really the only highlight of our stay. Unfortunately, everything else fell short of what we expected for the price we paid.
There was no air conditioning in the room, which made for uncomfortable nights, and with no screens on the windows, we couldn’t even open them for airflow without letting birds in. To make matters worse, bird noise outside continued all night long, making it nearly impossible to get decent sleep.
The rooms, bathrooms, and common areas all showed significant wear and tear — well beyond what you’d expect given the cost of the stay. It felt like very little had been updated or maintained in some time.
On top of that, there were no real amenities to speak of, which made the overall value feel even more disappointing.
I wanted to like this hotel given where it’s situated, but the lack of basic comfort (AC, screens, quiet) and the tired condition of the property made for a rough stay. Wouldn’t recommend unless significant renovations happen.
The location is central but the hotel is noisy throughout the night. We stayed from Friday to Saturday and now from Saturday through Sunday July 17-19 2026. We heard street noise and seagulls gawking and screaming all night. The paper thin walls made us have to hear all the laughing and taking into the late night by the room to the right of us. The room does not have air conditioning only a high old fashioned fan lamp that we heard all night. The photos that we saw on line of a queen room appeared large and spacious but when we entered our room we saw a tiny 10x10 tiny room. There was no fridge or microwave or place to make coffee just a tiny coffeemaker. The lamp shades were crooked and wobbly, I had to stage the room myself for my spouse to be mildly surprise since it was a special occasion. Checking in, The desk staff member was not too professional. I asked about good restaurants, she said she didn’t know not even one because she works three jobs. She was tattooed everywhere and not dressed professionally. The environment was not welcoming. There was no one to help with luggage. I had to load myself into the cart and since I got a room in the second building behind the first the cart was not able to be taken down three stairs so I had to walk all of our bags and items to the room making four trips back and forth. The bathroom vanity area was so tiny I could not fit my toiletries, the cabinet doors were scratched and needed painting, the tub shower walls had tile that have not had the tile grout cleaned or bleached in a while, the water pressure in the vanity sink was very low. The hallway to our room has carpeting with bleached areas and lacked attention to detail. The room was pricy for the amenities received. When I tried to upgrade the desk attendant said it was impossible because of stay overs. We checked in at 2:45 but by the time settled in it was 3:10. Getting luggage to the room and finding parking was a chore. There is no hotel designated parking and we had to look for street parking. For $600 plus tax and fees for two nights we did not get our $ worth. And finally I forgot to mention when we sat on the bed it squeeked.
They have no A/C in the rooms and a "double room with seating area" was just one chair and a small table next to the bed. Very misleading. The bathroom was not as nice as the pictures as well.
The only thing we genuinely liked was the comfortable bed and the convenience of being right off one of the main roads in the city.
The street noise was extremely loud, and it was clear the windows do not seal properly or provide any soundproofing. Please consider replacing them to improve the guest experience. Box fan that was brought to our room helped but its not a long term fix. please consider replacing all the carpets in the building. They smell and are extremely stained and dirty everywhere you look. The overall hotel rating on booking. com did not match what was experienced at the facility and provided a false perception of the experience. not sure how this hotel is rated at 7.2
