Loved everything about it from the moment we checked in with amazing staff who were extremely helpful, breakfast and complementary minibar
PERFECT LOCATION
Nothing
Property is definitely is not a 5 star i would expect more.
Worst hotel experience I have ever had.
I arrived at 9:30 AM with my wife and three-year-old child after requesting early check-in almost one month in advance and offering to pay any additional charge. I understood it was subject to availability, but we did not receive our room until 2:35 PM, while other guests who arrived around the same time were checked in earlier. The front-desk staff were rude and made us feel completely unwelcome.
After I posted my honest review, I met the Front Office Manager on my final day and requested only one additional hour for checkout. He initially said he would check, but once he realized I was the person who wrote the review, his attitude immediately changed. He refused the request, spoke to me rudely, and discussed me with other staff in Spanish as though I had committed an offence simply by complaining. He also told me that late checkout depends on “who the guest is” and their membership status.
The cleanliness was also unacceptable. The towels repeatedly arrived stained, the bathroom and room were not properly cleaned, food was left beside my door, and on one occasion a large utility access panel had fallen open in the corridor next to my room and luckily it didnt happen while my kid was walking to the room.
I rarely complain because good staff can make up for hotel flaws. However, instead of apologizing or trying to improve the situation, the management made it worse. I was a paying guest travelling with my family, not someone asking for charity. This treatment was unacceptable, and I will never return or recommend this hotel.
Location, exceptional reception ,and concierge
Towels are worn out, some of it weirdly smells like food. The bathroom has no ventilation once you take a shower all the whole room become steamy.
First day the room service left the mug of the tea unclean, let alone that they don't make sure of the shampoo and conditioner is full or empty.
This hotel looks nice and the lobby is nice, but they should be absolutely EMBARRASSED to say they have a pool. Yes, technically I guess they do, but if you look at the pictures that tiny water fountain feature in the corner of the rooftop underneath the big “R”- yeah that’s the pool. I’ve seen margaritas bigger. And the water was about the color of one. Also the three waterfall features over top aren’t there anymore. So it’s just a tiny “plunge pool” that is basically a water feature in the corner of a restaurant. Absolutely absurd to list this as a pool. We called Marriott and got a refund and went to the other Renaissance with almost the same exact name that does actually have a pool. The rooms may be nice, who knows… but if you’re looking for a rooftop pool experience, this place is appalling for the price.
The hotel is located in the heart of Barcelona, close to everything on foot, by bike, or by public transport, and has excellent connections to the airport via a dedicated bus. The room boasts excellent air conditioning, silent and very efficient, with the ability to cool the room to 16.5 degrees Celsius on those hot summer days. Sincere thanks to the entire hotel staff for making our stay so special and personal. Robert and Aldona
This is a busy property, but the staff are very helpful and welcoming, offering to take your luggage and offering water the second you arrive. The lobby was quite busy upon our arrival, but it did not take long to be attended to. We stayed in the Prestige Guest Room, which had a lovely King bed and faced a boulevard. The room was modern and more spacious than usual for Barcelona. Nice large walk-in rain shower. Very quiet. The blackout curtains could have been darker, but they did alright. My main issue with this property was the bed. It was hard and I could feel springs sticking into my body as I laid on it. A mattress topper would go a long way here. Other than that, great location, close to shopping, great restaurants and coffee shops, about a 15 min walk from the Gothic Quarter and had a cute little plunge pool on the roof. Not sure I would stay here again, but it was good for one night.
Ничего
Персонал, который не заселял в номер, несмотря на то, что время было 15.00, ужасный запах на этаже и в номере. Вид из окна на стену!
The staff and location
The gym
Roof top terrace paella and ceviche. Ideal location and pleasant staff
No complaints
I booked this hotel for our honeymoon for the central location. It was great to wake up each morning and try a new cafe that was within walking distance. In fact, everything is within walking distance. We walked from here to Park Guell, Sagrada Família, and everywhere between. We didn’t even use the metro. The staff was friendly and the hotel was clean. I would highly recommend for anyone wanting a central location. Also, the rooftop bar had excellent food!
Good location close to transport/food/beverage choices. Exceptionally attentive front desk/concierge service. Expedited a room for our early arrival. Pleasant common areas, good bar/restaurant and great rooftop bar. As mentioned and seen, the pool really is a glorified bathtub at the end of the rooftop bar. The second floor room was comfortable with a small balcony peek-a-boo view and good temperature control during the very hot weather. Decent space, facilities and storage in room. Comfortable bed although pillows too soft.
But there were failings: Maid service was a letdown - not done even by late afternoon most days and had to ask multiple times, and even then not all supplies replenished. Bathroom poorly designed with insufficient ventilation and water that flowed out of shower enclosure also causing rusty stains (pic). Bathroom door hinges were broken which prevented door from closing properly (pic). Evidence of previous failed attempts to fix. Main entry door would bind loudly when opening, and balcony door latch very loose so didn't seal. Maintenance items that should have been addressed before room goes online. One elevator was frequently offline as well.
Given the high end pricing, these aspects were not expected from what Marriott describes as a 5-star property.
Just spent three lovely nights at the Renaissance Barcelona. Have been to many, many Marriott properties around the world and I was extremely impressed by the quality the service and attitude of the staff. We were welcomed at the curb by the manager on duty and two bellmen and directed to the concierge desk for checkin. She checked us in quickly and answered all of our questions, being very pleasant and helpful throughout. For the remainder of our stay, anyone we approached we very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast buffet was incredible, with a large number of delicious items. All of the facilities were spotless. We especially loved the tremendous enthusiasm and service of Ata who served us dinner on the rooftop bar!
My stay at the Renaissance Barcelona Hotel was fantastic. The hotel is beautifully located right in the heart of Barcelona, making it easy to walk to countless restaurants, markets, shops, and many of the city's most popular attractions.
What truly made the experience exceptional was the staff. Rafael, the bellman, went above and beyond, helping me with multiple bags and assisting with laundry needs during both my arrival and departure. His kindness and professionalism made traveling so much easier.
The bar staff were equally outstanding. Luke, Andreas, and the entire morning and evening team were friendly, attentive, and always provided excellent service. They helped create a welcoming atmosphere that made the hotel feel like a home away from home.
If you're looking for a hotel with an excellent location, comfortable accommodations, and a staff that genuinely cares about its guests, I highly recommend the Renaissance Barcelona Hotel. I would absolutely stay here again on my next visit to Barcelona.
Excellent location. Extremely helpful staff. Nice rooms . Restaurants everywhere and one block from excellent shopping on Passeig de Gracia. The rooftop bar is awesome but there is no “pool”, just a 5 x 8 ft tub at the corner of the rooftop bar to climb in and stand in. Don’t bother!
Breakfast was included and it was great!
