Peaceful hotel, well located for transport links but with a country house feel. Friendly staff throughout my stay. I got an upgrade on arrival to a nice room overlooking the grounds. Breakfast was great value and served in a lovely location. I especially liked being able to walk out into the re-wilded golf course, which should turn into a beautiful nature reserve in future.
Hotel is quite difficult to navigate around, as it is sprawling over several buildings. I investigated the gym, but it didn't look appealing (small and unwelcoming), so I didn't use it.
Always loved room number I. Lovely sized room with a great view over the grounds.
The gym could do with a refresh.
The receptionist was very welcoming and helpful.
Nothing
Very happy with friendly staff and food very nice
Unfortunately the outside of the hotel needs some TLC. Paintwork on windows needs redoing, indeed some windows rotten in parts, sad when inside so nice.
Everything the staff was lovely and so helpful and the facility’s was very welcoming and friendly
Hall garth hotel is amazing the staff are super nice and polite. This is the 3rd time myself and my partner have stayed here and room 2 well what can I say yes the taps in the toilet do turn on by there self and yes you will occasionally hear a womans voice whispering but you do get used to it after a while. Would I stay in any other room now absolutely not. You do get the feeling someone is watching you when you close your eyes to sleep but it's not too bad.
There was nothing we did not like the place and location is amazing
The location
The room was very dated. It was cold and their was lots of maintenance issues in the room and the bathroom
Been here loads of times and love it every time that’s why I keep coming back
Thankfully a refund.
I would leave 0 stars if I could.
We checked in and left shortly afterwards due to the condition of the room. There was visible damp/mould around the window and walls, water staining, peeling and cracked paintwork, damaged wood around the window frame, dirty carpet edges, and the room felt poorly maintained throughout.
This was not simply a dated room with character — it felt neglected and unacceptable for paying guests.
Customer service at the hotel was also very poor. When we raised our concerns, we were told we would have to take it up with Booking.com rather than the hotel, which came across as dismissive and unhelpful.
We were also meant to have access to the spa, but were told on arrival that we did not. This was another disappointment and added to the feeling that the stay was not as advertised.
We did not stay and requested a refund through Booking.com. To be fair, the Booking.com representative I dealt with was very helpful and sorted the refund process for me, which I appreciated.
I would not recommend this hotel based on our experience.
