Pros:

The location was good as we had a family function at the hotel next door. The room was clean and tidy and had everything I required as I was only there to sleep. Reception staff were helpful on check in and check out.

Cons:

I was obviously in a disabled persons room even though I didn't request this type of room. The room had no windows that could be opened for fresh air nor windows you could look out as they were at ceiling height. There was a group of 10 of us who had dinner in the restaurant and for a Mercure property the menu was very basic and the service slow and meals mixed up. They had a wedding in an adjoining room and staff seemed to be concentrating their efforts to that area. We had breakfast in the restaurant and once again it was below standard to what you would expect at a Mercure property. Choice wasn't great and the hot buffet wasn't hot.

Unfortunately on arrival to the room my family were allocated we came across housekeeping linen bags at our door. Other cleaning items left on the bench at the entry. After settling in, we left after an hour to enjoy our day in Ballarat these said items still sat at the entry to the room. Returned to freshen up for dinner the linen bag and items had gone, but a microfibre rag stayed the whole duration.
Otherwise was very happy the experience at the Mercure. Great property, friendly staff and comfortable room.

The room is clean. The size is good. Generally very quiet but for a function next door with very loud music on Saturday night :(

Cons:

1, No water bottle is provided. 2. Bathroom is not equipped with hand held shower 4 female guest who wants to have a shower but doesn't want a hair wash - haircover would be appreciated. 3. The shampoo and soap bottles did not work, required attendance.

Great location if you want to visit Sovereign Hill.
Pros:

Gardens and outside were stunning. Lots of trees and lake was lovely.
Nice spacious bedroom and comfortable bed. We stayed in the Courtyard rooms.
Staff were really nice and helpful

Cons:

Bathrooms as most reviewers have said need updating as well as furniture in the room.
Need more outside seating in the courtyard. Also breakfast was pretty mediocre.
