Pros:

Had a very pleasant stay at the Hilton Carlton. The location is fantastic—right in the center of the city and just steps off the Royal Mile, making it extremely convenient for exploring. The hotel itself is nice, and the standout feature was definitely the staff, who were all wonderfully kind, professional, and welcoming. The food was okay overall.

Cons:

​However, there are a couple of things that could be better. The commercial rates felt a bit high for the overall package, and the gym is very limited. It lacks enough equipment and really needs additional weights and machines.

​Overall, it's a good hotel thanks to the prime location and great service, but upgrading the gym facilities and reviewing pricing would make it much better.

It was fine, expensive for what it is. Very mass American design

Location was great. Hotel was clean.

Cons:

One of the lifts was out so in order to get to my room, I had to take an elevator down to -2, walk down a long corridor with multiple turns, walk up a flight of stairs to get to -01, then enter a couple of hallways to get to the room. Every single time I left and returned to the room.

Expensive, but fabulous

Very clean, comfortable beds, nice amenities, great breakfast, location was great

Cons:

Very expensive and I understand its location during the Fringe Festival probably increased the price. We had 3 in a room, and this hotel was the only one with a vacancy for the 2 nights we needed. Normally we would never, ever pay prices this high, but we were left with no other choice. I love pretending I always stay at a Hilton, but I'm really a budget inn lady.

Excellent location, good breakfast to start the day, walkable to many attractions

Cons:

Very challenging to navigate through the hotel, elevator took time to arrive. Hotel cleaning staff often use the guest elevator thus resulting in high wait time.

Great location, the positives end there
Pros:

Daniel (I believe he is one of the management staff) is absolutely lovely and helped me resolve an issue by moving me to another room. The room he moved us to was lovely (large space, modern, nice window with natural light) and I want to thank him for going out of his way to make our stay comfortable.

Cons:

When we arrived, there was nowhere to pull up and no one to assist with the bags. The lady that checked me in was incredibly rude and dismissive (awful awful first impression), and asked another reception staff member to help with our bags and he said to her that it wasn’t his job. My husband had to leave the car on the street illegally parked and bring the bags in (we have 5 bags of luggage) which we then had to lug to the room ourselves. This hotel has no amenities and the ones it has are very low quality. The beds are uncomfortable, the shower leaks, there are no robes or vanity kits, maintenance staff are very tight with water and toilet paper. It just feels like an incredibly budget hotel which for the price is disappointing. I hope to never stay at a Hilton hotel again. If it weren’t for Daniel’s excellent customer service I would have left.
