Please inform Sonder Kensington Gardens in advance of your expected arrival time. You can use the Special Requests box when booking, or contact the property directly with the contact details provided in your confirmation.
Payment before arrival via bank transfer is required. The property will contact you after you book to provide instructions.
A damage deposit of GBP 400 is required. The host charges this 7 days before arrival. This will be collected by credit card. You should be reimbursed within 7 days of check-out. Your deposit will be refunded in full via credit card, subject to an inspection of the property.
After confirmation, Sonder will reach out to guests through a secure link to gather some information regarding their stay. Sonder may require the guest to provide a photo of their government issued photo ID. Guests will receive check in details from property management three days prior to arrival. Please note the layout, furniture, and decor of your space may vary from these photos. There are no laundry facilities. The fire alarm is tested every Thursday between 1PM and 3PM. Please ignore it unless it lasts for longer than one minute. There is no air conditioning, and extra fans are available upon request. Sonder offers all guests the ability to book housekeeping services on demand for a nominal fee. This ensures you can enjoy an uninterrupted and environmentally sustainable stay. Housekeeping services must be scheduled via the Sonder app, 24 hours in advance.

It’s a beautiful building with lots of character.
Very steep steps to access the front door. The use of coded locks, which can be difficult to use.
Good location, close to restaurants, bars and shops short walk to tube station.
Room was in the basement close to toilets and quite small.
Location is just around the corner from the Royal Albert Hall, short walk to many London attraction and night live. Excellent for culture and sightseeing. The hotel rooms are spacious for this area, complimentary breakfast was good and they offered gluten free options. The room had everything we needed, incl. hot shower and good toiletries. All was nicely presented.
The pre check in process was too complicated.
Location is really great; overall style is nice; area seems safe; Nespresso coffee and fresh orange juice was good; small place overall, thus not so many other guests and therefore not too busy; questions were answered decentralised via the chat-function on the Sonder app fairly quick.
For our purpose it was good. The little breakfast each day was at least an option to save some £ while London is very expansive overall for people coming from €-countries.
Rooms in basement (servants rooms) with no chance to open windows; unbothered staff mostly hanging around on their reception sofa; no room cleaning (not even for long stays) and extra fee of 25£ if wanted; minimalistic breakfast and less offered than shown on their marketing photos (no veggies, no creme cheese, no cornflakes, barely vegan options); quite some noise from outside; cold wind from windows; dirty and very dusty carpet, spam of e-mails here on booking, as all communication runs via the Sonder-App.
As we can see the corporation behind is answering to comments a lot. It does not matter to us to explain the concept behind. From an experience point of view it feels like a hostel and has clearly some cost-cutting intentions (while stating its for the environment). At some point the staff even removed the to-go-mugs from the breakfast, as many people took an extra coffee with them. When being asked for them teh staff answered that they were out of stock...which can't be, there were tons the day before. Overall the attitude towards guests felt hostile.
For our purpose it was the best price in the neighbourhood so we took certain things into account and handled everything ourselves (would have liked to have access to a vaccuum then, too). But it's not a welcoming hotel for sure so it shouldn't be expected.

Good location and good facilities
I had to ring to get the correct access codes for the rooms I had booked and when we got there our room had been downgraded to a smaller room.
First time stay here. Room was very basic. Single bed. Empty of anything, no chair etc. Because it was tiny, on the top floor. Can’t remember last time I’ve had a single bed in a hotel. Bathroom tiny, so shower was tiny. Decor absolutely basic.
Someone said backpacker and that was my sense of it too. Breakfast was pastries, or slices of cheese.
No wish to return. Ok I guess if price good and you don’t need any more than a basic bed for the night.

Smelt really clean. Great keypad entry (difficult in the rain though, getting phone out to get the code etc)
Plug sockets. The ones next to the bed were american. There were two sockets in the entire room. One by the door. The other was by the kettle. We were woken up by the occupant next door slamming their door at 8am. We also found the lights frustrating. We couldn’t turn the bathroom light on without turning all of the lights on. The pillows were very lumpy. The tv was tiny with no apps like BBC iplayer on it. Basic really. Our room was also downgraded the day before. That really really annoyed me. I was told I could get a full refund so I could book another hotel. In London, within 24 hours?! Apparently the room was down graded just to accommodate our stay. Essentially, overbooked! I was promised a £25 reduction in our rate, which I had to chase up after we left. I also had no warning that we would be charged £50 as a room deposit. There was no mini bar so I didn’t feel that this was appropriate. We weren’t told about it. Obviously that was returned to us. It still irked me.

De lower room is klein. Ramen kunnen maar een beetje open waardoor soms wat benauwd in de kamer. Geen airco.
