A True Classic--A Must in Manila
Pros:

Staff was impeccable, especially concierge and valets. The Peninsula is just an elegant, amazing place no matter how you cut it. Well worth any extra currency spent.

Cons:

Nothing. Would stay again in a heartbeat. Tremendous service in everyway.

There are better hotels in the area
Pros:

Hotel looks good, breakfast was great

Cons:

We experienced issues with our room not being available upon check-in, despite arriving at around 4:00 p.m., well past standard check-in time. We were tired and it was raining, which made the situation more frustrating. Rather than being proactive or empathetic, the staff member handling our check-in showed little concern and simply asked whether we would be willing to accept a smaller room, as the room category we had booked was apparently unavailable. Offering a downgrade to an already inconvenienced guest at a purported five-star hotel is frankly unacceptable.

There was no meaningful attempt to compensate for the inconvenience, no initiative to ease the situation, and only a perfunctory apology. The overall attitude made it feel as though we were the inconvenience, rather than guests dealing with a service failure. The check-in process dragged on for nearly 20 minutes, during which we tried to find a table at one of the hotel’s restaurants while waiting for the room to be prepared. All venues were full, and no assistance or suggestions were offered by the front desk. We eventually had to leave the hotel in the rain to find somewhere to eat.

Only after I personally emailed the front desk manager was a late check-out offered, which we appreciated and accepted. However, this resolution came solely because I escalated the issue; it was not proactively addressed by the check-in staff.

Aside from the check-in experience, while the lobby is undeniably iconic, during peak periods it becomes extremely crowded, with little sense of calm or discretion. It felt more like a busy marketplace than a luxury hotel lobby.

The in-room toiletries were also very minimal compared to other hotels in the same category, and the location is not particularly convenient if your priority is proximity to major shopping areas.

Classic hotel with a great lobby vibe
Pros:

The Peninsula is a classic, and good value in Manila. Afternoon tea and music is a staple for decades and creates a great vibe. The breakfast buffet is amazing. It's not the newest and shiniest hotel in the area but the atmosphere and facilities are great. Try the bar for a late night cocktail. We enjoyed the pool as well.

Cons:

pool service could have been a little more attentive.

A pleasurable stay.
Pros:

Excellent food selection and quality

Cons:

While the Escolta Restaurant was closed, the breakfast buffet was served in the lobby lounge. Understandably, this did not go as efficiently as usual!
