Agree with the previous reviews of the hotel. Great place to stay . Totally enjoyable. Although our room's bathroom was large unlike some other reviews. Highly recommend.
Great big old hotel amazing pool
Felt a bit dated, and staff was sufficient, but a little flat.
This is a classic grand old hotel that is, for the most part, very well maintained and retains a lot of the classic charm from decades ago without being stuffy or out of date. It is in the perfect location for attending MUNY performances or other Forest Park events.
Positives
Location - borders Forest Park - walking distance to MUNY etc. To the right one block is a gourmet food grocery store (small and expensive, but convenient) and around the block to the right and down a block are a series of fun dive bars.
Rooms - very clean. There are electrical and iphone outlets right on the side of the nightstand within very immediate and easy reach when you are in bed, vs. having to reach down and around the back of the nightstand.
AC works extremely well and is individually room controlled. Suites are very spacious, with a completely separate bedroom from the living area, which has a living room area, a dining table area, and a large desk area for working. Mini frig is happily empty, so you can store your own beverages, and is not crammed full of the hotel mini bar pricey beverages.
Bedroom has excellent mattress and linens, although the sheets needed to be remade to pull the sheets and quilt up higher than housekeeping made the bed. If you request in advance, you can get bathrobes but not slippers. Large closet with real hangers and lots of dresser drawers for storage space. You can request a luggage rack, although they are very small and very low, so we covered the dining table with paper towels and used the table for our luggage. Bedroom has good light blocking drapes. Bedroom has an alarm clock on the nightstand - YEA!
Fitness Center - is open 24/7. I do not know where the 18000 feet 2 is located as the fitness center in the basement is nowhere near that big. Has good weight training equipment and several cardio machines (which, not a positive, are mostly very old, rusted out, noisy, or non-functional).
Front desk staff -- impeccable service and professionalism. EXCELLENT people.
Bar - serves food until 11 pm and is open until 1 am. Good live bands and dancing!
Negatives
Location - stay within a few blocks as the neighborhood changes instantly with most buildings in shreds and boarded up
Rooms
Bathroom is very very small. The door does not stay open and you bump into it all the time. The tub is old and very slippery, and there is nothing to which to hold for steadiness and security if you need it. Towels are ok but sort of cheap - nowhere nearly as good as the bed linens. Very little counter space or storage space. Clean. Lighting is dark.
Fitness Center -- see above. Much smaller and older than the "18,000 square feet wow" as described on the website. Most cardio equipment is old, rusted out, does not work very well, uncomfortable to use. Big old fan blows very cold air. No restroom - you have to go upstairs to the restroom off the lobby so it's just as easy to go to your room.
Parking - self is $40 valet is $50.
BReakfast - very expensive and very small portions. Fruit bowl at $6 is two berries and a slice of apple.
Really enjoyed our stay here! The location was one of the biggest highlights—there were so many great restaurants, bars, and things to do within walking distance, so it made exploring the area really easy.
The room was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The hotel’s amenities were great with a great hotel bar.
The staff was so kind - BIG shout out to Brenda! She was full of life and kindness!
Have been coming to the hotel for years. Usually grab a bite at the Tenderloin Room. They were closed for repairs so we popped in to The Chase Club. Had the Margherita pizza and the Nicoise salad. DELICIOUS!!! Eric and Anthony, bartenders, took wonderful care of us. Highly recommend the hotel and all three of their restaurants.
I have been coming to the Chase routinely for some time now. I have nothing but amazing things to say about it!
Staff-all areas are professional, willing to go out of their way. Del in Chase club is very attentive. Rooms are immaculate. I’m picky when it comes to clean. Choice of food/drink, pool, movie theater and a beautiful neighborhood and park right out the front door!
I really do feel part of the family!
Thank you,
Jill F
Great location, great breakfast, nice history of hotel
Some areas closed (got trapped trying to exit via restaurant)
Location and facilities
Valet was not flexible
Anytime we travel to St. Louis the Chase Park Plaza is our go to place to stay. Convenient location close to 64 and I44, as well as downtown and Busch Stadium. The hotel is beautiful, clean, and smells great! Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Excellent restaurants on site. The valet staff, bellman, and front desk staff are friendly and extremely helpful. This is a high class hotel that is reasonably priced. High recommend!!!
Our group had a work meeting their last week. The team was friendly and very helpful to our team during the meeting. Thank for the great hospitality.
As always, the hotel was fantastic. The front desk staff is helpful and friendly. The room was clean and incredibly comfortable. I love being able to head back to my room and relax comfortably after a day of walking around Forest Park .The pool was also wonderful. I had no trouble finding a lounger to relax on will enjoying the sun. I really want to give a shout out to a few staff members who made my 4 night stay great. Ms. B and Alex in The Preston made my breakfast experience wonderful. Ms. B is the most friendly person! She is funny, helpful, and just wonderful. Alex gave me great suggestions that made eating breakfast enjoyable. She truly added to my dining experience.
I’ve stayed there many times. It’s a beautiful hotel in a stellar location. Unfortunately, it was a bad experience this time. The host at the Preston was not good, and when a very valid complaint was lodged, the manager, Ashly, was very condescending and rude. I will not return until there is well needed change at that restaurant
The experience at “The Chase” was great. Great accommodations and friendly staff. Concierge Pamela Nangle is an expert of the area and one of the most kind and professional people I have met in the hospitality industry.
I’ve been coming to the Chase for the past eight years and it never disappoints. It’s our corporate hotel, and every stay makes me feel like I’m on vacation. I love the historic charm, the beautiful rooms with comfy beds and linens, not to mention the location! Across from Forest Park and nestled in vibrant neighborhood with cafes and shops, I love being able to stroll on foot for dinner or a coffee.
There are multiple restaurants in the hotel also, all of which I enjoy.
Most of all I appreciate the kindness and hospitality of the staff. If I ever have a problem, they are quick to remedy.
Many of my colleagues stay down the street to max out their points with Marriott. But I can’t relate. I’d rather feel pampered for the same amount of money. The gym! A movie theater! Really can’t imagine staying anywhere else.
