Good comfortable rooms, lovely evening meal. Shame about the staff lack of customer service.
Pros:

Roo.s were comfortable. Very friendly and welcoming lady in bar evening.

Cons:

The receptionist was rude on first day arrival (male) some of the staff throughout the hotel were so miserable. Couple of times we said good morning, and were ignored. I guess English wasn't their first Language.

Excellent hotel
Pros:

Excellent hotel. Decor lovely, spotlessly clean, well equipped spacious room and very comfy bed. Restaurant & bar lovely, breakfast second to none

Staff, bed, mattress, food, lack of security
The bed was an old metal hospital bed with a mattress from the early 70's and stains so bad I had flashbacks to my first flat. It was roughly 3 inches deep with springs right at the surface so I received pricks and jabs where pricks shouldn't be felt.
Don't get me started on the food. My beef could be used as kevlar for visiting Basingstoke

Hotel hospitality & atmosphere - Nil Points
Pros:

The ease of parking. Plenty of breakfast choices including gluten free.

Cons:

The staff seemed unhappy. Not always polite. The room Key Card did not work after breakfast. No staff at Reception to help. Waited at reception for 7 minutes, then I walked around until I located 3 staff members who were together. I was informed rather curtly 'she' had been busy, but no apology.

Cons:

The staff couldn’t have appeared more unhappy that guests were checking in. We had a twin room booked but only one bath towel and one hand towel in the room. The furniture was warped and damaged. The mugs were sticky and dirty. There was hair in the bathroom on our arrival.
