Hele goede service! Gezellige sfeer en lekker eten.
Beetje oudbollig en gedateerd. Service maakte enorm veel goed. Publiek allemaal 75+ dus net 51 voelden we ons piepjong!
It was such an experience- magical!

Our recent stay at Abbeyglen Castle was amazing from start to finish. Despite being walk in guests at extremely short notice, in that busy period before New Year’s, we were afforded a truly warm and inviting welcome from Dermott as soon as we crossed the threshold.
The hospitality throughout our stay, from tea and scones on arrival, champagne reception and an engaging welcome talk by Brian Hughes and the friendly staff throughout was exceptional. Nothing was overlooked and yet the atmosphere was very comfortable and relaxed. Fellow guests mingled, chatted and sang in the bar like neighbours in their local, rather than strangers. This was due entirely to Brian’s unique way of making everyone feel like an old friend and his ability to remember names is incredible!
Our room was extremely comfortable and spacious. Food at dinner was delicious and breakfast choice was faultless.
Our stay was unplanned, due to an unpleasant experience with a property booked elsewhere, but my goodness, every cloud certainly has a silver lining!
Brian Hughes and his team are a professional embodiment of just what a traditional Irish ‘Céad Míle Fáilte’ should be. Abbeyglen Castle is a shining example of exceptional service and hospitality. We will most definitely return… making sure to book in advance next time!
Got there after dark and left in the morning but looked pretty from what I could see. A little brook/creek I could hear from the room (nice)

I enjoyed my Christmas holiday here! we purchased an inclusive deal, 3 nights. Dining was treat, we ordered from the menu, loved the food and the service was excellent. it’s a beautiful traditional somewhat formal dining room. i don’t know how they do it all, but they are seasoned professionals,. There was nightly music in the bar, and the host and many of the service people were funny and charming and also very helpful. The breakfasts were the best i’ve had, wonderful smoked salmon and fluffy eggs, exceptional. They do enable, with cocktail hour and evening gatherings, for meeting others, which made it seem more like a holiday too.
The furnishings are lovely, antiques like you would expect in a castle, but the bathrooms are modern, everything is very clean and well kept.
From here we could walk along the sea, walk to Christmas services in the village, and hike and climb in Connemara Park.
Just home after a wonderful three-day stay in Abbeyglen Castle for New Year. Such a fantastic experience. The owners and their excellent staff went out of their way to make sure we were minded and looked after like family. The beautiful rooms, the absolutely delicious food (the fish!) and the captivating entertainment are all of the high standard you would expect from a 4* hotel but the warmth of the welcome and the attention to the comfort of each guest are what set the Abbeyglen apart - truly exceptional. We will be back to celebrate next New Year!
The atmosphere was excellent.
